Eledamris: Any tips on painting banners to such quality? Do you start freehand in full colour or start with pen base or what? I've got some space marine chapter banners I need to paint up, and the khorne banner looks pretty sweet to me. (Not that my 'holier than thou' space marines would don the banners of the false gods)

It's not a false god, it's Godzilla! I honestly think I got lucky with those two, but I'm glad I did. The most impressive thing there that year, imho, was the one that won Gold for WHFB monster.
For freehand banners, it's all just a matter of layering. Do your basic design in the darkest color and then work your way up, adding details as you go.

So I finished the Ogre and the floor of the base. Now all I have to do is add the details to the base and put the title on the name-plate, and we'll be all done. This has been my favorite project of all time.

I'm adding some rats, a gnoblar freaking out, a skaven skeleton and an ogre club that's just out of reach. Any other ideas?

Haha the gnoblar idea sounds great. I can just imagine the high-metabolism critters being much more aware of the assassin than the ogre himself.

I think the rats and or gnoblars should be behind or to the side of the throne, sort of hiding away.

Well, after a long, hard run of painting, the diorama is done. I can safely say that I'm pleased with it, and regardless of whether or not it wins anything at Games Day, it is a success because it almost made my wife pee her pants. GREAT SUCCESS (in my best Borat voice)!

I mentioned this in the gallery, I worry that the ogre looks too passive, especially compared to the very dynamic skaven. If he was wrestling his bulk half out of his chair it would be much more powerful. Maybe the gnoblar etc will help add action.

Great GS work on the gutplate! I laughed my butt off when I realized what the assassin was up to.

The Ogre is startled, and slow. There's no good place to put the gnoblar. Unfortunately it's done, so modifying it now is kind of pointless.
As for the lettering, it's just paint and highlights. I printed what I wanted it to say in MS Word for reference on font size.

I wouldn't worry about modifying it at the moment, looks great as is, and I've ruined many a model by going back to add that 'last touch'.
