That's right, the whole part of a Primarch that had wings makes no sense for the chapter to idolize their father. Not in any way, no sir.

On a side note I like the wings, and the model is so damn small I'm surprised how hard you are looking at the nipples. Considering the Death Masks look really awesome.

This is good.... isn't it?

The internets make them nipple obsessed, I think.

I'm debating the merits of swiping those wings for other models. I don't mind them at all.

I like the new Angel of Death model and fluff.

The Sanguinitor... is utterly stupid and ridiculous in both. The only thing that model should be used for is a statue, which it would do a good job as. Or as conversion bait.

And I'm not a fan of the whole 'adding musculature' to everything. The greek style or the 'I have been flayed' IC ones.

Well gak something different then the standard rounded power armor is kinda nice, whatever if its slightly muscled remember the space marines have so many muscles their armor has muscles.

They're Jump Packs with mechanical wings. Big deal.

I think they look fine.

I kinda like the wings. It's too bad you can only get 5 sanguinary guard in a unit though.

I think it really depends on what those wings are supposed to be made of and how they're painted. I mean, I don't think the sculptors were going for a depressing/ironic vibe (like the mechanical feathered wings in Brazil), but I can't help imagining it as even more really, really sad and depressing to come back to the monastery with dented, torn and half broken decorative wings.

Then again, I just ended up putting together some raptor squads with the old hang glider backpacks and Night Lords bat helmets, so that may disqualify me from making aesthetic judgments.

I'm going with the "quit your whinin'" crowd. The obsession with nipples is silly, it looks like the formed leather armor some of the roman generals wore. Incidentally, that is typically the kind of armor arch-angels are depicted wearing, nipples and all. Why, with the halo's, descending vengeful warriors, and grudge against chaos, you would almost think they have an angel motif going on!

Myself, I like the angel motif. Vanilla do the "future super warrior" quite nicely, SW have a nice norse thing going, and Blood Angels have an angel thing going on. I like that they aren't just a pallet swap with some rule changes. They offer a different experience and different asthetic.

Now it is ok to not like them, I'm not arguing that, but this whining is getting annoying. We could just as easily start threads on how silly the WWI tank army is, the army that is powered by BDSM, the army entirely based on a soccar riot, and the army that is four hobbits short of defeating Sauron. Everything in 40k has an extreme theme, and the BAs angel theme is no wierder than any of those I just mentioned.

It really just seems like you guys are forming a mental mob, constantly re-enforcing your own oppinions with eachother, and it is getting tiring.

I actually agree with you. My earlier post was more of a joke than anything else.

Y'know, if that fourth Batman film had never been made, this whole discussion of 'bat nipples' wouldn't exist. People would just accept the 'nipples' on the armour as something GW has taken from history and move on.

The Sanguinary Guard fail to impress me for the most part, although I think the base models without the wings have a lot of potential. The wings I would cannibalize for converting Sororitas Seraphim. Sanguinor is goofy, as stated, but I actually like Astaroth. I think that model has a lot of potential to be used as a Chaos character with only some arm repositioning (and maybe a gun of some sort).

The Death Company models are off the hook, much like Legion of the Damned. Mixing the two together would give you very blinged-out, badass looking squads (use the skullhead guys as sarges). I have no interest in the BA codex, but I love these kits. I'm waiting with baited breath for these GK rumors to come true, so I have a third blinged out kit to add to the mix!

I don't like parts of the models and thing the nipples look silly. Personal taste. If I used the models I'd file them off. Simple.

Don't mind the sculpted armour too much, except that it doesn't make a lot of sense for a SM with his grossly distorted torso, but his PA modelled on a normal body builder type?

Anyhoo back on topic to the question of wings. If they look cool to others fine. To me the idea is clunky. Why would you want these things to get in the way at combat. Are they really supposed to work and allow flight :O
Suspension of disbelief is being stretched way too far here. But then given the aircraft in 40k even bricks can fly so ...

Also why would they need to look angelic? Does the Imperium have any such belief system? My knowledge of the fluff is not extensive, but have never seen any mention of angels.

I know that this is a fantasy world and wot looks cool is fine, but personally like to see some consistencty with internal logic.

sorry for a long winded way of saying they look silly.
ps gold armour always looks camp. These dudes are not the brightest of ideas but will undoubtably fly off the shelves.
