Well these people are a compleate waste of space and I shall hand them all to Lord Khorne as a sacrifice just to clear the matter....(Lets see em sue that).....

Just saying is all, they may use it for unintended purposes but it is still their right to protest. (Trust me, I don't like it either)

Again--they're not protesting. They do it as a publicity stunt and to make money.

They need to be denied any permits they file--but of course that's not going to happen, because they immediately sue for violating their "civil rights".

TBH, the best way (or rather, the best legal way) to deal with 'em is counter protests. One of the local radio stations in my neck of the woods organizes one, think it's called "God Hates Douchebags." Just as long as you avoid anything that could possibly be construed as assault, as they're rather trigger happy with those attorneys of theirs.

@Kanluwen: I get what your saying, but it IS their right. If there was some way to prove without a doubt that's what they were doing though...

They need to be disbarred, but again--of course it's not going to happen.

Regardless of their REASON for protesting, it (sadly) *IS* a legal protest. While I won't say that they aren't doing anything wrong, I WILL say they aren't doing anything illegal.

...and I'm saying that ComiCon attendees should "not do anything illegal" right back at them.

Thinking of a protest ouside some broadway-type shows. People dresses as angels came out and sang showtunes during the breaks. Their angel wings and singing completely blocked the WBC protesters from view and hearing.

Shouldn't be too hard with the massive amount of people at comic con.

Funny how such things only ever happen in America, where the Right of Free Speech is held in such a high esteem that it can be used as an excuse to what could be considered organized crime, but where you aren't allowed to say f*** or sh** on television. I think if it weren't for the US, life on planet Earth would be a lot more boring. Now go and bombard them with super-smelly-XXL-geek summertime odor

Uh, you should be REALLY glad you also live in a country where free speech is held in such a "high esteem" as it is. In fact, holding free speech at the highest esteem is the cornerstone of democracy. Even if it might offend (although not threaten) people.

It's not like things like this don't happen in Germany, Sweden, UK or anywhere else in Europe. It's just that the Westboro really managed to push the right buttons and/or have a pretty good PR-talent.

Apologies.... No true offense meant. I lived in SD for a while (Navy) and I know some people that go to the Con every year. That said, its rather unfortunate that its forecast to be kinda mild... even cool by SoCal standards, that weekend... Mid 70s and such.

These guys make all Christians look bad. I especially feel bad for the kids that group raises. Have you ever seen them on the news? I know kids say the darndest things, and while I'm all for free speech, seeing a eight year old spew out a line of curse words and other foul language is a little disturbing (and a wee bit sad ).

And for the record, God only loves Mormons. South Park said so. It has to be true.

Comon guy, you can just do what this dude did....

I say con-goers picket the picket. They can carry signs that say "God hates people that think he hates stuff"

I have to agree with you, because only the bad (sorta fake) Christians every get the spot light which shows bad upon my faith. I can promise every single one of you that 99% of Christian Ministors and Preachers arent even close to this. I even think its safe to say that a Preacher that says that God hates ANYBODY shuoldnt be in that position in a church. They are horrible influences on the community and horrible people in general.

More or less. The God <insert verb> <insert noun> groups are rare but they're pretty much all you ever see on TV. The rest of Christians are too normal to make interesting news coverage XD.

San Diego Convention Center 111 W Harbor Dr. WBC to picket Comic Con 2010 at the San Diego Convention Center. Are you kidding?! If these people would spend even some of the energy that they spend on these comic books, reading the Bible, well no high hopes here. They have turned comic book characters into idols, and worship them they do! He takes things way out of proportion. Theres is a line between Intrest - Obsession - Unhealthy Obsession - and Idolitry. Comi-con is a place for people with similar intrests to gather and enjoy themselves. Last time i checked, there werent any devotional services to Batman.

I don't go to churches of any sort because of morons like that. Maybe if they realized that they are responsible for their own actions and are chasing people away from the churches they seem to want to fill, they wouldn't do such stupid things.
