Alright, Sidstyler, no, I was not given the bag for free. I bought it with my own money. Your flaming adds nothing to the conversation so save it for the sadistic twelve year olds.
With Battlefoam, it's pretty much guaranteed that stuff won't break beyond easy 2 second repairs. Since when was there a case that you could beat someone over the head with, and still have your models perfectly fine? (Yes, I have tried.)
Yes, it sucks that they are expensive, but IF you want a Sabol or GW case, just spend the extra couple of dollars for a good quality system.
And come on, guys, grow up. Stop flaming. I'm just givin opinnions and feedback. I expected better from Dakka. With all due respect, please stay on the damned topic.

I bought a German 'Feldherr' case, and even shipped to the US it was a great deal. I am VERY pleased with this purchase. The customer service was great, the price was very competitive and the product is excellent.
Check em out, I now own 2 of the hard-cases:

That said, some of the guys at my club have Battlefoam and really love it.

IMO, there is no excuse to not get one.
-They could just pick up the Sabol and GW cases and walk to the counter.
-They can get more trays for those cases just by stopping by their local store.
-They like the size of those cases.
-They like buying from their local store.
-They like spending less money.
But I will point out that those aren't really excuses not to buy battlefoam, they were reasons to buy Sabol or Games Workshop cases.
My FLGS carries Battlefoam (admittedly, no custom-cut trays along that route).
I'm waiting on the 720; I need a carryon-sized case, and I'd prefer one with greater structural integrity than my current Sabol case. Bonus points if the wheels actually are useful.
Oh, I have BF too. It's the big green thing sitting in the corner the last few months, that no one wants without the custom foam trays.) Ordered 24, had 12 pre-orders. Told the guys I couldn't get custom foam at all, 10 pre-orders went away. 1 later cancelled, 1 picked his up. Sold one at 35% off to get rid of it. Other sits in the corner waving to the sabol cases as they walk out the door each week. BF with custom foam is pretty cool. BF half filled with picknpluck doesn't seem to be nearly so cool an item. YMMV

It's a point. If BF wants to have stable relationships with game stores, it can't be cheaper to buy case+custom foam directly from them, versus at least buying the case locally.

I've tried Feldherr, GW, Sabol and Battlefoam army transport. Feldherr and Battlefoam are my favorite. If you're living in Europe and don't really care about custom trays, then Feldherr is the way to go for mid-sized armies (backpack powa!). For larger maries I'd recommend expanding with Battlefoam stuff.
Sabol is less of an option since it's very difficult to get in Europe at a decent price. GW is Ok I guess if you don't have access to something else, but the case isn't really sturdy...

Its hardly "a couple bucks". For what I would pay for a custom loadout 432, I could almost buy two filled Motor Pools. And that's minus shipping.
Granted, I do use Battlefoam in my Motor Pool (40 man troop trays) because they hold more than Sabol and they're more sturdy than Outrider Hobbies' stuff. I even bought them before they went on permanent sale
Maybe in a few years if Battlefoam takes off it will be made a little more affordable, but as it stands now I'll stick with my Sabol stuff.

I also spend hours painting my stuff, and ask anyone that knows me, they wil say my armies are painted very well. I don't buy the claim that the walmart cases will "dump your minis in the parking lot". Sounds more like someone with an investment in BF(whether emotional or monetary) than anything else.
The thing you are forgetting is that you pay the 15.50 for the box and then fill it with foam. Either sabol pluck foam or even Battle foam's, foam if you want. Although the pluck stuff is cheaper, and quite frankly does the job quite nicely.
Also... I'm not denying that the BF system isn't a great system. I'm just disputing the notion that BF is "the only way to go for army transport".
When it clearly isn't, and can be done almost as nicely much cheaper.

I can tell you that those Wal-Mart carts fall apart and tip over if you sneeze in their direction. Your models might be in foam, but that does not stop your box from falling over. pLus the one you linked is not very easy to transport from Home to Store. Now for storing at your home, not a bad system.
BTW I have no emotional nor economical investment in BF. I use a medal tool box, and place magnets on the bases of my models to keep them from sliding. The only two times I had a problem with breakage is once I had to hit the brakes and turn hard to avoid a car, and another a deer T-boned my while I was doing 55. Both times the tool box turned over in the trunk.

