Shh, lighten up now.

Always nice to hear something about the Dark Eldar but these rumours are not enough to get me excited.

My Punisher would like to have a word with you....

As if on cue, you hear two people singing from the stairwell, and the door is opened and a pair of very smelly, very dirty guardsmen stumble in, completely drunk, and covered in vomit, and immediately collapse unconsious on the porch. You drag them to their beds, realising that they will not be waking up for some time.

I have no problems with this. I always viewed my DE army (the Cabal of the Blue Meanies) as Slannesh lovers.

It does seem a bit out there...

Still, there are just rumors and/or wishlisty things at this point!

Reading through the actual Warseer thread the, 'no power weapons' seems to be changed. Seems it was a playtesting option that did not work.

And if these rumors are true, they'll be shootier than tau... It makes me wanna cry.

Well, I hope it's true and actually happening. And I hope the resculpts are actually good. If the new DE Codex and minis turn out nicely, I would actually be tempted to maybe buy a few 40k minis again.

As far as photographic evidence goes, I know Whitedragon has some photos of the new Dark Eldar greens, and they look pretty nice. Maybe he'll post them for us?

A DE revamp that changes them to Slaanesh worshippers? Either they deliberately went and made them what everyone complained that they seemed like, or they simply don't care if the fluff makes sense. (which is supported by their track record).

Well, if they truly are revamping the fluff then it's very possible that chaos-eldar is the new direction. As has been stated numerous times, s&m pirate-y elves wasn't attractive to many players. Chaos Eldar would be a departure from the previous fluff, but could also garner much more attention.

Well, maybe C.S.Goto got a contract as a background writer To be fair, the rumour only states that a banned Lord leads a Slaanesh cult, not that the Dark Eldar as a whole worship Slaanesh. Still, it goes contrary to my perception of Eldar as well.

Anyway, here a test sculpt by Juan Diaz, shown 2 years ago at the GD Spain. Test sculpts usually are not released, but exceptions are imaginable:

I hope the models have an "eldar" look to them so that I can use my eldar army as DE.. Maybe 75% of the DE book wont be obsolete due to 5th ed!

On the topic of "changing the DE fluff"..Seriously? DE have no fluff.. Any fluff the DE have is basically from your own imagination.. They have 1 page in their codex and 1 picture!

The text in the yellow box says, in the lines 3 to 7:

"Seems that technology hasn't still reached Juan's skills: both beatifully sculpted Dark Eldar that you can see above this lines will not be sold because the metal used for the melting of the miniatures could not flow through the little ramifications generated by the very thin and fibred torso muscles and the arms in the mould. Tood bad, because they are really impressive models. Juan has perfectly catched the Dark Eldar spirit, the expression, the dressing, the mocking faces."

Not sure about this one.

On the one hand I can see GW doing this as part of their "lighten up it's just a game" mindset, but on the other I can see this causing people to not want to play against the DE.

Does anyone else have a vision of somebody's Cheeto coated fingers pushing their models around "because my Codex says I can"?

Of course, why they couldn't be cast in resin by FW remains a mystery to this day...

Was FW making infantry minis for armies in 2000? I would say they started later to do that.

FW has had the Titan Techpriest, along with other Charater models for a long time. There's ample precedent for releasing each of those models as a named Character from FW.

An interesting concept and one I would certainly use since I always take some Haemonoculi in my army. However, I would never presuppose that this rule would allow me to touch another players models. If it ends up being true, It'd be something where I'd say the owning player will move them how I like . Given all the 'tricks' DE originally had, have been either taken by other armies or made into USR's, I'm glad to see they are thinking of new things to make DE play different than existing armies. Still we'll all just have to see what actually happens.

Hypothetically speaking if the one IC makes a Kabal a Slaaneshi cult, wouldn't it be awesome if they could summon Slaaneshi deamons?

GW Exec: How can we sell more models?
Peon: We can make Dark Eldar the be all - end all of codexes and give them a special rule to take control of units they break. But, here's the cunning part, they have to have their own painted models of the unit to use the rule. So everyone wants to play DE as a result and DE players have to buy at least a full squad of every unit in the game just in case.
GW Exec: perfect! I propose a price hike in celebration!

OH-I Wanna get out of here

I'd love to see a new DE, but I'm thinking this is all a cruel April fools joke. To much stuff is over the top, even compaired with some of the new 'dexes. This reminds me of the first BA "codex" we had.

ummm the "first BA codex" was not as powerful as the codex that is comming.

The biggest thing we haven't heard about regarding dark eldar are the points cost for dark lances. That will really tell the story on if they'll be able to field top tir armies.

As a DE player for almost a decade, I actually am un-thrilled about the majority of the info on the OP.

The complete lack of power weapons just straight blows. Sure, rending is fine, but even if you hit on a roll of 3, you're only going to get one rend for every nine attacks on average.

Also, I will trade the existing wyche drug chart for the one proposed above every day of the week. I'll spend the entire time before a game praying I don't roll a 1. Seriously, let's look at those options:

1. I get S4, but get led around by the nose as soon as I'm out of a transport.
2. Wyches already have better I than almost any opponent they'll go up against, and most everyone gives them plasma grenades anyway. It's just as useless as Always Strike First is on the current list.
3. Joy...I'm S4 on the charge and I7. Like the original I6 isn't better than 90% of opponents, anyway. Only marginally better than roll 1.
4. Yay, FNP...on toughness 3 models. Probably the best option of the lot, but still not incredible.
5. Finally, something not terrible.

Hah...I've been hoping for an update for a while now, but this is not the direction I wanted to go. I guess being the only army with no need for a Large Blast marker was good enough; now we'll have the only army in the game with no power weapons.
