I think the "no power weapons" was an initial playtest option that is getting the boot. I'd be very suprised if things like incubi, succubus, and HQs don't have a power weapon option.

However, from something I've read a few places wyches will have rending and some other options to make them very assault oriented.

you forgot O'Shova! His weird sword thing makes him like a MC in CC. So in a sense that is a power weapon!

He's a special character.

As for large blast markers; we have 2, the submunition round from railheads and the airbursting fragmentation projector (which I take in nearly every list just because I like the sound of it).

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

There isn't any AP on that though. I think

As if on cue, you hear two people singing from the stairwell, and the door is opened and a pair of very smelly, very dirty guardsmen stumble in, completely drunk, and covered in vomit, and immediately collapse unconsious on the porch. You drag them to their beds, realising that they will not be waking up for some time.

Hah...I've been hoping for an update for a while now, but this is not the direction I wanted to go.

The only thing that would make the new drug chart is if you rolled *after* deployment... like Possessed!

What, you expected GW to do what you wanted, rather than make arbitrary, pointless changes for the sake of change? Really? GW?

I have an army of these guys in the back room somewhere, we'll see if they are worth my time, or just something to shoot at again.

Though I would like a few more of those bikes that I missed the first time around. evil little buggers if you can zerg another unit with them. The best elf bombs I've ever seen at taking down large crawling tyranids. especially those witch elf looking guys.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

No power weapons wouldn't make sense and would defeat the point of having high Initiative. Their troops may not have power weapon upgrades, sure, but leaders/characters? I seriously doubt it.

Nahh...

Maybe Dark Eldar get on ordinary PWs, but instead only get fancy stuff like Agonizers, Lightning Claws, etc.

As you've well pointed out, that's the way the current codex is arranged. Semantics, always semantics

Also interesting that since we've been seeing how GW likes to pull things from foreign websites before their more mainstream sites (so it seems), the Dark Eldar Codex is unavailable in Spain. That's where Daemonhunters/Witch Hunters were first unavailable as well.

As Craftworld Eldar technology is based on Wraithbone, all DE technology is based on pain as a power source. All major vehicles are powered by flayed slaves, and jetbikes, skyboards etc are said to be charged up before battle. All their ranged weapons have blades as a means of recharging them, even if it means cutting yourself.

Give me a fething break, I am still excited about DE but they are sounding retardedly emo at the moment... all the news about "spikier" worries me too - contrary to GW belief, there is such a thing as TOO spiky.

Bah, as long as the Raider models look good I'll be extremely tempted... (I already like the old raiders)

DE got me interested to see what happens, also why so much hate for rending, you must really suck at rolling if you have this much hate for it.

This is good.... isn't it?

Rending on traditionally low strength models makes sense, and is actually more powerful the higher their toughness scales.

S3 Model rending on 6's? = Equivalent of power weapon fighting toughness 5 or higher, except that instead of capping out what it can wound it stays static. Much like the current Agonizer.

S3 Model rending on 5's? Well, you're already for the most part optimized versus the rest of the game. You generate power weapon wounds versus GEQ's 16% of the time less, versus a STR3 PW (50%).

And anything past Rending on 4+ or better, is a astronomical boost in power versus a Normal power weapon. Equivalent to the current Agonizer? The key difference being, that unlike the Agonizer - you still cause wounds if your strength warrants it versus a lower toughness opponent, it's just that the more accurate your wound rolls are the more you get out of your weapon. I can see it.

It's just a convinient way to combine the poison mechanic and the power weapon mechanic. Poison also is a silly name for things such as a "Kinetically charged, neural gauntlet".

I can understand the change. If the rumors hold true, rending 6 (default) is fine for basic troops, 5 works for elites like incubi and whatever, and I'm sure 4+, 3+ and 2+ will work on the appropriate Special Characters or unique wargear.

