Would have thought breaking up the table and the models was criminal damage.
Independent witnesses saw what happened. Surely there is a case to be answered.

Civil proceedings may also be an option but that may mean legal fees the store owner can't afford.

He sounds a jolly good egg btw

BloodDrop101X wrote:Alright stuff like this is happening to often. Yeterday my friend Gary and I went to a local comic book shop to play some 40k we both got a few games in but his last game apparently didnt go so well, the player he was playing was trying to put into play some custom rules he had for a few of his tau models and his hit points were way to high and some of the damage points were to little im not 100% sure on what all he did but my friend called him out on it a few times so he started to pack up his models and my friend wasnt trying to force him to stay but he wanted to finish the game I heard him say to the guy "dude dont be a wimp just quit trying to play your rules I dont agree with them stick to your codex please lets just finnish the game" exact words then this guy freaks the F out man.

First he started screaming something completly incoherent he drops his bag and picked up the table and flipped it with all of my friends models still on it and then he pushed over two more that both had people playing at them me being one of them but this was a completly unprovoked attack what the hell? Nobody else in the store had any problems we were all having fun. After this the guy picks up his gak and he bolted out the door a couple people tryed to chase him but he hopped into his car and drove off before anyone could get him but what is going on with players these days seriously? Me and my friend and three other people spent three hours that night searching the entire store for missing parts and minis. Thankfully my stuff didnt suffer to much damage but two of my brand new land speeders were completly smashed by the table and one of my rihnos is toast, but my friend gary lost alot of stuff and I mean alot hes also a space marine army player but hes chaos so he lost a lot of bits and other stuff.

The store owner was pissed he built all three of the gaming tables so our 40k seesions wont be going on for a bit this sucks and he actually replaced anyones main models like armor pieces and stuff like that that were broken which was really nice but expensive that came out of his pocket that store hasnt really made much profit yet its only been open two years going on three. why are there players like this out there this is supposed to be a really fun hobby that brings people together to have fun not to destroy peoples hard work

I'm not a lawyer, but even if half of this is true, you are a lawyer's wet dream.

Go take this story, your pictures, your broken minis and you can either go after the store, the guy, and get all of that crazy stuff along with small claims action.

If this story is correct, and you have proof, documentation, witnesses, and pictures, this could work out for you in the long run.

If you are a minor, you can get your parents involved for the added win.
Drop this steamy turd on your local PD and see how far you can take it. You can sit here and listen to the penut gallery, and get thier opion, or you can get the facts from the people that do this for a living.
My biggest issue with this story is that you all let this guy continue.

Why didn't you just let him pack up his crap and leave? Why did you even entertain this guy when he started going off the deep end in the first place?

In this day and age, don't let that sort of thing slide. First its turning over a few tables, next time, what about next time, when you all let it go, and this guy comes in with the "sorry, I won't do it again, routine" when this cat comes back with a gun or something.

What about the business owner? Is he going to replace your friends army? What sort of responsibility does he have for this sort of smacktard action going on in his business?
What is the store owner going to do to protect his customers, so this sort of thing doesn't happen again?

Go get some real advice from someone in your local town that deals with this sort of thing.
Go get a real lawyer's opinion, and see what people that deal with this sort of thing on a reguler basis have to say about this situation.

If this all happened a month ago you have no chance interesting the police and not a lot of chance in a civil action.

You got the one guy right (nor "morbidly" obese, just typical American), but the guy who initiated the fight was a very in shape, recently ex-military tall white dude with a bad temper. I have been playing for 4-6 months now, and i have never come across someone even close to this bad. The worst I get is the lookieloos that want to pitch in left and right on your turn, telling you or worse, your opponent "he plans on doing this" or "you need to do this to stop him" Stand back and let people play, if they got ma question with the rules and they ASK you answer, dont go just interrupting and saying what YOUR interpretation of the rules are. Thats what gets me heated, thats happened twice, where I had to get the shop owner to get the guy away from me. I have major anger issues, and am actually medicated for it, so when i started getting mad they jump quick to diffuse the situation. But i would NEVER wreck someone's minis, maybe beat the crap out of them, but not break their stuff

OMG i hate the standing over your shoulder quoting rules or telling you what you should have done guy.