I am all for competition and options. Saying that I own 2 Sabol Motorpools and have 3 Sabol regular Army Transports (oh and a platoon transport).
Granted only the 2 Motorpools (one holds Nids the other my salamanders) and the 3 regular bags hold my OOP stuff.
I do like the foam from battlefoam, but I cant really pay that much when I already have Sabol bags.
They are great looking bags, but for me, the cost vs what I already own is not equal to the advantages.
Like some others say, if/when the prices approach the rest of the competition, I may move across to Battlefoam.

I'm waiting as well. GW cases have done well for my first two armies and are not any more expensive than the competition for what they were. This new 'nid army, however, will require some custom attention. The 1520 is just too big for what I need, but I can't fit a trygon/mawloc in the 432, so hopefully the 720 is the perfect size.
I've seen them in person, and Sabol works okay, but you do get what you pay for. Those BF cases are worth every penny.

Hyperbole much? I've gotten several cases from Wal-mart that I had to add foam too and haven't messed me up yet. If anything I've had more trouble from the foam itself as a tiny part gets hooked on it and falls off the model. Just popped over to the Battlefoam website. Looks like an awesome product, but I ran a few numbers. It seems pretty clear that I'd be spending about 2/3 of the cost of my IG army to get a case capable of holding everything. Admittedly I tend to buy used so that skews my figures, but IMHO, it's far from "the only way to go"
I have no doubt that it's an amazing system, but I think I'll stick to my homebrew systems that are nearly as good at a tiny fraction of the price.

The bottom line is, just do what you can afford/want to do.
It's your stuff, do what you want with it. I know if I was confident in my ability to handle my stuff, I would do some homebrew system, but I'm not. So I grabbed a 1520.
No one should really frown if they don't have the name brand, stuff. If it's effective and keeps your army safe, more power to you.

I personaly make my own cases. I will confess to never having myself seen or held a bf case so I have no personal understanding of their quality. From what I can gather they are a very expensive and very high quality foam and bag system that is one of the best you can get. I personally am a craftsman, both big and small. I painted my models and built the table and board that they play on, so I like building my own stuff. As to my case I acquired a foam mattress for free (someone was throwing it out) and cut it up to proper trays and shapes before putting it in a metal tool box I got also for very cheep. Some who are not the best at working with their hands in a macro sense then buying a case premade should work, but for those who can make their own I can assure you it is of excellent quality and gives you a great satisfaction of knowing you made a successful case. Bf is not the only option.

I hope this is not directed toward me. I mentioned how I transport my models. A metal tool box is hardly elitist. As far as my comment on the Wal-Mart stand, I stansd by the comment. I have owned a few for other reasons (no 40K), and every time i try to move it a wheel falls off and the whole things tips over.

I use the Sabol bags I have to ferry stuff around the house. I used to try the loose tray system, but
then I had stacks of trays that made it all obvious how many miniatures I had. So now I bag stuff
to make it easier.
Moving stuff into my Battlefoam pretty much freed up two bags for me to move loose trays into.

I use these guys: http://www.krmulticase.co.uk/mainuk.html
For me, incredibly cheap to get hold of, and a case can hold a lot more figures than a GW case (for a fraction of the price). I don't even have the aluminium case cover yet, but the regular cardboard cases are really sturdy (I've been into the GW in town a few times with it, no signs of wear yet). I do plan on getting the aluminium case, and a few sheets of pick-and-pluck foam for my Nids though.
Battlefoam looks really useful, but I just can't justify paying that price. For me, it'd be £70 for a 216 with foam. For that, I can get three full boxes of KR cases (480 models). While the Battlefoam bags and custom trays are nice, the cost is a huge offputting factor for me. KR are starting to produce custom trays now, so I'll likely stick with them until Battlefoam becomes more reasonable.

