WooHoo!!

Looks like I'll be picking this box up and swapping the Orcs (with a fething "c" damn you all) with a buddy.

"Good guys" in starter sets will always be Empire, Elves, Bretonnians or Dwarves. "Bad guys" will always be Orcs or Goblins, Lizardmen, or Chaos Warriors. These sets are primarily for getting beginners into the hobby and those model ranges work well because of ease of making them simple assembly plastics, marketability to vacillating parents and children, and core imagery and simplicity of rules introduction to the game.

Let's see:

4th: High Elves vs. Goblins
5th: Brettonians vs. Lizardmen
6th: Empire vs. Orcs
7th: Dwarves vs. Goblins

and in 40k:

3rd: Space Marines vs. Orks
4th: Space Marines vs. Tyranids
5th: Space Marines vs. Orks

I don't think it would be too repetitive to have another Empire vs. Orcs. It's not like Empire is in EVERY starter box like in 40k.

How embarrassing, I play Dark Eldar. You are correct sir!

My point still stands, it's always been Marines!

And always will be. They are the flagship model range for 40K and for GW as a whole.

As much as it shouldn't be Orcs and Empire, I play both armies and can use more models for both armies (well, more knights is always good as I only hae 20 and I desperately need more Orcs).

(I want) High Elves vs Chaos Warriors, though I could see either of those armies replaced with something more monstrous (replace HE with Lizardmen, or Chaos with Vampires, Skaven, Orcs)

I'm suprised CHaos haven't gotten a starter box yet

Yeah Ive heard Orcs/Empire too... It makes sense if they are targeting new players... although honestly, I notice that many adult players whom getting into GW games tend to go to another army rather than whats in a starter set (if they get the starter set at all)... And I tend to see VERY FEW kids (actually none that I can think of off the top of my head) play Fantasy... so I think it should be something else besides Orcs and Empire in order to target new players... but thats just my opinion!

And why must all you people write "orks".... its "orcs" with a big ol "C" GOSH!

Chaos would be great, especially if they could finally replace those Conan marauders with something more ragged and pathetic. I liked the old Chaos thugs, they communicated the whole 'lost and damned' thing pretty well.

I'm wondering what the "big" model will be for the set.

The starter sets have all recently had a "large" plastic model. MoM had the troll, as did BfSP, and AoBR had the Dred and Deff Koptas.

AoBR had two large models one for each side, I wonder if this new Fantasy Starter will have the same, and if so what we will see.

Another interesting point (well to me at least) is that while MoM and BfSP had terrain bits (as did the 3rd ed 40k set), AoBR didn't. I assume that this means the new fantasy set won't either, but I'm hoping they can squeeze some more plastic in there.

Probably a chariot. Fits Orcs better than a warmachine and they already did a troll.

As solid as rumors get. Been confirmed by people who are usually right about these things. It won't be a huge reset, just minor tweaks to make things better (like from 6th to 7th).

I'll be in my bunk.....

On topic: they could go with a spear chucka or 2 as they wouldnt be to large or hard to fit into the box. unfortunately though if its empie, there will be another cannon.
