I don't think Necrons got hurt by 5th, I just think you have to play them very differently than in 4th is all.
The hilarity of this sentence is that it contains the word think.
son, that wasn't a thought you had there it was a brainfart.
Necrons weren't so much hit by the nerf bat as stomped by a thousand nerf titans singing the nerf song in the land of nerf.

I agree with both of you. I would say that, in general, DE plastics are good enough, while DE metal minis suck. The only problem I see with Warriors, is that Dark Lances and blasters were not included in the sprue. And for the Ravager, if the only change made with it were going full-plastic, with the same pieces (ala Land Raider Crusader) it would be ok for me.
We need good plastics. And better designs, but for me that's in the second position in my wishlist.

Why we don't have a new Eldar jetbike is beyond me. The "prototype" pic, which looked like it was damn near finished, has been floating around for years now and there's not even been an inkling of a release.

Maybe GW still has loads of Eldar Jetbikes in their warehouses that need to be sold before they release new ones? (complete conjecture)
When I see Jes Goodwin designed DE minis with a new DE codex, I'll have money in hand.

Since DE are basically the emo Eldar,if they are redone properly, then there should finally be an army out there worse than Tau in CC...

Actually, Craftworld Eldar are the "emo" ones as they like to keep to themselves, always do things very few come to understand and constantly remind themselves of what they did wrong. Hell, their rune of Isha is an Eye with tear drops if I recall.
Dark Eldar are the more death metal biker guys with lots of spikes all over themselves and being roudy in gatherings, taking the sweet innocent girls to deflower and shame later.

The Dark Eldar have a pretty good list and a ton of anti-tank/armor weapons available to them. The problem has always been that the figures just plain suck. Too many mixed metaphors in the makeup. Bats, spikes, blades, Dark Elves, Prancing, etc. make it difficult to have a cohesive theme other than "chaos eldar".
If I were in charge of designing the line, they'd be pre-heracy eldar incorporating slanesh visual themes. Drop the bugs, bats, etc. and go with blades and B&D/S&M look. Stop making stupid big-head helmets with oversized blades on them. Give them broken or shattered wraithstones on their armor and equipment but make them visually look like Eldar.
I've always wondered why the Dark Eldar would simply abandon their military equipment and redesign everything from the ground up just because they're "dark".

Hmmm. I seriously wonder what a plastic Shadow Weaver could be tied in to. Some future battles book (like Planetstrike or COD) perhaps? Or the DE codex, as a multi-race option with both a DE build and an Eldar build, as was rumored previously.
As for the aesthetics of the main Eldar line, I'd lay good money on them going more retro pre-fall Eldar, with the visuals being heavily informed by the awesomeness that was the recent WHFB Corsairs kit, plus sails etc. I'm predicting a more Blanche space-pirate thing will be going on.
Okay, wishing. But predicting too.
@Flashman: Plastic Wraithguard are probably a shoo-in for whenever they redo the basic Eldar codex, but highly unlikely in the DE release. I'll be selling my 25 for a killing well before that, methinks. Having them around for Apoc just isn't worth the ton of cash that they could represent if broken into groups of 5 and sold on eBay instead. Cash that could be saved for DE kits to convert with. Hmm.
@Tho665: LMAO.

Dark Eldar are suburbanite yuppie kids who wish they were hardcore, but are actually poseur types in the KISS / GWAR mode. OTOH, if they were simply redone as Chaos Eldar, that would be a lot easier for everybody.

Really... Dark Eldar are all 1990's era itchy-teethed industrial-goths that have gone a bit to far with their whips, vinyl, electrical tape and piercings. Wash down some combat drugs with some framboise lambic while listening to nine inch nails and call it good.
That said, I know a lot of folks who can't wait to see the army, especially with Jes at the helm. It has the potential to shake up the meta game quite a bit with transports that can be taken down by bolters and yet can use dark lances that can take apart everyone else's dedicated transports with ease. Add in the potential for a major revamp to play-style (since their codex is sooooo old) and they could be a real blast to play with or to play against. I mean, just look at all the hype that rumored Blood Angels lander was creating and think of the potential THIS army has to break open the meta with fast, skimmer, open-topped transports full of all-new alien tech and... well, just watch out!
2010 or 2011... even 2012 and they'll be a welcome addition to the game.

Given that the Imperium is pretty obviously evil to the most casual of observers, Chaos Eldar aren't a problem.
Non-Chaos "DarK" Eldar are a major reason why they failed - people expected and wanted Chaos Eldar, and didn't get them.

Uh, no- they failed because:
1) The models were utterly pants, and
2) The first version of their rules were totally unworkable except for a few boring spam builds. After the fixes were applied, it was too late to ride the new-release wave, especially with such ugly models.
Reasons for failure aside, DE were at least a good first step towards something worthwhile, and a great deepening of the 40K universe. The background was a first try at extending the narrative in a direction other than "Chaos vs. non-Chaos." It had some thin parts, particularly the motivation for the DE to be such terrible baddies rather than just selfish fugitives. GW fell back on their Chaos model, of being spiky and aggressive with no reason other than that some fundamental force of the universe is all spiky and aggressive. Boooooring.
Most people want more than the old 2-sided story about Spess Mahreenz and Bad Spess Mahreenz. BL books that twist the narrative or give it greater depth have been quite popular (Legion's xeno-human alliance twist, the Abnett novels featuring non-human interaction with Chaos, William King's great but unfinished Farseer series, Pawns of Chaos giving better motivation and explanation to the forces of the warp, etc. etc.). The DE codex could take this further, extending the conflict beyond the Imperium and it's endless war of attrition, and deepening the background of the Eldar in general. And honestly, given the quality of recent codices it probably will do that pretty competently.
Anyways, the bit about a Raider with a sail strengthens hopes that the new DE will be closer to regular Eldar styling, like the battlescene in the DE fluff part of the rulebook. The possibilities for kitbashing are intriguing.
