How has the summer effected your wargaming experience?

When it's summer I play less because I have river less than a kilometre from my home.

About the same due to increase for being out of school and having more time to work on it but then decrease due to airsoft and other activities in the nice weather

I would put "same as usual", but I'm gearing up for a wedding in the fall and my job just transferred me to a new store that's further away from my FLGS. So slightly less than normal.

I am in a total lull as far as gaming goes. I thought it would increase with my nephews being out of school but no. The last game I had was for Easter. My workday hours changed so that killed my week day gaming at my LGS. I do have more time for painting models but this doesn't satisfy my gaming need.

No change, still go on tuesdays wehen I can!

I'm in Calgary again, so I actually have more to play against than one of my friends. Consequently, my spending has increased quite a bit too.

camping, going to camp, hanging out outside, activities, so many things to do! It makes a boyscout dizzy!

I am on track to paint more models this year than I ever have in a single calendar year since I started painting models about 20 years ago. I recenlty painted 72 Chaos Warriors and 10 Chaos Hounds in about 2 weeks, a new batch painting record for me. The Warriors are visible in my Gallery here on Dakka.

So far this year, I've painted Space Marines, Chaos Marines, Imperial Guard, Chaos Warriors, Eldar, and scenery pieces like the flag raising diorama shown in my Gallery. I've also painted some models I did not include in my overall count for the year, like 5 Drop Pods for a Dark Angels vs. Tyranids display table for this year's US Games Day in August plus a couple scenery pieces for my local GW shop. I will soon break the 300 model mark for the year and it's only July. If I keep going at this pace I may get 400 or 500 plus models painted this year.

I've also played more one-on-one games of Warhammer this year than I have in the past few years and I'm looking forward to more now that I'm back into it. I'm actually getting more painting and gaming in since summer started than earlier in the year.

Increase, actually. Never paid too much attention to my army during autumn -> spring. Got so much free time now I need something to do while I'm not with friends, by the computer or out training. European and world cup ultimate frisbee in Heilbronn, Germany in 2 weeks!

Normally I would play more to stay out of the sun and heat. This year we've had an unusually moderate summer though so I've been out enjoying it.

As far as gaming is concerned it goes way up because I go home to the friendly store where wargaming is a lot funner. Here its a bit more competitive so it isnt as much fun for me. Painting it stays about the same, spare time = paint time!

More for me, as the boys are home for six odd weeks and we play more games when they are holiday.

Sun, softball, surfing, kiteboarding, motorcycles all kill my summer

Definite decline for me lately due to most of my friends being away on vacations, having babies, getting married, etc. And I thought my friends were real gamers....pfffft!

Make sure you go to see the museum / exhibition ( its at the very top of the stairs as you go up to the gaming hall ) ... its jaw dropping .... the old one was a bit - MEH - but after the remoulding of the space it just has a real WOW factor when you first go up and see it !!!!!

I get out a lot more when I don't have to worry about driving in snow and ice, so yes, my wargaming increases in the summer. I would like to do more painting, but every time I get something assembled, I can't shoot primer on it because it's raining. Oh well, it's the bare plastic legions for me.

My painting has nearly come to a halt, and my gaming is slightly up. I tend to enjoy more outdoor activities to replace painting and computer-type games during the summer...but having more people to play against thanks to some being teachers helps me get games together.

I have been able to pick up on gaming but my painting is next to non existent. Really wish I could put more time into finishing my dwarfs and IG.

I live in Canada, and from august 4thish to 9th it was so muggy from forest fire that you had to stay indoors! I love Canada but this is bs. I am 19, have always liked warhammer but had only small community of players because i live in a tiny town. Suddenly when my girlfriend who likes to read went through the ork codexs and became very interested in and has started an ork army and two other friends are with her. I also was in my first tournament Happy times in my warhammer40k week.

I went into a painting coma this summer lol...

I work year-round, so...no change.

i have motorbikes and guns and dogs so in the summer i do bugger all painting wise but still play atleast once a week

My summer:

Decided to not take summer classes for the first time in 2 years and the summer was awesome....i never so much painting don in all my life! I live in texas so the goal in the summer is to not go outside.....it literally feels like your sticking your face in an oven sylvia plath style! I stayed in my offic at home and painted in the cool comfort of the indoors with something nice a cool to drink!

I dont usually do it during summer because where I travel i dont play. So I play more during the other seassons

Wargaming is a weekend activity so it stays at about the same. Winter is when it will go down if anything, due to the weather being much nicer out. Of course we don't get to have the snow the folks up north do, but I'll take 50 over 100 anyday!