I make an effort NOT to get involved in other peoples games, even if they are doing something wrong. I let them finish then bring it up.

One example is a guy was completely forgettting to use the ability of one of his units. I waited till the end of the game to mention something.

If someone tries to help someone or say what they should have done in the middle of the battle (that im involved in) I will ask them once nicely to refrain, the second time they do it ill tell them to mind their fething buisness and say something after the game. This is especially true for challenge or league games.

IF its a newer player thats different.

Get rid of in-store gaming.

Sounds like a really gak situation to have been in, for the most part gamers, whilst a little odd, tend to be decent enough people. I suppose there are donkey caves in all walks of life.

For me this whole incident falls under "if only I had done this or that at the time". Whilst a lot of peoples response (also mine initialy) would be "I would have beaten the crap out of them" I can understand that when these things happen there is a mixture of shock, fear and dunbfoundednes. Having someone flip out in to a total rage where they clearly have no thought for themselves, others or anything, whilst next to you is never a nice experience.

You could contact the Police and try to press charges, as others have said it's down to the officers attitude if it will go anywhere, you never know they might know this guy and be looking for an excuse to lock him up.

It sounds like the store keeper is a really decent guy offering to replace your broken miniatures. Given that these things happen very rarely i would just chalk it up to experience. If you do see the guy again and he is appologetic then ask him to pay for the damage, otherwise as satisfying as it may seem, I wouldn't advise hitting him, chances are it's you who will end up in front of a judge, unless of course you have several mates with you who "saw nothing"...

Definately sounds like someone's panties are in a bunch.

I have honestly played at only one tourney, I'm a casual gamer into the hobby for painting and modeling aspects. Overall the competition went well, I did not place but there were tons of great and experienced players who had traveled long distances to get there.

Excep for this guy.

I'll describe him for the rest of you. Picture a hobbit in normal people clothing, enough said. I was only a freshman in high school then, and I must have been a foot taller than him. And then I heard him talk......

At first, he was very helpful to me, telling me that, cool as a command squad is, its a waste of points. Also, that fielding a cyclone missle launcher instead of another assult cannon was a waste of termmies(this was back in 4th, mechanization wasn't that big of an issue). I gladly thanked him for his advice and moved on to my next table.....

Except this guy seemed to be following me around. "ok, no big deal" I thought. The game ends to a lunch break where we could review armies, and seemingly everything was angering this guy. One minute its the mixing of two differnt chaos demons, the next minute he's ranting about how dark angles just suck in general.

Everyone was staring at this beautifuly made chaos army, which included a selct few models armed with chain axes. This angered the little man, as he ranted about how cheesy they are (several players poked at this fire with mentioning ork choppas ). Pretty soon, he was talking(more like ranting) about them to me loooonnnggg after everyone had moved on. I simply said "Theyre deadly in an assult phase, but they do aboslutly no good 24 inches away from enemies. Run them over with a tank or something".

Though I had given him the benefit of the doubt, he had the audacity to "tiptoe" up to me, look me in the eyes, point as mean as he could and scream" YOUR A NOOB! YOUVE NEVER HAD TO DEAL WITH THEM" and stop off like a child. I'm pretty sure others saw this, he's lucky I didn't just scream back "OH YEAH? MOAR BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD YOU SONOFA !" and choke slam him through a table. I was a kid, I felt prevoked, he would have looked like an ass aftaerwards. Luckily he lived another day, he's probaly doing the same things to others by now.

I'm sorry your store had to meet a jerk. Given your scenario, I would have probaly chased him down and sacked him nice and good.

The difference between commitment and involvement is like eggs and ham; the ckicken was "involved", the pig was "comitted".

Its okay his ass actually got picked up by the police, he was speeding out of the parking lot and someone almost got hit but somebody passing by the store front saw what happened inside and called the police on him she got his plate number called it in as he sped away. He only got like 2 or three miles down the road but he was going so fast he got stopped by a cop. We found out yesterday I went to pick up some paints and the witness was another store owner she called the cops because she was outside on a smoke break and saw what happened. So he's got his coming to him and Steve the store owner filed a report he's being charged with reckless driving for almost hitting the person in the parking lot excessive speed unlawful destruction of property and something else that was just a minor charge in the end hearing that made up for it. He wont be in jail for to long but long enough to teach him something.
