Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

So there's threads about the deadliest unit, and other stuff.......I thought one about the worst beating you've ever administered would be fun.

I have two examples:

#1: 2500 point 'Ard Boyz practice game in spring 2009 - I played against Chaos Marines with my Orks. I made pretty much every KFF save and my battlewagons ran rampant through his army; burnas incinerating plague marines, khorne berzerkers, deffrollas taking down land raiders....at the end of the game, I had lost a single big shoota off of a battlewagon and 3 burnas.

#2: Last week a buddy of mine brought his necrons to the table. Spearhead deployment and I won the roll to go first. I put out my battlewagon line, he put his destroyers on the 24" line, his warriors on the 24" line, and his monoliths in reserve. I moved forward 12" scouted my deffkoptas into his destroyers....killed all but one between them and Lootas, and the Lord ran off the table. =p Turn 2 I killed everything else and he phased out without ever getting to bring in his reserves! Flawless victory, I lost nothing.

How about you?

I can beat you... 'ardboyz qualifiers, my second game. I played against nids with my mechanized marines.

I went first, so he decided to keep most things in reserve, except a tyrant and some gaunts... rest deep striking/outflanking. By the end of the game, he had a unit of warriors left, and a squad of gaunts in a corner. I had lost a heavy bolter off a land speeder typhoon... and thats it. Not one model lost.

I also once played against a tau player in an 1850 point tournament with my 3 raider GK list. I tabled him, while losing not a single model (not even a damaged result on a raider). first turn barrage of lascannons killed all his broadsides, and he had no other anti-tank.

After the orbital strikes, Thunderhawk bombardments, Whirlwinds, Vindicators, fusion and starfire and finally Battle Brothers with flamers had finished cleansing the world of all the enemies of Man, we built a monastery in the center of the largest, most radioactive impact crater. We named the planet "Tranquility", for it was very quiet now.

'Ard boyz preliminaries '10

My third round opponent played 22 terminators in 4 land raiders, with 10 tactical marines spread between two drop pods. (Black Templars)

I had two squads of fire dragons, a council, three wave serpents with bright lances.

A few turns later, I lost the council (characters were still alive), and a squad of dragons... and that was it, I think he managed two immobilize two wave serpents.

My list is hard to actually get tabled by, since half the points are put into passive units (dire avengers in wave serpents)

So, naturally, I don't have any horror stories like these.

40k League Game, back in Michigan, when I was playing WAAC Biel-Tan, maxed-out with Wraithlords and Starcannons and Reapers and all of the really mean stuff. It was pretty close to an optimal build for 3E, and I don't recall ever losing with it.

Anyhow, I was playing against a really nice Black Templars guy, got the first turn and lit him up. My dice were on fire and I ended up clearing practically his entire army by the end of my 2nd shooting phase. He conceded and was a total gentleman about it, tho I know it had to be completely frustrating for him.

Nowadays, I feel bad for him, and won't do that kind of thing to an opponent unless they really deserve it.

My daemons vs deathwing. 1st round 3 squads of flamers, 2 squads of screamers, and fateweaver arrived, and 3 squads of deathwing, including belial, immediately died to the flamers. Only units not dead were the ones inside the raiders who made the mistake of getting out to try and do some shooting. After a bit of firing, no unsaved wounds. Flamers jumped over, wiped out the remaining terminator squads, and the flamers flew up and ate the LR's. Didn't lose a single wound, table opponent round 2 with half my army.

Other nasty one was when daemons just came out, right before 5th. I used them against someone who had just picked up a necron army. He started with all his warriors on the table, 4 units of warriors, and a lord, couple monoliths. Fateweaver, 3 squads of flamers in first round, I went first. Flamers wiped out 3 units, fateweaver did a few wounds to the last squad of warriors, who were out of position for the orb, and one of the shots was the S8, so no WBB. Phased out turn 1, below 25%.

I never brutally beat anyone (I never beat anyone) but I have seen all my guardsmen go down in a 500 point battle, it was a kill points mission and by the end of his third turn all I had left was an immobilized and "weapon destroyed" sentinel. I can proudly say he lost 2 guardians and a jetbike...

I never played again...

...but that has nothing to do with that since I still had a pretty nice time.

Despite being guard he only brought one unit capable of breaking a land raider which I killed first turn.

I was playing IG, vs a Khorne/Tzeentch Daemons list, with 2 greaters.

I castled up in a corner, spread a line of bubble wrap infantry around it, and waited. A squad of horrors wiped a foot vet squad off the table, while his bigbird hid behind a building. Some screamers sat there too.
My turn rolls around, I open up on the horrors, screamers and big bird. The horrors burn in FRFSRF, the Screamers eat a Demolisher shell, and Big Bird loses half its wounds to Manticore shells.

