Im forever catching myself just as Im about to wash my brush in my cup of tea. Ive not yet accidentally picked up the paint water to drink yet, but I use a glass for paint water & a mug for tea, so y'know.

I have tasted paint many times though, I often use my mouth to smooth down the brush.

I saw a guy in a the FLGS that was using Testors paint that needs thinner to clean the brushes licking his brushes with paint still on it. He is a bit odd ever since I have met him.

I've had those moments where the paint water cup just touches my lips till I realise I'm looking down into paint water.

But now I have a large white pot thing for my water and is very different to my pint glasses I drink from.

Paint cups are annoying, but nowhere near as much as when your wife steals your ashtray, so you use another cup for your cigarette butts...then take a drink. Ew.

Never, though I've been very close, like so close that the murky water was milimetres away from my lips. Luckily I remembered that my milkshake had a straw.

I haven't done this yet, but i've had to stop myself from reaching for it when i have another drink on the table. I've been using paper cups as paint cups to lessen this impulse as I don't typically drink out of paper cups. My current cups are pink with princess crowns on them, and I have matching napkins to wipe my brushes. I reuse the cups over and over until they get crunched or too soggy. they came from the dollar store.

Never on purpose. Has happed when drinking out of similar cups (usually involving coke and working with black/brown paint).

They were.

The 'non-toxic' label does not appear on the Foundation paints, which (at least some of them) supposedly contain lead.

But the amount of anything nasty that you're likely to be getting from your paint water is negligible.

Did it with a massive cup of milk. In my rage, I forgot to close the cap on a jar of tentecle pink, and proceeded to spill pink all over my paint station. While I was cleaning it up, I got a splinter.

I know a guy that had three cups (Paint, Soda and Chew) on his desk and drank from two of the wrong ones. He was painting and took a swig of chew spit. He spit it out and grabbed the paint cup thinking it was his soda. Well, he was sick for the rest of the night.

Never have done this, but when I used to dip smokeless tobacco, many times I had spit into my drink cup and drank from my spit cup. Uggggh!

Luckily I've only drunk it once, after that time I started keeping my beer/water cup away from my washing mug.

Although I've tasted paint from my brush many, many times, probably should stop smoothing it with my mouth but oh well.

Nope. I learned that lesson when I Started mixing it up, grabbing the cup, realizing my mistake and grabbing the right cup. Then made the same mistake in another five minutes. My current paint water receptacle is a tin can with ribbing, which helps clear pain and fells distinctly not mountain dew bottley (I can't control my hand anyway, so massive caffeine is not going to affect my paint jobs).

I always leave the water in the same place, so I know I won't be dipping my brush into a cup on the other side of me. Doesn't hurt to have a large jar filled with slightly murky water (label removed for visibility, which reminds me to change out the water more frequently), which is rather hard to confuse with a mug/can/bottle. I'd like to think that I'd never do such a thing, but the fact that I haven't is due in far greater part to the fact that I don't paint nearly as much as I should.

Everywhere I'm not supposed to be.

If I'm not drinking, I can't be bothered painting...

And while I'm drinking/painting, I'm almost always dipping.

I now have two clear plastic cups that say "paint cups" on them, a capped bottle that I keep on the opposite side of the desk to spit in, and my beverage stays in a different room. Now I CAN'T drink the wrong liquid substance...

If you need me, I'll be busy wiping the layers of dust off my dice.

These days I nick my partner's 3-stage artists water pot thing, so I'd have to reeeeally not be thinking to take a swig of it. I also started using a flip-top sports bottle for my drink, just in case I knock it over while modelling, etc.

That said, one time I had a bottle of Cherry Coke, and bottle of Nail Polish remover... I managed to sleepily take a swig of the latter, thankfully didn't swallow.
