Yeah, it sounds really bad if you allow yourself to look at it in that way. On the other hand, you could look at it as the intelligent, resourceful Necrons recognise a greater threat and re-focus teir attentions on that. In the aftermath of the war, the Necrons are so heavily damaged that continuing the original conflict with the Blood Angels would have been a disaster, so they make the smart choice and withdraw (for the time being). It doesn't have to mean that they were all friends and hand-shakes - war is far more complex than that.
Still, if you choose to interpret background narrowly and are unwilling to take the odd leap and make the odd inference to keep things running smoothly then that's a personal choice... but know that it's quite possible to set things up in a non-lame manner. It's in your hands.

it seems to me that the BA in general are known for breaking fluff storylines that everyother bit of info out there has built up
if you read those BA books from BL you know what i mean, sure all the stuff in it is cool in theory but then you realize that like 1200 marines have died over the course of the novels and its all apparently from 1 or 2 companies.
so idk if its a intentional flaw that GW did so that people would have to find a way to mend the broken peices of fluff all over without them having to spend any money or they just dont give a s**t anymore

Get the impression it is the latter Scottfree.
That or they are taking the mick.
Just been looking at the SW timeline, some of which is really stretching my ability to suspend disbelief. Driving land raiders along a deep sea bed to triumph over sub-aquatic Tau. Ok, hands up all the SW fans that play with their land raiders in the bath. (and don't get your tau stuck in the tap/fawcet)
An odd leap of the imagination is one thing but personally I prefer a sense of internal logic. Which perhaps demands a more rigorous act of creative imagination.
Iggy's summation seems more the more likely. Why would the nids attack robots when there is tinned meat available?

I think most of you are overreacting and are being a bit to narrowminded on this. Yes some of the fluff is a tad goofy. Like Dante not being willing to turn on the Necrons, but the Necrons can easily be seen fighting Tyranids. Maybe it wasn't exactly allying but think about it a second.
Necrons want to harvest all life and souls in the galaxy. Tyranids want to consume all biomass in the galaxy. If the Tyranids consumed all the biomass, then there would be no souls to harvest. Now if the Nids came down to that planet to eat the Angels and whatever other life there was, the Necrons could potentionally not want to compete with another race for souls/food and from there I think Xyptc got it pretty good with the Necrons being intelligent or to heavily damaged.
Lastly on Sanguinor, he can be a number of things I've heard speculated about at the moment. He is Sanguinus personified, He is a 10000 year old Space Marine who was Sanguinius's personal guard and retainer. If he's the first, why shouldn't he be able to own Ka'bhanda's arse when Sanguinius broke him over his knee. I mean, atleast the Sanguinor isn't choking Avatars or 1-Shot KOing them.
On Dante 1 shotting Skarbrand. If I remember correctly, that is only a LEGEND, that Dante does not want to disprove as he believes it gives people hope and that is what they need.
You guys need to stop twisting the words and context of some of this fluff and learn to think outside of the box for a minute about some of this. Perhaps when the new Necron codex comes out we will see something akin to more sentience among the Crons and the Lords.

Just looked at the fluff again, it's even worse a second time.
Dante Owns Skarbrand in Hand to hand combat. I mean One shotted by "A single blow that cleaved him in two." The guy that nicked Khorne's Armor, Cut in half by Dante WTF.
To top that Ka'Bandha gets his butt kicked by Sanguinor, after he downs a captain.
So basicly He can do more that 100 greyknights and a bunch of BA can, with minimal effort. But then He is Count Dracula
The rest of the SM codex is barely any better, like Shrike and Khan being BFFs. Anything related to Sicarius was pretty bad.

I don't disagreed with the rage, but I think it's being blown out of proportion. Sure the Necron thing made me turn my head and say WT but then I thought about it for a minute, and minus the Dante not wanting to turn on recent allies and the Crons being tired(what?) it didn't seem so bad and made me wonder if perhaps this is a hint at some fluff in the new Cron Dex(Emperor only knows whenever that'll come out.) And if the Sanguinor appearing EVERY SINGLE(caps for emphasis) to help the Angels when they are losing is true then yes thats a tad lame and a bit to much, but on him pwning Avatars and Ka'bhanda read my previous post and again about Dante and Skarbrand read my previous post.

Current intelligence points to a new Necron Codex coming out either late this year or early next year, along with a host of new models. In addition, the section of the 5th Edition rulebook that covers Necron background states that many (but not all) Necron Lords retain their sentience (but not necessarily their sanity). GW definitely seems to be pushing to bring more character and personality to the Necron Lords. While the idea of such fanatical spehss mehreens SUFFRAN THE XENO TO LIVE and the awesomely named Silent King deciding to not annhilate said spehss mehreens is silly, it would make a degree of sense in light of GW's subtle alterations of Necron fluff.
Or it could just be that the Silent King had read the Blood Angels codex and knew that the Blood Angels had such effective plot armor (cough cough SANGUINOR) that trying to kill them would be counterproductive.

But pretty much all that happened was Dante and the Lord stopping their fight and fighting the Nids. The Necrons want to kill everyone why wouldn't they just kill both sides. The thing about the story that is causing the rage is the fact that they just left and that Dante didn't wanna fight them.
I have a problem with everything about the BA's easily slicing through everything through these things is an issue.