Hyperbole much? If a Battlefoam costs 'an entire paycheck' them maybe you have better things to do with your money than play Wargammer/Warhammer 40k at all. If your WHOOOOOOOOOOLE paycheck is 2-300$ a week then you are below the US poverty line to an extreme sense. That is less than unemployment in some places. You shouldn't be spending a DIME on miniatures as you have much bigger issues with your life if a case equals the value of an entire paycheck.

Enough foam to fill it: 150$ http://www.foambymail.com/picknpluckcr.html
My Battlefoam Pack 1520 with all custom cut foam, 224$ Shipping included.
How am I saving money with the walmart case and filling it with foam myself? I have yet to see a walmart solution which wasn't just as expensive as the professional solutions which wasn't the equivalent to me carrying around my minis like a 5-year old does with his action figures.

Wow, this thread sparked up fast. What we need to remember here is that some of us just don't have the money/time/will to be bothered to buy something. Zack makes a good point in that if you are willing to spend more money on an army transport, than you might as well go with something that has high quality. And I am certainly interested in Battlefoam, but I do not have the funds to fully purchase a pack WITH the custom foam, and I'm settling with the standard GeeDubyah case, or maybe Sabol. On the other hand, some of us just don't believe that we should shell out that much for something like army transport. Battlefoam is undoubtedly expensive, around the $224 if nkelsch is correct. (Not that I'm doubting you, there might be something cheaper is all I'm saying) Now, like much of Dakka, I don't have a lot of money. Whether it's due to cash flow or age restrictions, (I'm 16 and jobless, so I don't have much cash) some of us would rather spend the money on our precious, precious toys. I use cheap Wal-mart storage, and I find it works fine, IMHO. Just some soft padding for 'em and I'm good to go.

The only Battlefoam I own is the Flames of War case and that was only $100. It has enough room to hold both my infantry armies, an armored force, and extra space. The pluck foam trays don't pluck to the right size for most FOW bases so this was a good investment for me. Other than that I have one Sabol Platoon case (their smallesst) that I switch out for what I'm playing.
So, I have no emotional or financial interest in denouncing your options or promoting others.
But I'm telling you, if you buy that $15 dollar Wal-Mart cart and fill it with foam, it will come apart when you try to move it and you will be picking up your models off the ground at some point.
Sterilite makes horribly cheap products and I wouldn't even reccomend them for everyday storage. A toolbox would server you much better.

And so, due to rising costs of maintaining the Golden Throne, the Emperor's finest accountants spoke to the Demigurg. A deal was forged in blood and extensive paperwork for a sub-prime mortgage with a 5/1 ARM on the Imperial Palace. And lo, in the following years the housing market did tumble and the rate skyrocketed leaving the Emperor's coffers bare. A dark time has begun for the Imperium, the tithes can not keep up with the balloon payments and the Imperial Palace and its contents, including the Golden Throne, have fallen into foreclosure. With an impending auction on the horizon mankind holds its breath as it waits to see who will gain possession of the corpse-god and thus, the fate of humanity...... |

Walmart case: 50$ http://www.walmart.com/ip/Rubbermaid-35-Durabull-Industrial-Toolbox/10569595
This whole post is so filled with inaccuracies, I don't know where to start.
1: No one would buy that rubbermaid thing, you linked, to transport their minis in, because it is too big and unwieldy.
2: The 1510 costs $336 on the BF website not $224. or $162 empty + $144 for a IG load out (as an example) thats $306, still not $224.
3: It would probably take 2 or 3 of those 1520 packs to fill up that rubber maid thing you linked, so multiply your $336 X 3 for over $1000 bucks. for equivalent BF storage.
The wall mart thing I linked cost $15.50 and throw in $100 of pluck foam and that adds up to under your $224. You could also use something like this which costs $19.50 from office depot http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/987304/Office-Depot-Brand-Mobile-Folding-File/
So there you go, now you have seen proof that there are solutions that aren't just as expensive as "professional" solutions, which aren't the equivalent of you carrying around your minis, like a 5 year old.
