How about the 'Megalodon' SXV-141 Super-heavy Assault Walker or the 'Horseshoe' SXV-141 Super-heavy Assault Walker.

I thought 'Megalodon' because it was the biggest and most Bad Ass shark in prehistoric times and I thought 'Horseshoe' would be fitting because they are heavily armoured similar to the SAW. Also, Horseshoe doesn't sound as weird as callin it King Crab or Spider Crab...

well that's my two cents

Why not just the SXV-141 Crab? Is crab not awesome sounding enough?

I know the pictures are pretty low grade, but its what I have at the moment until I get some really nice ones done.

Keep in mind, the rules are just one persons ideas, you guys should do what you think is fair with them, I am sure I will look into some better ones when I have a chance.

I thought Megaladon too.. but it seems.. long?

Sounds dinosaurish or wooly mammoth-y on it's own, what about the white shark family name? Carcharias sp?

I still think mermidon would be a pretty cool name...

I liked the idea of calling it the Behemoth most of those suggested, but then I checked on the origins of the word and it was a land based animal, its watery counterpart being the Leviathan. So I would suggest Leviathan would be a better name for it!

I also started to think it was too long after I posted it.

How about 'Narwhal'. For some reason the turret on the top made the name spring to mind...

Well, look up all the types of crab. Pick the most badass one. The King Crab? Spider Crab? Ghost Crab?

Of course, if you're going for a latinate name, "Cancer" would work. But that's not really a good brand identity for the English-speaking world...

Perhaps something based upon an octopus. The Japanese name for octopus is Tako. Might that work?

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

Ugh, whatever you do please don't call it the "Megalodon"...every single fan-made Tau superheavy gets named that, and I'm sick of it at this point.

I really liked "Myrmidon", why not call it that? Okay so it doesn't quite fit with the "big fish" naming scheme, but I don't see why everything HAS to. "Broadside" and "Crisis" battlesuits don't have fish names, "Valkyrie" isn't a mythological animal name like "Chimera" or "Manticore", either...it's okay to be different!

Call it Krakinos or the Fiddler (Crab).

In the context of the product and the game it is supposed to sneak itself into the other names are not unique and reek of hivefleet and lack of thought. Certainly they are not 'Tau' like names.

Also, contextually, 'Tau' as a GW brand is fairly solid (being a specific race within the world of 40K).

besides all this can the legs be repositioned? The pose as is looks very static making it look like a fixed defence platform.

Yes, genius! It must be done!

I am sure the legs could be sawn up and repositioned, however it would be nice to cast them in several pieces and enable users to avoid the necessity.

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Yeah I'm going to vote against that. First because tako is a vile abomination on a mission to ruin my dinner, and second because of you're going to use a Japanese name you may as well just put it in a sailor skirt and call it the SUGOI OTAKU MECHA SUUPAA!

Valkyrie isn't an animal no, but it is mythological. Same goes for the Medusa and Colossus. But then there's always the Leman Russ and Sentinel which are neither animals nor mythological.

About the Super Heavy; weren't the Tau opposed to Walkers and non-Skimmers in the fluff, as they weren't sophisticated enough?
As for the name, I wouldn't go for a 'Nid Hive Fleet name as well. How about Nautilus (a squid with external shell)?
