Is crushing your opponent so badly that they want to quit the hobby worth bragging about?

I mean, I've crushed some heads in my time, but they're not really the games worth recalling. Sometimes you just end up on that side of a matchup (often against necrons), and it's part of the game. But the games I recall better are the ones where it was the closest of victories, decided on the last half of turn 7.

I don't think anyone really is bragging in this thread. Just a bunch of random fun moments where you beat your opponent by round 2.

@post above.

The guy playing white scars would have needed to declare outflankers. Which he didn't.

That photo is so magnificently timed and framed; the guy grinning up at the camera like a little kid who just figured out how to get to the locked TV channels, the judge flipping through the codex with concern, and the White Scars player with a defeated slump already forming in his shoulders.

My worst beating was actually a couple weeks ago, on our first night of 8th ed WHFB, 1500 points of my lizards vs. his DE. My slann with Lore of fire lit up the 10-man repeater crossbow unit his sorceress was hiding in, killing them both with multiple fire spells while my stegadon's poisoned bow puts 2 wounds on the hydra. Second turn, his big block of blackguard was locked in place with fulminating flame cage, and the hydra goes down to a very long steg charge. I then proceed to sit there, nuke his army to hell and back while his blackguard don't get to move the rest of the game. I lost a few templeguard to a miscast, and the steg took a wound or two fighting the hydra. Other than that, I was untouched when I tabled him on turn 6. He was raging about the new magic, *hard*.

To be fair, the Tau player was gentleman enough to ask the Russian, whether he was *sure* he wanted to place everything in Reserves like that...

I've won more games than I've lost lately, some pretty decisively. Actually there are a few batreps on this very site that would bear this up. I realize that some people are just talking about this in fun, but it sure seems that there's at least one egomaniac in the bunch. Ah well...

I think tales from tournament top tables of massacres are pretty neat. I'm less interested in how badly some noob got stomped.

I won a tournament in which all three opponents had three models combined by the end. I'm not sure I'm a bad guy to think that was pretty neat.

Well this was one of my first major games of Warhammer Fantasy. I was playing at the 2250 point tier against my fellow players. I was playing as the Lizardmen and he was the good olde Empire. Now my firend has a better income and such so was able get a nice developed emipre gunline. Now this was pre-8th so I could abuse the Stegos.

I was running for most of my command team Skink priests on Engines with and a chieftan with warspear. It pretty much came down to an updated Southlands Skink list.

My adversary had the first move and he started to make his way up the board. I retailated by moving my troops towards his team knowing as a gunline player (I used to play Hordes and Warmachine so I had that feeling he was going to move and shoot the whole game). After knowing that I succesfully cast "Comet of Cassendora" on the first turn.

On second turn I was starting to lose the ranged fight with my skinks but somehow managed to roll correctly and got another comet token.

On third turn i sliped up and had all the tokens detonate on top of the blocks thus wiping out all of the units. If there was a unit left surviving the engines would come stoping in with "Sprinkler of death"

Never see a Beast lvl 2 mage with Dragons bow try to solo a Stegodon. And well thats why he got smushed.

So I was losing most of the ranged fighting, my comets decimated and tabled the ranged blocks.

Terminator with Assault Cannon

I once played a friendly game where my Cobalt Consuls (Iron Hands successors) confronted some Iron Warriors. For fun I brought along an Inquisitor Lord and a Vindicare Assassin. On the left flank, my Assassin's first shot killed not only an Iron Warriors Rhino, but four of the hapless Chaos Marines who had been riding inside. On the right flank, one of my Rhinos was attacked by a Terminator Lord, four Obliterators, and another squad of Chaos Marines. The Rhino weathered shot after shot, but somehow never suffered serious damage. Finally, the Chaos Lord was about to reach the Rhino and finish it in assault-- however he rolled poorly on his difficult terrain test, and on the next turn the squad inside fried him with a melta blast. In the end I only lost one Marine and one Inquisitorial henchman, but managed to kill every Chaos Marine on the field.

Was playing against a friend of mine a while back during the old CSM codex. His marines managed to wipe out my army down to a single Berserker Aspiring Champion. This powerfist wielding maniac proceeds to turn his entire army into a fine red mist. All involved parties agree that this AspChamp was most likely Chuck Norris in disguise.

Warmachine and not my game, but I was privileged enough to be at DieCon 2008 for the Hardcore tournament. Final round goes to a mirror match between eVlad and eVlad. Player I deploys on the line, as does Player II. Player I deploys his Widowmakers forward. Player II deploys his AD unit right in front of his caster. Player I notes that said AD unit is a pair of Manhunters, both of whom have Stealth. Player I proceeds to pop feat and unload 8 fully boosted Widowmaker shots into eVlad.

End result? 1 dead caster, and 1 trophy for Fastest Caster Kill at 1 minute and 31 seconds.

I've definitely recieved bigger beatings than I've given. I think my favorite moment of me wailing on an opponent was me with 1000 points of guard along with a guy who had some tau against a guy who had a lot of eldar.

