Annoyed Blood Angel Devastator

My third or fourth time playing 40k I had my BA army and went up against my buddy with his Tau Army.
Roll-off: I win, and choose to go first. I deploy my scouts to the side of his army about 30 or so inches away.
Turn 1. I use over-charged engines on my Rhino to block his LOS of most of my army. I put my JP troops right behind my Rhino and move my army out of sight except for a few men from a Tactical Squad. I shoot his Fire Warriors with my Snipers and kill 2.
Turn 1 (for him) He rushes his Kroot up to my Rhino and moves his Battlesuits to the right of my Rhino, getting LOS on nearly all my army. He shoots at my Tactical Squad and kills 3. His Fire Warriors attempt to shoot my snipers but are out of range.
Turn 2. I JP over the Rhino with my Assault Squad and land right behind the Kroot. My tactical squad moves toward the battlesuits. My snipers kills 3 Fire Warriors and force them to be pinned. I assault hit Kroot and then do Sweeping Advance into his Fire Warriors right behind. My Tactical Squad bogs down the Battlesuits, killing one and wounding another but at the cost of another 3 marines.
Turn 2 (his). He moves his last full FW squad with the Ethereal to the corner of the table. With most of his units in combat, he has nothing to shoot. My assault units kills his FW squad. My Tactical squad kills his battlesuits. With his whole army routed he accepted defeat.

@p4h: first off, the WS player isn't Outflanking.
Second, those Kroot aren't on their baseline - they're on the WS baseline...

I'm not one for brutal walkovers.
They aren't fun for me (I like a challenge. If it's a give-away it isn't worth as much to me) and I doubt they're fun for my opponent.
Other players are different. I've had players relish the turn 2 beatch-slapping they've dealt me and be quite happy with themselves. I've only been happy because it freed me up to grab a beer and check out the dealer tables before next round (they lacked certain 'people' skills and we not pleasant to play anyway).

I have another story!
Yesterday was the BMF Championship (Baddest Motherf****) - a single elimination bracket 1500 point tournament.
My first round opponent was Space Wolves; I got to go first, deployed my DE raiders pretty evenly across my center deployment zone (pitched battle). He put his entire army into one terrain piece to my top right in an effort to deny me a flank. Dreadnought surrounded by grey hunters, long fangs, Wolf Lord....
Disintegrators (36" plasma cannons) love bunched up units. My dark lances weapon destroyed, then exploded his dreadnought, getting about 14 hits on surrounding units, and my ravagers simply evaporated his units - they were packed in so close together, not all could fit into terrain and those simply died, and I had a single wych unit with a 12" charge that rolled a good fleet and got into CC with the long fangs I didn't kill.
At the end of my turn1, he had a wounded wolf lord, two units of grey hunters, and a unit of long fangs (stuck in combat) left on the table and conceded.
On the flip side, it was a kill point game, and he had 7 killpoints on the table to my 23.

Twice in tournaments I've seen Dark Eldar players lose on top 1. They had their nonsense in webway portals, the deployer squads on the tables.
Tau opened up on them, using those missiles that don't need LOS, etc, and wiped out the squads on the table.
Army in reserve is destroyed because it is unable to get on the board. Sad Face.
One of them was cool about it, one of them had a temper tantrum and left.
|
All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).

3750pt Apoc (small, I know) between my IG/CSM and friends Tau/SM. This wasn't much of a "destroy entire army within a few turns" match, but it is somewhat related. My mech vets dont do jack other than get popped and routed. My MOO manages to scatter off of EVERYTHING. I never did manage to roll decent penitration with my LR's lascannons. My winged Lord in power armor however, manages to slaughter a 5-man squad, most of a tac squad, and most of a squad of TH/SS termies. All while taking only one wound. Hail Khorne?

no one will believe this but the best beat down ever for me involved imp guard veterans in close combat against black templar veterans. I was playn a game at a local tournament, and my vets were holding an objective. The termies assaulted them and killed all the vets except the sarge. The sarge killed one termie that turn. Two turns later he still wasn't dead, and he killed 4 of those termies with his powersword. game eventually ended, with the objective in contest, but I still had one more objective held which won the game for me. That vet was my hero of the game

When the new battle missions came out, my FLGS had a tournament using a few of them. One in particular involved deploying nine inches out from the centre line, deploying from short board edges.
My opponent cockily placed his Blood Angels up to toe the line.
I smiled and placed 130 wounds worth of Ork 19" away and let him have his first turn.

