Somewhere in south-central England.

The "Guardian" (?) reviewer pointed out there is a lot to be said for a cult which persuades teenage girls not to have sex, if you are the right kind of teenager's mother.

Someone should make a Twilight aimed at teenage boys, filled with sexy girl vampires.

Kilkrazy wrote:There's an interesting psychosexual dynamic going on in Twilight which is probably linked with the popularity of riding among teenage girls and the popularity of Yaoi manga.

In Twilight, a peri-pubescent girl longs after a hunk of a man who must remain forever beyond her reach.

In riding, a peri-pubescent girl clamps her thighs firmly around a huge muscly brute and directs its movements, right, left, up and down, rocking and plunging, at her pleasure.

In Yaoi manga, a peri-pubescent girl enjoys the sight of two hot, beautiful young men getting it on with each other.

All three can be seen as ways of girls vicariously exploring aspects of their emergent sexuality without the danger (physical or social) of actual sex.

Yep

Dr. Peter Venkman: This city is headed for a disaster of biblical proportions.
Mayor: What do you mean, "biblical"?
Dr Ray Stantz: What he means is Old Testament, Mr. Mayor, real wrath of God type stuff.
Dr. Peter Venkman: Exactly.
Dr Ray Stantz: Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling!
Dr. Egon Spengler: Forty years of darkness! Earthquakes, volcanoes...
Winston Zeddemore: The dead rising from the grave!
Dr. Peter Venkman: Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!

And yes if it wasn't about vampires we would be raging. We are the canaries in the mineshaft and Twilight is the methane gas.

Imagine working for a phone+internet+tv provider and seeing that on repeat for half the day in your work area :s

At least they muted the audio...

I never knew I would enjoy a awkward conversations with akward customers more than a pulp movie (In my country I find the download speed of internet connections to be closely tied to the user's social skills and intellect).

I think the author has a Vampire fetish but is some kind of "proper for all-ages" freak... someone terrified by the prospect of an evangelical protest, or "parents of america" (do they still exist?) complaining. Or maybe she likes Vampires but for the gruesome grittiness to be expected of this genre. Worst. Vampire. Movie. Ever.

Even Blade:Trinity might be considered a better vampire flick than this.

If they were forced/tricked into watching it by their girlfiends/significant others/its overwhelming media presence, I suspect so.

If I were ten years younger and hence ten years more nerdly, I'd probably be wearing a Team Lestat or Team Vlad t-shirt in response to the Burger King ads.

Just to double check, we all know vampires aren't real, right? We also know that just like how DnD vampires die in water yet Buffy vampires don't, some vampires can fall in love yet others can't and are eternally grimdark? What is the big deal here? It's not like somebody crapped on your front porch. For a chick thing it's one of the best continuities out there for guys to have to be sucked into. Compare to Jane Austen or American Girl.

In your base, ignoring your logic.

Vampires aren't real? Then why did I bother making a rocket propelled stake? They exist, its just that the "vampires" are either troubled youngsters or really creepy adults that like to pretend to be vampires, like those kids that murdered a couple because their "leader" said they needed to rescue his girlfriend, they thought that they were vampires.

When they put vampires in Twilight let us know. At this point it has Disney Chanel rejects with mutant powers (like sparkling in the sun) that can walk around during the day in sunlight that just happen to need blood to stay alive. Well hell i need blood to stay alive to, doesn't make me a vampire.

And while vampires aren't real, bad writing is very real. Of course the absolute ignorance of your last sentence makes me think you are just trolling and that I shouldn't have responded.

Before you pull out the "T" word try actually considering what I'm saying. Is Twilight more like a Jane Austen story or WoD? The answer is pretty obvious. I don't go comparing the old DnD cartoon to Warhammer Fantasy fluff and complain about it. I'm pretty sure if there weren't fans, no one would care.

Since that came up, I took the liberty to look up troll on wikipedia. I'm raising a perfectly legitimate point, but I'm saying my piece and I'm done with it if you're going to act like that. What I'm saying isn't controversial, just not your viewpoint so get over it :p

"Application of the term troll is highly subjective. Some readers[who?] may characterize a post as trolling, while others may regard the same post as a legitimate contribution to the discussion, even if controversial. The term is often used as an ad hominem strategy to discredit an opposing position by attacking its proponent."