In his turn (turn 1), he charges his footslogging elder out into the open:

And then in my turn, I open up with something like 8 heavy bolters in addition to other assorted long range fire:

The remaining 5 turns did not go well for my opponent, but mostly I was pleased as this was one of the very few times that my heavy bolters ever got to do anything, and when they did...

Shivan covered it pretty well:

European Team Championships - 40k

Russian White Scars player has the option to deploy first against Tau, and declares he places everything in Reserves, thinking to screw the Tau out of their first shooting phase(s).

Tau player is surprised at this, and asks White Scars player to confirm that he isn't deploying anything, that everything is in Reserves.

White Scars player confirms that to be the case.

Tau player deploys, and declares he will Infiltrate all of his Kroot. As there are no enemy models within 18" (or any distance, for that matter), he is free to conga-line the entire White Scars deployment edge.

The White Scars player, lacking any Tanks (to Shock with), and not Outflanking, now has no way to move onto the board, suffering an automatic game loss.

The Tau player's teammate memorializes the "Fool's Mate" of 40k for all posterity, putting to rest the theoryhammering into reality.

My most brutal beating wasn't necessarily a win, but I ended up wiping out over 40 fire warriors in a 1000 point game with my Grey Knights, only suffering 3 casualties on my end. The game ended in a draw because by the final turn, he only had 2 men left on an objective.

However, my largest victory was today, when I played orkz vs SMurfs in a 2000 point game. I had Ghaz and a Warboss with a unit of nobz in a trukk and a unit of nob bikerz, along with a unit of burnas and a unit of lootas. My opponent had a terminator heavy list led by a librarian and a Captain. Started fairly evenly matched, we ended up going kill to kill pretty much, although I was slightly in the lead, having killed his first terminator unit and captain. Halfway through, I tried to assault his Librarian and terminator unit, but Ghaz's S&P caused me to fail the charge. I resigned myself to a loss as my nobz got shot up and blown up via terminator guns and psychic rapage. However, when he charged into combat, Ghaz and the boys quickly cleaned house just as they should. Ghaz died after weathering a massive terminator assault for 2 turns, but that unit alone managed to completely clean out my opponent's primary force. The match was won by forfeit on turn 4.

However, up until the end of turn 3, it was neck and neck. It was only a slaughter come turn 4. I was very surprised with the match, since I expected to lose abysmally after I failed the charge.

My 1850 Necron army Tabled a SM player, razorback heavy, due in part to Gauss throwing down the "F-U!!!!" glove to 5th Ed and my warriors/Immortals/ Monoliths proceeding to just glance to death everything in the enemy army. Sealed the deal with my destroyers escorting units off the table as they proceeded to open more metal coffins.

Lost only 1 tomb spyder and 4 warriors thanks to great WBB rolls.

This year's Hard Boys I was paired against Tau in the third round. He was running a gunline/farsight bomb vs my air cav/gunline IG. I got first turn. He deployed in a gunline. I scouted vendettas/melta vets with demolitions and destroyed half of his army before he was able to do anything. He ranted and raved, pacing back and forth behind the table, throwing his miniatures in a huge heap. I tabled him in the third turn, having lost a Leeman Russ and a hand full of melta vets.

Not my game but the wife’s, Warhammer Fantasy game 3000 point a side Dwarf v Bretonnian.

It was like watching the charge of the light brigade
Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon in front of them
Volley'd and thunder'd;
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
Boldly they rode and well,
Into the jaws of Death,
Into the mouth of Hell

Well they faired a lot worse than the famous 600, after only 3 rounds it was all over, no missing or misfires, 10’s for the Volley Guns and some amazing dice rolls for the thunder’s, not one Brit made it across the table. By go 4 the remained had been seen off by Gyrocopter’s.

Losses to the dwarf 100 point.

I don’t play her Drawf’s that often she’s just nasty with them.

I once was playing Tau Vs Orks in a tournament.
The ork player was very new to the hobby and I tabled him without a single loss on my side.

I had to give him a long list of reasons why he lost afterward but in the next game he played another friend of mine did the same (he did lose someone but that was due to Daemon Possession)

Well, he didn't quit the game, but I played a friend and beat him so badly (my IG, his Iron Warriors-the old 4 heavy support ones) that he packed his army up, turned around and asked if anyone in the store wanted to buy it for $100.............. And someone did.

played a Tau vs Tav game in the regional 'ard boyz last year. I had 12 Crisis suits loaded up with missile pods, and 9 broadsides and a smattering of pathfinders and kroot and FCW. He was running full mech.

Due to night fight being in effect, he wasn't able to do much his first turn although he did move closer in order to fish of fury me the next turn.... Instead, I poped three railheads, 4 devilfish, a few crisis suits, and most of his army ran... to be escorted off the table by kroot. Net loses, 1 FCW, 2 Pathfinders, and 3 kroot.