BIG battle me chaos+orks against my friends SM's it boiled down to one of my custom marines (power fist melta w/chainsaw-bayonet (i know that's prob not legal)) and a squad of those black Templar scouts, it was an extremely long battle so i was allowed to roll against every man in the squad, roll to hit/wound killed all but 2! who fled. BTW in that battle my custom command marine saved against 32 wounds from a variety of units

Necromunda game. Our first ever in the local league actually.
We rolled it up, I chose the "Ambush" mission, and his entire gang ended up in the center of the table (no 6's to redeploy). Heavy stubber opens up, heavy bolter opens up, grenade launcher opens up, enemy gang bottles turn one. Gang leader and heavy roll 1-x's on the serious injury table and die outright.

About 2 weeks ago, @ Gigabytes, held a touranment and the pizes was first place gets a 2000 point army of they chose. So you think all the players would bring they most hateful army......yeh right.
Well i brought out my Space Wolves, 8 Thunder Cav w/stormshield and two with Thunderhammer. 2 Wolf Lord on Thunder Cav with Forst Ax and Shield and 15 LongFang
the last match I had to play was against Eldar, within three turns the Eldar player quit, my ThunderCav just run up and started to slaughter everything in site. The Eldar player stated that he never played against Space Wolves intil this day. Well I gave him the Royal beat down, and was done when the TO say there was 1 and half left to play
The play match and best beat down came at the second round of Ard Boyz.
I had to play against Choas Demon
my list was 3 Lord on thudercav forst axe and Shield each lord had two Thudercav with shield and Thunderhammer
The Choas Player throw everything he had against my Cav and I meant everthing inculding the kitchen sink
Two Demon Prince/ one was Skarbrand
two full group of Bloodletters
two Soulgrinder
one Bloodcrushers
Basically we lock up in combat in turn two and did not end till turn 5
Everything he own was completely destory......thanks to Skarbrand best wishes

I made pretty much every KFF save and my battlewagons ran rampant through his army; burnas incinerating plague marines, khorne berzerkers, deffrollas taking down land raiders....at the end of the game, I had lost a single big shoota off of a battlewagon and 3 burnas.
#2: Last week a buddy of mine brought his necrons to the table. Spearhead deployment and I won the roll to go first. I put out my battlewagon line, he put his destroyers on the 24" line, his warriors on the 24" line, and his monoliths in reserve. I moved forward 12" scouted my deffkoptas into his destroyers....killed all but one between them and Lootas, and the Lord ran off the table. =p Turn 2 I killed everything else and he phased out without ever getting to bring in his reserves! Flawless victory, I lost nothing.

Necrons VS IG He was had two 50 man blob squads a two LR and Vanquisher?(plasma tank) heavy weapons platforms two chimeras with troops. DOW deployment, my ctan was only thing on table, 18inches He had first turn. He tried to searchlight my ctan, failed nightfight twice, third time got it. plasma tank failed to hit, lascannons failed to wound or i saved, took one wound from 1850 of shooting on my ctan. I moved and ran the Ctan, Turbo boosted destroyers onto the table, walked in warriors out of LOS scarabs turbo boosted. Second turn shooting, everything but the two regular LR shot at the ctan, added a few plasma and melta that were now in range, 1 wound, incredible saves on my part. Both russes shot at destroyers, saved all but one non-instadeath. Turn 2, Destroyer that went down got back up, Deep struck in 3 liths perfect direct hit or scatter. I blocked him into a table quarter and Particle whipped vehicles, 1 boom 2 weap destroyed because I didnt feel like counting how many ig i could hit. destroyers popped a chimera, scarabs stunned the other. Ctan assualted and did 1 wound... 3rd turn, ctan etheric tempested (his assualt phase, he did almost nothing in shooting, only los was liths and killed 5 scarabs with a flamer) pushed his squad out of combat, pushed hq off table, pushed vets off table, almost pushed blob squad off table, bottom of 3, ctan ate the plasma tank, other russ died to particle whip, blob squad ran off table to casualties, and silence settled over the battlefield. only thing he had left on the table was a falling back vet squad that would have fallen off beginning four. massacre

My first battle I had AOBR (yes I am new to 40k, but I am a vet at LOTR), it's almost a year ago now I charged with my 10 piece boyz squad, forgot my big shoota was assault (How orky eh, well, I was a newbie), and killed the whole squad.
In the end I lost, but I was just about to charge the tac squad with my two squads of ten boyz, that wouldn't be pretty, and his dreadnought was virtually dead, with three deffcoptas with rokkits in his back.
All in all, he was happy to see the game had finished before I had my turn, well unless he had initiative, so yeah he might have won, it was that termy v boy assault that was brutal, so yeah you get the point.