Also, the proposed S2, Assault 3 rending splinter rifle (+1A in CC) also sounds like an all or nothing weapon, that doesn't have much anti tank capacity. Sounds like boosted poison mechanics to me...

Warriors are like the one in the rulebook ( http://www.pbase.com/brimstone/image/97930904.jpg ), but spikier (10 per box for the usual price)

This jumped out at me.

The current box has 18. So you get 8 less, but for the same price.

Yes but ...

10 orks is $22
10 guardsmen is $22
I'm sure nids have something similar
So why more for marines, eldar and so on?

Oh and 10 bloodletters or daemonettes are $22.

Yeah some of this sounds a little wishlisty. But then again, so did the Guard/Nid/BA/SW rumors 6 months before they came out. Some of the rumors proved accurate, and some did not. Time will tell which of these make the release.
Raider possibly as in the rulebook ( http://www.pbase.com/brimstone/image/97930903/large.jpg ) with sails.

Redundant since the raiders in that picture have sails. Good news though, since those raiders look pretty sweet. And hopefully 'spikier armor' just means jagged like the warriors in that picture.
I really hope they get rid of the slaanesh crap. DE worshiping Slaanesh is very Goto quality fluff. I pray it's just some ignorant wishlister's wetdream.

You can't spell 'slaughter' without 'laughter'.

Over at Warseer they discuss, if all the new rumours are a collaborative effort of several Warseer veterans at posting made up rumours, a rude April fool's joke in March. Let's see what will come out of this.

Only having Rending, no Power Weapons, could work. Look at the SW codex. GHs can either have 2 power weapon attacks (1 base, plus pistol) or d6+1 Rending attacks (Mark of the Wulfen), both for 15 points (iirc). If witches don't get power weapons, but each have 3-4 attacks (instead of 1 or 2), it does help balance it out. You have more attacks against low-save units (orks, guards), and end up with about the same number of unsaveable wounds as you would with a power weapon vs. MEQs.

In the dark future, there are skulls for everyone. But only the bad guys get spikes. And rivets for all, apparently welding was lost in the Dark Age of Technology. -from C.Borer

I am sorry to say that indeed several Warseer veterans found it funny to spread false, made up rumours in March calling it an April fool's joke.
I am a bit mad at this, as many veteran rumour posters including me got banned from Warseer for posting Tyranid rumours that Brimstone couldn't believe but turned out to be true.

Meriwether from Warseer wrote: APRIL FOOLS!

-----------------------------------------------

Guys,

*Of course* it's a joke. It was meant in silly, April Fool's fun, and between the fluff with our names in it and the translations and the barrage of rumors from people who never post rumors it should have been obvious that it was a joke.

So please, have a nice little chuckle at your own expense if you were fooled this April Fools, shake your head, and get busy. Those minis won't paint themselves!

----------------

Some info, so if you feel a great need to be really upset over a joke involving toy soldiers and those who play with them:

A. This was not a *mod* prank, it was a prank by some of the guilders. The Warseer staff by and large had nothing to do with it.

B. There are plenty of guilders who had no knowledge of the joke, so don't go assuming that every 'silver star' (person who has guilded up) was in on these diabolical shenanigans.

C. Harry -- who had nothing whatsoever to do with this thread and should not in any way be associated with any of this except as an innocent bystander -- had already confirmed that DE are coming "soon" (perhaps this fall, perhaps by January) before we had even dreamed up this joke. So there is a silver lining.

Looks like an April Fool's joke...spread out over three days. That targeted a player segment particularly desperate for some news. Lamest April Fool's I've seen in a while.

Those losers need to stick to their day jobs. People are kinda pi$$ed, and they still think it was funny.

@Kroothawk -- We shouldn't be surprised considering all the uneven modding and atmosphere there. You're either one of the boys or not.

They think it's hilarious. No one's laughing but them, and they think it's hilarious.

Which is hilarious in of itself in the way that it's funny to heckle a comedian who laughs at his own jokes and then tries to explain to the unamused audience why the joke is funny.
