Over here, we can access sex criminal id's and addresses over the computer along with the crime they committed. I worked with a couple of these guys and it didn't surprise me much to see their pictures on the list. One of them even bragged later to another person I know about what he did to a 13 year old girl with a leather belt.
This guy weighs about 280.
That'd be Megan's Law if I'm right in thinking. I see the need, and do in fact agree that families have a right to know of dangers to their children, but the Daily Hate want full disclosure for their own reasons, the same as all right wing media. The trouble is, you can be listed a Paedophile without being, or indeed, having ever been a threat to children. If you pull some girly in a Nightclub, bump nasties, then discover she was in fact 15, you face automatic prosecution. Thus I feel such things need to be controlled and on a need to know basis, rather than available to all and sundry for the sake of poking their nose in. But hey, my solution is never let the perverts out again. They are safe in prison, kids are safe when they are in prison. Everyone wins.

And I have always been in favour of locking actual sex offenders up for life (I would not be so harsh on such situations as you described, after all, if you are somewhere like a nighclub, you need to be 18 to get in, and 18 to get drinks - you need ID to do both of those things. If the club is not checking properly, or the kid has fake ID, how are you supposed to know?).
Also, I believe that if you hit someone who is under 18, you can be placed on the register (or something similar?)? Is that correct?
So some numpty takes a swing at you and you hit them, you are stuffed for life if they are under 18.
The secret of Morris’ genius is that he does not directly satirise sensitive subjects. He satirises the ludicrous overreaction people and the media have to these things.
The Peadogeddon episode of 2001 was a work of genius and perfectly summed the sheer madness of the paedophile witch hunts that the tabloid press where indulging in. Even more brilliantly the sheer anger the tabloid press had towards to the show (all incidentally from people who hadn’t seen it) totally vindicated him.
Have a look at the picture below, seriously just look. The sheer hypocrisy of the outrage was staggering.
If there has been one tabloid sensation which deserves satirising as much as the nonce hunts then it’s their reaction to terrorism. I’m only surprised it’s taken him so long. I’m really looking forward to this.

Since I haven't seen the special, I'm guessing the joke here is that this newspaper is vilifying the satire about pedo's on one page while talking up and showing a picture of a 15 year old on the other?
Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

If memory serves The Sun "newspaper" ran a similar rant piece about how it was shocking and disgusting and wrong and blah blah -- without having seen the show of course -- and then on the next page was all "nudge nudge wink wink" over pictures of Gilrs Aloud dressed up as schoolgirls.
There's plenty of clips on youtube/similar, his sense of the absurd really appeals to me, I really liked his Jam/BLuejam stuff.. but that's pretty odd and not to everyone's tastes I can see. But things like the "suicide journalist" just crack me up :

