“Brothers, what we do on the battlefield is not just for our chapter but, for the entire Imperium. Every Xenos that falls by our hands will be a testament to our unwavering duty to the Emperor. Every heretic that is crushed under our feet will be a testament to our undying loyalty to the citizens of Imperial Space. We will baptize ourselves in fire and emerge as the most steadfast defenders of humanity.” - qoute from my own homegrown chapter

Yeah, super-sculpey. It's pretty good, it kept detail really well through the baking.

The Tyrant's coming along. He's still really rough but I have the basic shape of what I want, now it's just finishing the arms, adding details and smoothing out before he's ready to paint. Should be something I can finish up tonight.

Sculpting on the Tyrant is done. It would have been done sooner, but I had to spend all day yesterday staring at stormclouds while waiting for a jump. Now begins the simple task of painting him, basing the two, and celebrating the completion of one of my favorite hobby projects. Comments are appreciated.

I'm in the Army, but I live off-post. I own a house outside town. There's a huge Warhammer community in the military. I'm constantly running into guys I've worked with on here.

I saw this in the gallery first and am very impressed.

But I think the tyrant needs more something, a crown, a shoulderpad, some skulls, something. He doesn't quite look imposing enough.

That surprise costume kinda diminishes the point of assassins in game... To hide away in your squads and not be seen by the other player >> But. IF you say so....

If Snitch is anything like Shadowblade, he can infiltrate the opponent's army.

That all you could come up with? Any rat on the field will drawn attention. But hide away in an Ogre, and they'll never know.

Absolutely insane. Don't listen to the lore dribble, this is an inspired idea, and executed brilliantly! I think part of the appeal of this miniature is the fact that it captures the warhammer universe, with its mish-mash of fantasy, gothic elements, and humour.

Love to see what you do with the base (I can see candelabra and lighting effects!).

I'm definately thinking about lighting effects, but the coat-of-arms that I painted on the ogre's bib does better in neutral lighting, so I might just stick with that (not that I'm done, by any means).
Actually I'm kinda surprised that it took this long for a rules-lawyer to come along and point out that Skaven can't hide in Ogre units, or something like that. The point of this piece is simply to follow a "wouldn't it be funny if..." conversation to it's conclusion. It's just there to be funny. Sure, I'll probably use it in a game as a unit-filler, and I'll enter it into Golden Demon Duel category, but mainly just to have fun, not to be competative.
On that note, I learned the hard way last year that entering Golden Demon with any expectations is only a recipe for frustration. I entered 9 different categories, and took away 1st-Cut on 7 of them. After looking at my models on the top shelf for hours and watching them be photographed by the Golden Demon photographer, at the end of the day I came away empty-handed (unless you count a fist-full of "Finalist" pins as not empty-handed.) All my entries this year are just there for fun, much like this one, and I'm just hoping to inspire some chuckles out of anyone who sees them. I've got my two Silver Demons on the shelf, and although I'd love to have a Gold one up there, I'm more interested in stupid ideas like this one that make me smile and the folks at my local game store want to try similar things. It keeps the game fun.
Well now that I've written what would qualify as a graduate-school thesis on losing at Golden Demon, here are some pics of the Ogre's progress (I haven't really been working too hard on him this week, as I've gotten distracted by painting Lizardmen and falling out of an airplane.)

First off, that skaven assassin is something else. I almost choked on my coffee when I saw that.

The ogre is cool too. Not that familiar with Fantasy, so I'm not sure what's up with the extra mouth on his tummy, but he still looks nice and ogrish. Good stuff.

any chance those previous entries are in your gallery? If you could point them out or post them up that would be great!

Surprised you haven't come away with anything more in the golden demon, if that's any recompense.

Could you maybe mock up the positioning with the painted models so far?

Great work as usual!

There are a few of my entries in the gallery. I won Silvers at Atlanta in 2004 for WHFB Regiment and LOTR Single, if you wanted to look those up. I entered the Orion that's my Avatar, as well as a Leman Russ (the Primarch), the Emperor and his bodyguard (with Sanguinius and Rogal Dorn), a Galrauch, Celeborn from LOTR... there was some other stuff but I'm not remembering it right now.
I really appreciate how much love this thing's getting. Once I finish my other two dioramas I'll put them up. They're both amusing, but not quite to this extent.
Oh, and the mouth on his tummy is his gut-plate. Ogres have a thing for mouths, apparently.
The title is going to be "The Demise of Bolgut, the Fat (Formerly Known as Bolgut, the Rat-Slayer)"