He gets his Soulgrinder and Bloodletters, the soulgrinder dropping right in front of my lines. It's tongue does jack gak, and Big Bird charges my Bubble wrap, doing little of value.
My turn I wipe out the soulgrinder, and bigbird chews on the squad. The Bloodletters had been misplaced by the warp, and ate a basilisk shell.

His Bloodthirster comes in, bellows a mighty challenge, and promptly hides behind a building out of sight of my guns. BigBird eventually finishes his snack, right in front of my army.
My Chimeras encircle the birdy, and open fire, leaving a mutating stain on the floor.

His Bloodthirster flies up onto the building, again doing nothing. My guns open fire. There's nothing left.
I lost a total of 2 infantry squads, tabelled the daemon army

Best beat down that comes to mind was my Marines against Tau. He had a standard gun line deployed along the entire table. I jumped a unit of Assualt Marines led by a Librarian onto his left flank, and slaughtered his entire army with that one unit in 2 turns.

A more recent one was myself drop podding against an unexperienced Daemon player. I wiped him out to a model, and lost 3 marines. It was only his 2nd or 3rd game, and he was about 13 so it wasn't much to brag about. I spent more time going over strategy with him afterwards then the actual game lasted.

I played 1000 points of demons vs tau. i dropped in he shot killed a coupke seekers then i assaulted. he was tabled round 3.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Also last week played against one of our better players who ran eldar,i will admit it was not his best build. End of round 3 he had a wraith lord and snipers left on table. I had his wraith lord circled with my whole 2000 points other than flamers who were about to eat the snipers. My only model killed was a single pink horror. Caught him off guard since he had slaughtered my past demons builds. But this was my new fatecrusher list and proved much tougher.

At a local tourny this last weekend I played against a Dark eldar player with my C:SM. It was the last round of a 1500pt 3 rounder, and so far I had scored an 4-11 loss and 10-7 draw. [3 for win, 7 for draw 10 for win, with 3 possible bonus and 3 possible penalty points.]

I was out for blood, and the emperor showed me favor. First turn of shooting, I down 3 raiders and both of his ravagers. He looked very upset. His shooting phase saw him shoot the 6 remaining darklances at my landraider who had popped smoke and was zooming at the center of his forces. The best he got was a stunned result, which extra armor took care of. That allowed me to engage the remaining shooting base he had. After that it was a matter of picking up some objective markers. I tabled him before the game ended though.

All game all I lost was most of a combat squad and a couple terminators who were chewing through his lines. Finished with 13-0 win

Gad, too many to choose from. I guess the 'best was a game years back, my IG against his Marines. I lost more models to plasma overheat than he killed, while tabling his army. I've had lots of games where I lose about one squad worth of IG while tabling or nearly tabling my opponent. Like the guy that conceded at the Baltimore GT on round 3 when his Chaos army was down to less than 10 Infantry models, and he had killed a senitnel and a few of my infantry.

I was getting beat pretty bad, I was down to just a couple models against someone's entire army.

So I pulled out my magic wand and yelled "wingardium leviosa!"
and flipped the table over.

My opponent got pretty pissed. Some people just can't deal with losing I guess.

I'm not much of a wreck your hobby brutal guy.

But theoretically this could happen.

Genestealers army with spore mines vs. a non mech army in Dawn of war.

Nid player places spore mines in opponents deployment zone so they cannot deploy.

Nid player then infiltrates two units of 20 genestealers along opponents board edge.

Mine was in a Warhammer Fantasy tourney three or so editions ago...it was right after the Lizardmen first came out. I had your usual Empire gunline with some knights, and he had a rather small Saurus-heavy army with the centerpiece being a large unit of Temple Guard and a Slann Mage-Priest. This was the second or third game of the day - he was a bit younger than me (I was in my mid-twenties back then, and I'd put him at eighteen or so), but he was very proud of his army - he kept bragging on the Slann and Temple Guard, telling me what a huge portion of his force they were points-wise and all the awesome things they could do. He seemed nice enough, but he was VERY competitive - he was there to win. I don't even think I was in the running that day, having had my ass handed to me in one of the first games by my buddy Dave, whose Wood Elves had been the bane of every army I played...

Any-whoo, we were two or three turns in when he decided to march that great big Slann-Temple-Guard square into range of both of my Helblaster Volley Guns - I actually stopped him and pointed that he was walking into range, but he kept insisting that the Temple Guard could "take it." I shot the first volley gun into 'em and did a good amount of damage - killed maybe a quarter of his Temple Guard. He looked a little sick, but he didn't say anything. Well, I went to shoot the second volley gun and hit that crazy combination in that particular edition of Warhammer (Hit and a Misfire, maybe?) where you fired ALL of the barrels instead of just one and they were all at a higher strength than normal. Each barrel rolled a separate artillery dice for hits, and I think I ended up with like 56 S6 hits or some such abomination...Needless to say, it wiped that big block of Temple Guard and the Mage-Priest general right off of the board in one shooting phase. He didn't take it well - he accused me of cheating, so I showed him the entry in the codex...he said that couldn't possibly be how it worked, so we dragged the owner/judge over and he confirmed that we'd done it right. He finally got so upset that he swept his army into the box he carried them in and walked out of the tourney choking back tears of rage...