I've got no problem with the idea of a comedy about anything, as long as it's funny. I did have doubts the movie could be funny but that clip was hilarious.
mattyrm wrote:The media are determined to tell everyone that Islam is the religion of peace, im sick of hearing it. They never call Buddhism or Confucianism that despite them having a better track record. No, its "Relgion of Peace, Religion of Peace" Despite the almost endless list of events in New York, London, Madrid, Mumbai and others.
People don't say 'Buddhism is a religion of peace' because there's no-one out there saying 'Buddhism is a violent religion'. That's how debate works.
You've wandered into an interesting point though, this idea that Buddhism has a better record of peace than any other religion. Sure, the idea of Buddhism that's wandered into the west, full of platitudes and pleasantries is all about peace, but that's spirituality catered towards affluent, middle class people. A look into Buddhism in troubled parts of the world like Thailand, Tibet, India or Mongolia, and you'll see a faith that is very different and frequently used to justify violence. This is because it is a religion, and religions adapt to suit the needs of their audience.
The fixation with looking at terrorist violence as a result of religious teaching and not as a natural result of well documented social and economic factors will serve to continue the violence.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Seb, im not ignorant with the facts regarding Buddhism, notice i didnt say that it WAS peaceful, i said it had a better track record. I certainly didnt and dont think that Buddhism has a better track record than "any other" religion.
I dont think any Religion is blameless when it comes to people behaving irrationally as a mob, but i have to strongly disagree with your statement that we have a fixation with terrorist violence being a result of religious teaching and not because of social and economic factors.
Religious groups such as extremist muslims take young children and brainwash them into believing that "one day of Jihad is better than a hundered spent fasting and praying" and that they will be given an "ulitmate reward" if they give their lives to this cause. Poor people are frequently terrorists, as they have lower standards of education and are therefore more credulous, but so are rich ones. Did you not hear about the last guy? His father was a very wealthy man and he STILL attempted to blow up a plane.
Saying that it is NOT a result of Religious teachings and is simply down to social and economic factors is flat out wrong.
How many poor secularists wage a constant aggressive war against the other "side" like Religious nuts do? You dont get scummy council estate well fare kids of no real religious persuasion (like your average special brew swigging chav over here) waging a militant campaign against Toffs or Jews or whatever other group that might have somehow earned their ire. They just seem to act generally gak, but they dont wage a targetted campaign against a certain group.
Also, someone like that would never kill themselves in the process, except perhaps in an extremely rare case, maybe involving depression or something.
The whole point with these Jihaddis is that in a strange way, they are not bad people. They passionately believe due to a sustained brainwashing campaign that "God" wants them to kill people, so they dont see themselves as the bad guys. God wants me to fly this plane into a building, so i am not doing anything wrong, and i will be richly rewarded with it.
There are so many things wrong with your statment i dont even want to get into it as i will be here all night, but i cannot allow you to claim that the only reason this is happening is because they are poor and not because they are being systematically trained to act in a certain way thanks to a well funded and organised RELIGIOUSLY MOTIVATED band of terrorist scumbags.
We are arming Syrian rebels who support ISIS, who is fighting Iran, who is fighting Iraq who we also support against ISIS, while fighting Kurds who we support while they are fighting Syrian rebels.

That clip felt like one of those Ricky Gervais podcasts. Had the same kind of cadence especially since it was about addressing an idiot and revealing his idiocy/audacity through questioning and clarification similar to how Gervais does it. Didn't really seem that funny to be honest but it was just a tiny clip.
Sure, comedy can be about anything especially if its funny. Even about dark events like 7/7, 9/11, Pearl Harbor, Kennedy's Assassination, etc. However it could be argued that it'd be in pretty poor taste to release such a film shortly after those events although 'shortly' would have to be defined. Getting the wrong kind of attention from extremists of any kind may not be worth it.
In any case the infamous Uwe Boll already beat whoever this Chris Morris guy is to the terrorist comedy punch :
That movie was craptastic. Its also all about execution since some movies on these touchy subjects can be funny as long as they're there primarily to entertain than to shock/offend:

Relapse wrote:On the pedophile subject, does he make it seem that people blow that out of proportion?
The episode was about how parents are ruining childrens childhoods because they want to protect their childhood. All this is caused by the media pumping out stories like 'pedos live next door and are watching your kids'. pedophiles are rare, they are very rare, but the media makes it seem that ever male over 20 is a pedo. If you tell this to a media hysteria victim they then say 'but just look at the internet', the internet doesn't create pedos, it gives them an outlet and 'social networks', just like the internet doesn't make BDSM'ers it just gives them an outlet.
On this film, i would say going on past form it will be funny, probably very funny, but as with past form it will get the same outrage by people who have not seen the film and have go no link to the incidents it parodies, other than being in the same country. As the quote goes 'if you can't laugh at them they have won'. The film is not an attack on muslims, it is not an attack on victims of the attacks, its a film.
That negative reviewer is a bit of an idiot, paraphasing 'the explosions looked real', has he never seem mission impossible 2, independance day, every war film ever made, terminator salvation, the list goes on, the guy needs to grow up.
Newswipe did a good 'expose' of the media using non existing outrage to create actual outrage last week, i think its still on iplayer

