C'mon now Clay - you know what they say about glass houses and all that!
Really guys - as you've read by now, these aren't the 'final' designs.
I'd bet there are more than a few more iterations left before we get there.

At least it's a start. The detail is nice. The overall form, however, needs work.
It's tough to go from what we all are familiar with in our minis to something that's supposed to be more "true to reality". With all the cool stuff power armor is supposed to do, it would be a hell of a lot more detailed than what our miniature models show! Same with the idea of having a 7 foot tall human killing machine fit into said armor and look proportional.

Wait for the final designs, if they are badly proprtioned then let loose with acid saliva.

There is some thing not quite right with all the Helmets , and from head on they look like a bunch of severely gravitationally challenged Fattys...and I'm Fat so that is saying some thing.
The side shots and the top and bottom shots they don't look fat though...

The concept art (the drawing, not the renders) looks fantastic. The proportions are not correct for a human, but they look great for a space marine. The shoulder-pads aren't huge, but still pretty substantial.
I am confident that they will go back and make the 3D's more similar to the concept art.
The it will be epic.

Good call GG.
In addition i would also add aren't these going to be using that motion capture technology. Presumably they have models based upon how real humans are put together/move ergo why the mock ups will look different from the models which are as we all know out of proportion to the fluff. Sorry I meant Heroic Scale!

Couldnt they have looked to Relic for some concept art though? Its not like they haven't been making good looking marines for a while.
My one thing I hope they catch by the time these are no longer "Color and Symbol" references are the fact that the torsos are not actually sitting on the lower body.
Makes them look kinda like Orks in powerarmor.

But it's bizzare they couldn't just take a basic GW render mesh (which GW has for their molds) and stretch it to match an Adi Smith pic.

They're not big boned, they're being boned if that is how they're going to look. They're too wide and their heads are too small unless those helmets are skin tight.

If their bones grow to make them bigger then why wouldn't the bone in their skulls grow too to keep their heads in proportion?

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money. |

They look really bad. I could probably do better models, given the time (from a design facet, not from a technical one, obviously. My 3D modelling skills are not as perfect as I'd like them to be quite yet). Not saying anything about the textures, other then that most videogames look better.

I rather like the models: Space Marines are supposed to be very broad and heavily boned. That said, if you're going to go with computer animation, why not match the miniatures for the tie-in?

I know it's only for colour and insignia, but you've still got to create a base to put those on, so why make a bad base, when it's so easy to make a proportional base. Oshova You do realize the proportions in literally 90% of space marine art are physically impossible and would imply that space marines are bizzare double shoulder jointed apemen whose knees are in their calves? Seriously.

They would be in proportion with tiny peanut-sized heads. Space Marines are as tall as Shaq or Yao, so their heads would be Shaq / Yao-sized. Which is tiny compared to their bodies.

Huh? That's not really how geometric expansion works. Automatically Appended Next Post: Nurglitch wrote:I rather like the models: Space Marines are supposed to be very broad and heavily boned. That said, if you're going to go with computer animation, why not match the miniatures for the tie-in?
Because the miniatures look utterly ridiculous and toylike when they aren't miniatures.
