I thought that TAU stuff was supposed to be named after Sea creatures?

Let loose the wrathful furies of the terrible Sea Otter or the mighty Manitee.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

Still think the Name Tempest would be a better fit into the current Tau naming scheme....grumble..pout.

Seriously, Best of luck with the new models guys. Keep'em coming

BTW, I have an idea for a model and wanted to know if you guys only do your own designs or if you accept ideas from your prospective customers?

Great to see you've migrated over to dakka dakka from advanced tau tactica!
(I recently switched myself)

I have to say, I joined Advanced Tau Tactica to see Tael's work, and stayed almost only to watch the progress of the superheavy development.

Personally I think you have to stick with the 'marine organism' niche with the names, nautilus sounds great, although I'd suggest watching Walking With Monsters (BBC program from a while back) for some cool names.

ps. where are you located in Australia?

What about "Weaver", after a fish that sits in the sand, with two sharp, poisonous barbs. Painful buggers.

The Weaver SXV-141

Also: Cichlid, Gourami, Goliath.

Actually, the Gourami SXV-141 resonates.

Although ,i think is fact, this may be all wrong. The marine naming scheme is for skimmer/flyers/transports. All the mecha/walkers have regular, descriptive names, like crisis, broadside, stealth, no?

What about
XV22 - Stealth
XV8- Crisis
XV88 - Broadside
SXV-141 Roadblock/Anvil

How do I say this?

I love the model, BUT

I dont think it fits the Tau well. They have grav tech, and jumpjets. This is a walker. Its seems retro tech-wise.

And it reminds me too much of an anime I saw years ago...bubblegum Crisis...the Genki Battlemover.

lol... and Gir's response to that is soooo good but this now off topic entirely as the name Gir was not chosen. neither was mobile oppression palace. both would have suited it though... hmm i may get one, call it Gir, and write in another special rule on account of that lol

Hey Captain. I wouldn't exactly say I've switched to Dakka - I only registered to post responses in this thread. There's still the occasional cool stuff on ATT, but I have my own forum with some cool modellers that I have the most to do with these days. I'm on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland (funnily enough not all that far from Sebastian Stuart (Tael) from ATT.

I do very much like the name Tempest. I think it's powerful yet noble sounding name. I vote that we go with that...

I like tempest, though nautilus is great, kind of hides how devastating it would be. I can just imagine it being dropped down from orbit into a dense hive city, slowed at the last second by gravity-dampeners, and seeing it unfurl as the dust settles to open up with a volley of hypersonic shots.

@warboss: learnsome respect before you post flatout criticism like that. I suggest you head over to the development thread on advanced tau tactics and see how much work went into this.

I have two problems with the Man o war name.

1)A Man o war is a Jellyfish and the Tau have enough problems with beieng called spineless.

2)The model in no way looks like a Jellyfish

Now if you are going with the British sailing ship theme it still doesn't look the part nor does it have enough guns for that distinguished name.

I'll let it go now.
