On a totally diferent note I was asked from local 40k folks to sculpt one small miniature for a tournament prize... Its the masters tournament and has the best 40k players.
So I was thinking someting really simple funny and gaming evocative to be casted in resin ( since its cheaper)
After playing with ideas a made this concept.( to be honest I wouldnt mind having a army of those ehehe)


Got to my bitz box and nailed a big dice and a 30mm base, proportions are diferent from original sketch but I can live with that.



I dont want to take much time on sculpting this so the simpler the better.
Any sugestions?

That trophy is going to be hilarious! I would die to get one.

I suggest using a bigger dice if possible so a real grot can fit in the top. You could cover most of the top of the die with a square of plasticard with a hatch cut into it so he looks like he is coming out of it.

If possible, I would even try to get some 'tabby board' plastic letters and attach them somewhat haphazardly to spell out 'MASTERS'. Add rivets, then done.

Those arms look like they're going to be a bit tricky to cast. I presume they'd be in resin? Might look a touch static in metal, but I can see wonderful things for them if one could heat them in water and bend them into a nice flowing shape.

I love the bio sword arms. The way the organic tissue clutches/weaves into/meshes with the blade parts is wonderfully imagined and compellingly executed.

Hi folks another sculpt ready to be casted and produced.

This project was really as freaky cool as it gets... I was aproached by David the owner of Displaced Miniatures to make a miniature for his collection and also to be casted and distributed by Black Cat Bases... so far so good nothing really diferent from the ussual comission... well thats because you dont know David HEHEHE.

Lets just say if you think Im nuts about bugs then multiply that a thousand times and you have the most funny guy EVER!... Although is poison is freaky, Pulpy-Mars-attack-space-monsters-with-legs-and-tentacles... I had the absolute pleasure to receive the tons of emails from David during the execution of this comission and each of them either had lots of cool space monsters atached or we just talked about common things like... bugs, monsters, warts, big foot...etc!

Man oh man it was some of the best mails I have received!
So this project was so damn fun to execute that I got draggd into this world of crazyness ( my other clients are going to kill me because I'm weeks behind the shedule)

So there you have, it a multipart CEPHALOARACHNID from space... let the Pulpy wars begin!




And a huge Zoom to pick up the flaws.

Love these bone swords, they look fantastic. There is something that disturbs me about nids holding separate blades, the whole integration thing is the way forward.
Also, do I see some kind of subliminal link between the chapterhouse logo and the final shape of the sword? (Probably just me!)