Well the nids beat the BA to the punch with the swarmlord when it comes to the unbeatable plot armoured death monster. Interestingly enough, unlike the sanguinor, he actually doesn't suck in the game either.

I agree with the people who write the posts about thinking through it and what not. And yes, tbh, whether GW knows it or not, it is saying something about the 'cronz. Take the world engine, it's just blind violence. They could've targeted Terra ffs, but they didn't. The Necron's are building up more of a command structure (see rumours on bronze, silver, gold, platinum lords) and are thinking more. There are even some quotes here and there of necron Lord's speaking. So, they are getting more tactical. And they're adapting to the universe in it's current state. Give them another world engine, and they'd off terra. Which would be :(. But onto the Dante and Necrons V 'nids; they probably had some scheme or tactical reason not to fight on. Don't just get angry over what sounds stupid, but speculate on it's possible meaning's for the future.... gah.. But then again that first post was pretty funny

I'm not sure about the blood angels fluff but thier rule are oh so broken. Deep stiking land raiders. All death company stuff are TROOPS!. THAT INLCUDES LEMARTES AND DREADNOUGHTS. BAAL PREDATOR IS A FAST ATTACK. I might as well say that because my diy chapter is so awesome everbody has 20 attacks and in the state of things they will be considered UNDERPOWERED!!
And I agree with whoever suggested that the sangiunor is a Deus Ex Mechenica. Because he is. But it is not always a poor plot device, I have seen it done tastefully.

The rules are hardly that broken, again people need to think things through.
Deep Striking Land Raider. Do they have the 1" rule if they land in terrain or on an enemy? If not, these are some big tanks, and will be very prone to mishaps. Sure there are ways around this if you pay the points, but I never plan on taking any Raiders if I have to Deep Strike them.
Death Company as Troops. They aren't scoring, and with Jump Packs they are more expensive then Obama's Healthcare Bill. I plan on taking these every game, but more for fluff reasons then competitive ones.
Lemartes. He doesn't seem any more OP then Arjac or Lukas for the Wolves, and certainly not as bad as Doom. Lemartes is only good for his model in my opinion yea he could be a monster in CC with 1 wound left, but for his cost I wouldn't care.
Death Company Dreadnaughts. Troop Dreads, OH NOES! Except, if I remember right they are subject to Rage USR are they not? If not they are still NOT scoring even though they are troops. 12/12/10 Dreads are just as prone to Anti-tank fire and melta bombs and melta guns as every other dreadnaught. Only difference here is they are immune to stun/shaken I believe.
Baal Predator in fast attack. I don't see the problem with this to be honest. Fast Attack doesn't change the rules other then saying "Hey look Blood Angels can take 6 predators now". Rhino Chasis counting as Fast vechicles is another thing though.

I just don't like the part (I've heard) where the BA team up with renegades, can someone please confirm that / give details? Don't have the codex myself.
Everything else I can probably, eventually, rationalize to myself as propaganda or BA camp fire stories to get the new recruits pumped up, but siding with renegades beggars all belief.

The bit where they team up with renegades is fine. Turns out that a Blood Angel Successor Chapter that has been declared Renegade shows up to help out on the fringes of the campaign, but basically tries to stay out of the way of any loyalist forces so as to avoid any issues.

@BrotherStynier: I agree about the SM book, the BLUE MUHHREENZ fluff p d me off. 2th Company kills Zanzag and his 50.000 orks without trouble, then some years later Sicarius gets WTF pwned by a necron lord, and the war is won by an exploding Dreadnought. And the intro part about some chapters "trying to follow the example of Guilleman", while others like Blood Angles tries, but can`t because of genetic mutation, and then chapters like Black Templars "being to stubborn to follow Guillemans ways, and thus their numbers are falling away fast". What did Guilleman do that was so good, other than writing a book?

The only exceptions being that one time when Hive Fleet Behemoth NOM NOM NOM'd their homeworld, and that other time when Captain Uriel Ventris made the brilliant move of CHARGAN FORWARD IN THA NAME OF THA EMPRAH into a Necron tomb, thus waking up the Nightbringer.

Baal Predator in fast attack. I don't see the problem with this to be honest. Fast Attack doesn't change the rules other then saying "Hey look Blood Angels can take 6 predators now". Rhino Chasis counting as Fast vechicles is another thing though.Well lets also point out that is got the Scouts USR and its a fast vehicle.

Death Company as Troops. They aren't scoring, and with Jump Packs they are more expensive then Obama's Healthcare Bill.
I haven't laughed that hard in a long time!
As for why necrons and tyranids are not friends. The tyranids are in fact controlled by the Outsider C'tan who has a serious beef with the other C'tan and their necron playthings

-Any terrain containing Sly Marbo is dangerous terrain.
-Sly Marbo once played an objective mission just to see what it was like to not meet every victory condition on his own.
-Sly Marbo bought a third edition rulebook just to play meat grinder as the attacker.
-Marbo doesn't need an Eldar farseer as an ally; his enemies are already doomed
-Sly Marbo was originally armed with a power weapon, but he dropped it while assaulting a space marine command squad just so his enemies could feel pain
-Sly Marbo still attacks the front armor value in assault, for pity's sake. |
