I LOVE your use of colour... everything looks dark and suits the Black Templar idea perfectly, but still adds a lot of pop and places for the eye to focus on. very different from what i did with my BlackTemplar but awesome! can't wait to see more!

Not a big update but I have a new setup now for my camera and I just wanted to try it out. Everything on this piece of the model is now done. I have undercoat the backpack which will have a banner attached to it so I'll start to paint those parts today. Hope you enjoy these four pictures. The cape came out much better on these pictures aswell.

Thanks for the comments guys, I appreciate it.

I'm like 95% with his head now and it's glued on. Really gave him more character and I'm happy so far. Tomorrow is the day to start on right arm which should be painted up pretty quickly. I'll see what I can do to finish this guy this weekend because I'm going to a birthday party tomorrow and and probably have a hangover on sunday.

Cya soon guys!

its been a while, but the model looks great!
when your done with that one start up the rest of your tac squad. it will look great.

a tip though, in WD there was an article about using a deep blue wash for the recesses of red capes, and it looked great. you should try it out.

cant wait to see the model done

Yeah, I'm planning on painting some tactical marines when this is finished.

Blue shade you say? How funny, because I used blue to shade this. WD is too slow for me.

Thganks for the comments guys! Means alot!

Could you list the stages of painting the cloak, it looks magnificent. Also that metal figure looks so different with a helmeted head...its quite funny :L

Basecoat Chaos black
Basecoat Scab Red
Shade with Scab red + chaos black and then do some touch ups with Scab Red
Blend up to pure Red Gore
Blend up to Red Gore + Blazing Orange
Shade with first Regal Blue + Badab Black or Devlan Mud
Shade with pure Regal Blue

Done. Between every stage though you should touch up any mistakes or else the finished result will look really bad. That's how I do it. There is a million ways on how to paint red cloth but I like this way. :p

And it's finished.

This is the best miniature I've painted. 'Nuff said. I did not forgot to do free hand on the white shoulder pad and I did not forgot to do free hand on the backpack. I just let it be. I don't think it's necessary. I like it this way and I'm so happy how he turned out. Of course there are things I could improve (THE AXE FOR EXAMPLE) but I don't want to get stuck with this miniature for ever. He is now standing proudly in my display case and makes my other miniatures look like !¤%"%&/.

I hope you enjoy. 8 Pictures! NO WAY! Oh, and I took 2 pictures from a distance to show how he will look at the tabletop. :p

I wasn't 100% sure of what to paint next. I was thinking on painting some troopers and just relax without having to think about details all over the model. Then I saw something that caught my attention.. I started to clean it up.. undercoated some parts.. and started to paint it..

This should be fun. I don't know if I stick to this miniature until it's done though. We'll see what happens. I'm really looking forward to paint it!
