Thanks everyone... the encouragement helps me get through the mind numbing hours of model/mold prep.

Kroothawk: I need to get the three other Leviathan variants completed, then 15mm versions, then I get to work on the Black Widow and Paladin models.

Ohh, no unresolved issues, back when Dream-Forge did their first Crusaders
I tried to order two of them before big-brother-GW cracked the IP whip.
Ended up getting a full refund and great customer support.

This time around I hope to get to order a couple is all.

Once again:

KNIGHTS AREN'T TITANS!

A Knight is it's own warmachine type, hence why a Paladin is a CLASS of Knight, just like a Wahound is a class of Titan. Different beasts with different ways of fighting and different targets.

Gets out 'Jabby Stick'.

That looks amazing, have an internet pat on the back. Would it have any potential uses within Warhammer 40,000 games at all? Either way, it looks great!

I hear you big man.... We made their attorney review the coming soon page on the old web site, to assure that they had no intention of taking issue with the rest of the line. These models were on that page.

I put a poll up, I do not know when or if it will be published in the Dakka poll forum.

I have the Iron-Core game system about 90%, but I keep having to limit the rules based on skirmish game mechanics. My original intent was to make the game a hybrid. RPG/Skirmish to allow for true freedom of action and resolution of actions.

The game is designed to be played with a limited number of units, to help soften the blow to the gamers pocket book as vehicles are inherently more expensive regardless of the manufacturer. The small unit size allows for more detailed game play without making the games unreasonably long.
With this in mind I would like to start a conversation, your opinions on this are valued, so please chime in.

Would you play a skirmish game that required a referee?

Benefits:
-Freedom of action through maneuver rolls. Difficulty of maneuver determined by referee
-Hidden movement. Referee tracks hidden units location.
-Atmosphere and game play freedom provided by referee. As with a RPG the referee can add details that are missing from most skirmish games… scenario changes on the fly, such as a scouting mission that goes wrong and now your forces face an ambush. Providing game flow and limitations to balance the fight and keep excitement high.
-Arbitrary point values for units can be mitigated and balanced by referee.
-Suicide runs as a valid tactic could be mitigated.
-Basically a meld of RPG and skirmish gaming styles.

Drawbacks:
-You need a third party involved in the game. It may be difficult to find an extra body that is willing to referee two or more players.
-Suicide runs as a valid tactic could be mitigated.
-Arbitrary point values for units can be mitigated and balanced by referee.

All the best,
Mark-

Probably not as an ongoing thing.

Makes it harder to actually get in a game, as you not only need to line up an opponent, but need to find someone to referee it... preferably someone who is actually good at it... and who you can trust to be impartial.

For home gaming groups of more than 2 people, that would be fine. It makes it an uphill battle for a pick-up game, though.

Needing a GM for a wargame is essentially a non starter for me (and I think most others), part of the gaming appeal of wargames over RPGs or the like is being playable with only two folks.

I could see the first games played this way but after more people in your area have the figures and rule book have it set up for individual play with event charts and things like that.

Yeah, tying to get 3 or more together for a game with one as a ref is going to be a PITA. Some have a hard enough time getting 2.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
You may want to include referee option in the game as and advanced option or somehing.

A referee is more appropriate for really big games IMHO.
Actually I already have a good rule set for standard games, but I love to see the vehicles/flyers that you are planning (as seen in the small pics).