And I ain't played in a tournament SINCE!

Inside a pretty, pretty pain cave... won't you come inside?

In final game of a tourney, tabled a MC/gant swarm Nid list with my ork Kan/Dread bash list that could shoot 20+ rokkits per turn. Everything just sort of fell into place as I popped 1-2 MC/turn with rokkits while the 2 dreads skorcha/chopped through piles of gants per turn. Didn't lose a single unit until the last turn, when the dread and some trukk boyz finished off the final tervigon on his objective (in the far corner of spearhead). Took down tervigon who took dread with him. When tervigon died, last fleeing gants exploded for a complete tabling.

In previous tourney, tabled a Sisters player with the same list and only models lost were the five Kommandos who joined with Snikrot and died in a pair of Exorcist explosions. I didn't kill every last model; the Canoness and retinue were able to flee the table. But the I took no satisfaction from the win; it was against a new, and very nice, player. Massacres are rarely fun unless you get them against the store douche.

Pulled this from an old thread.

Grunt13 wrote:Another Necromunda one:
When playing with my terrain I granted a special benefit for winning the battle or accomplishing something of merit in the game. The player got to graffiti a piece of my terrain with a pen. This led to some interesting taunting and established animosity between gangs and even individual characters within a gang. The guy who originally lured me to Necromunda was my regular opponent and had the habit of just butchering me for my first few games. His graffiti was especially nasty. When he killed one of my young braves if left a tag on a building that read “I put down Dog Meat right here” with an arrow point to the location where if capped my guy while he was clutching a gut shot wound.

My shaman had the power of curse dance. What that meant was if my shaman spent his whole turn dancing around instead of doing anything else my opponent would automatically lose all the initiative tests that he would take that turn. I originally didn’t see the point of such an ability and reasoned that my shaman would be better utilized in the direct conflict. But in later games I saw the upside to such talent. Whenever a model was hit with a ballistic weapon they were pinned and could recover if they had a buddy next to them. If the model was pinned within an inch of an edge to a building or other elevated position they had to pass initiative test or fall off it.

The next game my shaman sat behind my gang and danced away. My opponents guys where placed along building and catwalks and every time I hit one of his guys with a musket round he would plummet to the ground - I had a bunch of his guys crawling around the floor level down with serous injuries while I continued to pump ammo at them.

The next time I played the guy he seemed eager to face my ratskins again. He apparently had a foolproof method of defeating me and my dancing shaman. His gang went out and all purchased support cables that he used to hook his gangers to the building. The way the rope work is that instead of falling you just hung off the side until you passed a strength test and pulled yourself up.

I gun each of them off their perch but instead of falling they just swung around on their wire. So his army is swinging around while the rest of my army save my shaman and Dog Meat II plug gunfire into the piñatas. Most of his guys were downed at this time so they just hung there bleeding while I continued to gain experience for each wound I inflicted on them. Dog Meat II instead of joining in with the other guys was sprinting over to their building to avenge Dog Meat I. He ran to each anchor point and cut the wire sending the hanging meat bags to their demise. My graffiti at the bottom level was something along the lines of, “Today at this location the carrion eaters feasted like never before”. Nothing is sweeter then than avenging a fallen comrade - I really miss Necromunda, one of these days I will try to get a bunch of people playing again. But paying 25 dollars for a gang is such a huge price commitment to request from a wargamer.

During an extremely short campaign which sadly only lasted one game as the campaign manager moved, I rightly stomped his IG 1850 list with my Death Guard leaving him with approximately 10 Guardsmen and leaving me with nothing but a dead PM and a wound on a Daemon Prince.
Also a game involving my old, old pure NG army versus an older gentleman with a slightly new Bretonnian army leaves him with nothing but the Green Knight and I lose all my fanatics and a single unit of 20 NG.

Outflanking

Game of 8th edition last night. Dark Elves and Beastmen vs my Dwarves.

First turn, take out some big monster with a cannon shot. A nearby unit of Warhounds fails it's panic test and runs, in turn paniking a unit of Ungors. This basically colapses the flank in one shot. Once I fire my Organ Guns, the only thing left on that half of the table is a rather battered unit of Bestigors.

Altogether, the ionly units to see combat on my opponents side were:

Unit of Crossbow Elves, charged and destroyed by Ironbreakers turn 2.

Lone Bestigor, which only killed 2 Warmachine Crew members.

Assasin and Corsair Champion, who were beaten up by a unit of Thunderers.

All told, I lost:

5 Thunderers

2 Crew Members on an Organ Gun

5 Ironbreakers

1 Grudge Thrower, which self-destructed

all told, 25% of my casualties were self-inflicted.