We played a small 750pt game, my orks against my uncle's SW (old codex). My army was mostly a trukk boyz type thing, though not all trukk boyz.
At the end of the game, i had killed everything but 2 bikers and all he had killed was one trukk, 6 boyz and wounded a nob. I think he'd have had a better chance if he'd have put his Blood Claws in the rhino and left his grey hunters footslogging, instead of the other way round. The grey hunters got one turn of shooting (and killed the 6 boyz from a footslogging unit) but then got charged by the remainder of it and my warbikers (who then went on to blow up the rhino). The trukk was killed by his bikers (meltagun) and the nob was wounded in combat against the blood claws.

Recent Tournament I attended, Game six. My dwarf Gunline vs Vampire Counts. He ran a small pack of Dire Wolves, and a unit composed of 5 Blood Knights+His General+ his BSB, straight at the gunline, while everything else stayed in his deploymant zone.
It was like the charge of the Light Brigade.
Turn one, killed the Dire Wolves, and Several Blood Knights.
Turn Two, killed the remaining Blood Knights and BSB
Turn three, killed his General.
There was no turn four.
Total Casualties: 5 Dire Wolves, 5 Blood Knights, Wight King, Vampire Lord, Organ Gun (Misfired).

Last week I played my IG vs BA. One of our local gamers wanted to field test his 1750 list for a tourney this past weekend (He took 2nd), so I just chopped 250 points off my 2K list, basically droped the Paskquisher and a little wargear. We got to the middle of turn four and he conceded, as he was down to just a couple of infantry models and an immobilized Dread. My total casualties were two plasma gunners from Gets Hot, two Psyker Battle Squad memebrs from Perils of the Warp and an immobilized (due to failed difficult terrain roll) Chimera. That was it. he didn't cause a single casualty and I probably would have finished tabling him on turn 4.

In the last LGS Fantasy tournament I was playing the Storm of Chaos Skaven Clan Eshin List at 2000 points against a Tomb Kings army. We deployed everything and he had put all his HQ's behind his main units for some reason. My turn came up and I just skitter leaped to his side into combat (using the special skitterleap from SoC) with the Master Assassin to his Hierophant. Killed it. He quit. Setup took longer than the entire game.

I tabled a chaos player at my flgs with 4th ed tyranids. He said he wanted a good representation of what he would see at ard boyz. He didn't kill an entire unit/mc and I tabled him (killed his DP twice, shot it dead once with devourers and after calling me cheese I let him put it back down, and then assaulted it...ass whipping for him, my genestealers killed it before the tyrant even got to strike).
He went from bragging about winning the local ard boyz scene to not playing in it at all. I almost felt bad, except he was a tfg. What's sad is that I don't play competitive, only for fun.

My most brutal beating?
I played the VASSAL-League of our second german 40k fan board.
I made it to the final and decided to play my IG flanking force.
And I met my worst nightmare: 2x10 Jetlocks and Holotanks and a few Jetbikes. (Someone wanted to outwit me, I suppose, and it actually worked... )
Mission was Killpoints.
Everything seemed to be against me, but I managed to get first turn, I made the first council flee despite LD10 rerollable. The second was tied up in penal legions and after Harker and his catachan Veterans joined the melee Harker personally killed the farseer and the warlocks got beaten to death. The rest of his army was crippled in a few turns, I only sacrifeced 2 chimeras and 1 penal legion to the emperor, the enemy stood there with 1 jetbike squad in reserve, 2 pathfinders and one immobile weaponless prism and conceded after turn 3.
The strangest thing was: I played tactically worse than him, because I made a little mistake, which costed me 2 chimeras. (I closed the hatch of an immobile firedragonfalcon and went away... stupid...*headshot to myself*). I did not see a mistake on his side.
After the game I apologized for the result and felt a little bad for winning the most decisive game by dice rolls...

Best for me was my C: SM v Dark Angels
Dice gods loved me - TFC rolled hit 7 of 8 shots over 2 turns, my Vindi kills his turn 2, Lysander and cohort take out Belial and his retinue in turn 3 - by end turn 4 he had 5 marines with a ML left with LR, Ironclad, Lysander bearing down on him.
Flip side - I got tabled by nids in 3 turns - had Lysander (engaged to 7 stealers and 2 big bugs), an immobilised LR and a tactical squad in Rhino left. Ouch.

I've had two games against first time players with me as chaos, and them as space marines, about a year apart, where die rolls and sheer luck had me table them on 2nd turn. Both 3rd ed. if I recall correctly. Neither ever played another game of 40k again I still see these guys and they play other games, but not 40k... And I still get crap about it. The worst part is that my usual record against space marines is mediocre at best. Needless to say I'm not allowed to play new players anymore.
