Too often I see this kind of thing happening, and it's always the same: someone left their minis in their vehicle and it was broken into.
You and everyone else reading this consider this a lesson, never leave anything in your vehicle that you don't want to live without.

I"m sure people will keep eyes open at the Bunker and so on.
I assume you've gotten the word out at Game Empire and PacMad and the other local SD shops?
And I assume you checked all of the nearby trash cans and dumpsters?
Because usually, black figure cases get stolen by people hoping for guns, not toy soldiers. So they smash and hope for a couple pistols. When they find toys, they just trash them.

I feel so sorry for your loss. Let us hope the thief was kinda smart and tried to sell them, there is a better chance you will get them back.
I will alert the local bunker, just in case we see them up here. Its unlikely you will see em up here, but just in case...
I think the donations would be a great idea btw. I dont have the cash, but 10 bucks here and there could get our man watchdragon a nid codex, a battleforce, and some templates.

Sorry to hear about this man. I do like how you are taking it in stride! A friend of mine had his collection of MTG cards stolen 2x in similar fashion. I never leave my stuff in my car, especially this time of year when packages etc et stolen from cars regularly. The thief probably didn't even know what they got, just saw a bag etc. Luckily with Warhammer, you have a customized item that can be identified from others due to its look. I do hope it turns up, I am sure if it does you will let us know!

Honestly check near your grandmother's house. When they openned the case and saw it was toys either they threw them on ebay or checked them in trash or a field.
If you need I can sent you a set of templates and an extra AoBR rule book no charge. Just PM your address. All I ask is that you pay it forward to another player in need when you are back on your feet.

While i would never turn down a donation or any sort of help, i know i am not the only one thats broke, army and money wise, and wouldn't want to come off as "poor me" for a new army, lol. If you wanted to help i can talk with you in PM.

I did, but most likely they drive up, took my stuff and left, this army was in a 34x18 inch case that weighed about 40 lbs ( apoc/ 40k/fantasy army books = heavy!)
Anyways if they did toss it in a dumpster, the trash truck came by because all the dumpsters were totally clean. I searches the bushes, behind the walls there, all the places someone would put it. no luck =(

Here's the trick:
NEVER leave your model cases in your car.
If you ABSOLUTELY MUST, ALWAYS store your miniatures in the trunk.
Miniature cases look too much like tool cases or gun cases, and people are far too likely to do a smash and grab in the hopes of getting some expensive power tools or handguns.
Best of luck with everything, and keep the positive attitude you seem to have - things'll rebound! =)

This robbery makes snse, figure cases look valuable. the thief might have been expecting a laptop or something. Sure car stereos are good but flogging a car stereo = stolen. A suitcase normally contains saleable goodies.
So the theif, probably wanting something to sell to get his next fix or kwik cash, opens the case and finds 'useless' toy soldiers. I would also have checked nearby dumpsters frankly. Guy was likely on foot quick smash and crab so he wasn't immediately local or he would haver grabbed more. Case was likely unlocked being a figure case so he would have taken a peek early found the stuff to be 'junk' and ditched it.
If smart enough he might have second handed the case, but most theives want the contents not the packaging because that is 'hot'. So I give even odds that your army was in a dumpster or a trashheap nearby. If you got to the dumpsters before the trash collectors and found them empty its then next likely the thief thought, toys, good for a present for a kid. Check kiddies model collections at your local FLGS after Christmas, you might see your stuff turn up.
Next check ebay and second hand shops but those are low probabilities. Most likely next option is that the thief will trash the collection or has them along his shelf the army looks cool so the thief might well have been curious enough to keep them.
