Subject: Do you listen to music while painting or modelling?
I've taken up podcasts while I'm painting, usually 40k Radio or World's End Radio. If no podcasts, I listen to:
Fall Out Boy
Panic at the Disco
Cobra Starship
Jimmy Eat World
Mostly newer alt rock, completely different from you heavy metal people!
I listen to a mixture on my MP3 player:
Misfits
Motorhead
Nick Cave
Themes from various horror films
Dimmu borgir
Ancient
Jonathan Coulton
Iron Maiden
Judas Priest
Guns and Roses
GWAR
M: "You are the universe, alpha and omega, the beast with a thousand young, do what thou whilt shall be the whole of the law. NOW GO FORTH AND MUTILATE!!"
"Samus. That's the only name you'll hear. Samus. It means the end and the Death. Samus. I am Samus. Samus is all around you. Samus is the man beside you. Samus will gnaw upon your bones. Look out! Samus is here."

I don't listen to music while working, usually, since it's not convenient. In a little over a month I'll have moved into my new place, with my hobby space in the bedroom, making it easy to play CDs, stream web-radio, watch movies (we don't bother with cable), etc. as I work, which I will undoubtedly do.

While I don't listen to music while I paint, my modus operandi lately has been to play Robotech videos via Hulu in the background while I paint. Only problem is that after a couple hours, I get the Robotech music stuck in my head.
Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack

I go back and forth. Sometimes in silence and sometimes listening to http://www.musicofyourlife.com/ . A lot of the standards, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, big band type era stuff. A lot more relaxing since painting is a lot more focused slow task in the first place. All the metal listed along with the techno, trance, and eurobeat I like to listen to when I'm working out or doing something involving moving. But would just seem too fast for me for painting, I'll have to give it a try sometime though. I've tried to paint while having webcast seminars playing with mixed results. Thanks for the links to the internet radio sites. Only two I currently use are the Music of your Life's and Pandora.

Anything interesting without any lyrics, because I hold my paintbrushes in my mouth. sometimes shuffle, sometimes soundtracks from LotR, Avatar and The Matrix.