Amen on the Witchunting ruining Kids childhoods, and I would like to postulate it actually makes our streets less safe for the snotty nosed ones.
Why do I say this? Couple of years ago, I was in Woolworths getting some new Star Wars figures (for meself), and there was a kid in the aisle, probably about 4 or 5, crying for his Mummy. Now my first instinct was to look after the kid, telling him not to worry, and that if he stayed in the aisle, his Mummy would find him, and that wandering around meant his Mummy would take longer to find him. Then sadly common sense came into it. Grown man, in a Toy Section, with a Kiddy wanting his Mummy. Rather than be thanked for looking out for the nipper, I'd likely be accused of trying to abduct him. So I felt no choice but to walk away, leaving the Kid to his own devices and hoping his Mum found him soon (I got lost in a supermarket around that age. It wasn't fun).
So, net result? I cannot be the only one fearing more about personal accusations than what might happen to a lost Kid. So those lost kids are at greater risk, as most adults dare not get involved.

That's a harsh scenario you were in, and it does make a person feel like dogcrap because of possible consequences if they help.
Something I really hate is seeing a parent whipping a small kid around by their arm because they've gotten a bit fussy. True I don't know the full circumstance of what's happening, but when they get within an ace of pulling the kid's arm out of socket, I've been known to tell them not to insult me by thinking I'll just stand by and watch them cripple a child.

Are you kidding? When I had my little boy in day care I hated having to pick him up. The only acceptable behavior I could tell was for me to show up, go straight in, get him, and then leave. If I sat in the car for a moment going over papers, fixing my music, whatever I'd have soccer moms staring at me. If I looked at any kids but my own the daycare workers would glare at me. Heaven help me if I bent down and talked to one of them. There was a flat out ban on men helping out with the kids as well. Moms were ok to volunteer to help out, men forget it.

Wow! Blatant sex discrimination case right there. I suppose the law is different in the USA.
I've been in the same situation as MDG but I try to help if it is essential. For example, if a toddler is rushing off into the street I'm not going to stand by and let him be run over.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Anyway, the point about paedo phobia and "stranger danger" is that the majority of paedophile activities occur within families.
The more children are kept at home, the greater the statistical chance of them being interfered with.

I've not had this as a problem and am even a DOGs (Dad of Girl Scout) and have been asked to help out with lots of things. Children naturally try make me hold their stuff and then climb on me. Frazzled used to being beast of burden to other children's needs.
In an aisle or other circumstance, have the kid stay there, grab a woman and bring her back whilst you go to find a manager. The key is to get another adult in there. At worst two of you can stay while you use the cell to call the manager.
You might have been just getting surprised instances from soccer moms not used to seeing men. We never had the issue of volunteering being a problem but the whole structure is to have two adults in a situation at all times (church or scouting-similar rule).

Australia (Recently ravaged by the Hive Fleet Ginger Overlord)
When I was a kid (i don't know 6-7? ) I got left behind in the park. (I fell asleep under a tree and my firends party left without me.) When I woke up I spent about an hour playing hide and seek. With myself. I was cursing my inability to find anyone else. A young couple realized I was lost and took me to a nearby cafe while they called around. I didn't really know what was going on. I just knew that these people were feeding me ice-cream. Although, I never really did get a chance to say thanks.
(Sorry, I just thought this story would point out that kids really don't give a damn about stranger danger when ice-cream is involved.)

Emp you reminded me when i got lost, i think i very young as i only just remember the incident, maybe i was 4 or 5 or something.
I stopped to stare at something in a store window, when i looked around 2 minutes later my mum had vanished so i started to cry, and then a woman ran out of the local bakers, thrust some confectionary into my hands and told me to stand in the window.
I think the tears vanished instantly as i stood in the window yaffling a bag of donuts, and i remember even though i was very young, quite enjoying myself because lots of people were smiling and waving at me and i had a big paper bag full of sweets.
Unfortunately my mother turned up shortly afterwards..

One of my friends is male, 23, and is a Water Polo coach, teaching boys and girls from about 14-15 through to adult (obviously in different sessions) and he has to be so careful it is untrue.
Someone else I know is a football coach, and they always have the rule of 2 whenever dealing with kids, especially kids on their own - always have someone else there with you.
