Hey whats BWC?

I love Sersi's stuff. I actually asked him for advice last week...he's given me a useful booklist - just need to save up to get them!

Will check out Migsula's now.

As for 'back home' hadn't thought of that till now! Do'h! I guess he see's it as a lesser of two weavils? Or...the official non-official fluff 'The Primarch, due to the prevailing warpstorms is unaware of his deification on his home planet...'

Good fluff, I've previously thought there was a link to be made via the presence of the old ones in both systems. The primarchs are an interesting idea and link in, certainly a novel to be had in exploring what sounds like chaos' first attempt at corrupting a primarch and their defeat

So, yep, I like it... although I'd be lying if I said I thought that everyone would be a fan of the sigmar and his space marinez

@Atre! Thanks for the comment! Yes I know...I think some people might be really against it! But as long as some people are for thats cool.

Besides, I've started so I intend to finish!

@ShadowAngel159

Sorry mate...I guess I should be happy people are looking and not flamering me for my heretical views.

Anyway:

I have a huge amount of real world work to do (have to finish 6 months work by Tuesday), and I am back out of the city for nearly two weeks from Monday.

However, I have a modeling timetable:

By Friday I want to finish stripping my marines (oi oi)...no seriously...I have about 50 figs sat in a tub of Simple Green...they've been there for over two weeks and the paint is so thick I am having to individually scrape them with a pin. In the pot are a mix of Catachans, Squats, Terminators (I have Chaos termies which I will just GS slighly to Pre-Heresy Termies) quite a few Commissars, and about 30 Marines and Scouts...

Will then break down everything into squads and post some pics...so you can see what I have....

Saturday I want to try and get my Primarch (that is the thing that looks like it has been whittled) ready for GS...so I am looking for major help on that. For instance - do I work from head down, or feet up? Do I do his torso first?
This will be my first ever use of GS...

I want it to be a fairly plane armour a. so it matches my skill level, and b. because he is huge and I have a good paint scheme in mind...

Sunday...well aside from packing will undercoat what I've done...and post some pics...

Anyway...doing some more fluff wise...

I'm wondering how to use Chaplains and Commissars in a army that doesn't believe in divinity of the Emperor? I really like the models so they are in...Have a special rule in mind - sort of political agitator - which can turn imperial forces with visions of Primarchs and Emperors...so they'd be psykers...obviously...that isn't in the rules so my opponents will have to agree...

Thats it for now...

So...here is what I think the Shoulder Pads will look like on the Marines, and IGs...

What do people think? Are flames hard to paint...? Should I freehand paint? Or should I keep churning out pad icons like I have done for my dreads and vehicles...

I would need to do about 500 I think....

Hi

@Monkey Troll...yes I thought of that...I guess I can give it a go...will take a look at the site. And yep...I think I have about 500 imperial minis...all most all metal. Aside from what I have here in the Philippines (about 200 marines and 200 IG + Squats) I have another entire box which contains well...my halfling army...but aside from that about two squads of imperial beastmen another twenty or so squats...and I think a couple squads of IG and some SMs. So all in all I have about 500...I hasten to add that my army is effectively harmless as most of my marines are armless! - 1 of my 35 terminators has arms...(where did I put them!!!!)...

What else? Oh...also I lack vehicles...I have a load of rhinos but nothing for my IG...I have a few sentinels...but I am not sure how effective they are in the modern game...to be honest I just used to like to line all my men up and march them forward...

'Exactly! And that is what is so brilliant about it! It will catch the watchful Greenskin totally off guard! Doing precisely what we've done eighteen times before is exactly the last thing they'll expect us to do this time!'

Anyway...I can't really recall what I have...that is is the trouble you move house every year for a decade and then move country!

Update

So last night after cleaning minis for two hours (and managing to get just six done - looks like my friends used cement based paint) I decided I would do some work on my Primarch Sigmar.
I liked the idea of him being like a juggernaut (hence his massive size) so I thought he would need some serious hydraulics on his armour. The pictures below basically show what happened...I really didn't like it in the end, so after 40mins of successfully getting glue over my phone whilst I struggled to take pictures I quit when I was behind...

And then in the corner of my eye I saw my solitary green stuff packet. I'd never used GS before so I decided seen as my evenings modeling had been a failure I may as well give it ago...as I removed it from its packet I was surprised to see multiple strips inside! I did not know that. So it is not as hideously expensive as I thought...and compared to the wood coloured epoxy I had been whittling and sculpting...its so easy to use! I only took a little off because it was passed midnight...but....

I LOVE GREEN STUFF!!!! I LOVE GREEN STUFF!!!

And so below is my first ever use of GS...what do you think? I've just marked on where I want to bulk it out. Tonight I want to cover him in his underchassey...and then try and do some fancy stuff like knee pads...

Oh and to give you an idea of size...his breastplate is from a dreadnought!

Ps. My 100th post!

Well...another relatively unsuccessful nights modeling...

I realized as soon as I tried to actually to do some modeling with green stuff that I was waaaay out of my depth. So far out of my depth in fact that I was no longer in the swimming pool but in a ocean world of pain...

Basically the night before last I with extreme excitement figured modeling with green-stuff was fairly easy. Its not. Last night I successfully made one pair of shorts for a Ogryn. A nappy for a ogryn and a great green blob.

So I have decided that I am wasting time and resources on my scartch built Primarch Sigmar and will instead just biggersize a plastic termie that I have and make him just a little bit bigger than the rest. I figure I can just about manage decals etc from GS...so that is what he will have...he will have a lot of stuff trailing behind him (like a comet) and will also have a caved in space marine on his base...which will probably be dreadnought size...

But I have a question - what should Sigmar have in his left hand: shield, flamer...I have no idea...anyway...should be able to get a lot of models cleaned up and do some undercoating on the weekend...then all will be silent on the Eastern front for a while....

For Sigmar, I would vote for him having a sword (or some other form of power weapony doom), and a shield. I don't really picture a Primarch (besides perturabo) having use of a gun (or flamer).

My two cents

There are a couple of squads missing there: a metal cadain sqaud, a metal catachan, some squats (some are still to be stripped and some (about 20) are in the uk) and about 20-30 more Imperial Beastmen.

Of all the models that I have - and I seem to have by chance gained a lot of OOP - is this guy: I am pretty sure he is the first ever Ratling from the first Ed. I actually really like Ratlings. I am missing three of the produced Ratling models...I am on the look out for those; the first ones produced with Sniper Rifles. Anyway, I am thinking of painting this guy up as a commisar...it has never made sense to me why Ratlings don't have commissars....anyway...like the rest of my halflings and a few cadians...er...undercoat from BQ and 'paint' from felt - tip.

So. The backbone of my Legion:

On top of this I have the tanks and bikes (check page 1) a new Techmarine and Retinue and I think at least another 10 terminators (and a hell of a lot of metal arms that I hope to god I haven't lost). And a dread. Oh and 4-5 Landspeeders. 4 metal 1 plastic. And some 90s era LOTD. Anyway - you can see a very distinct feature - I am missing a lot of arms. A LOT of arms.

Mate: Paint thinner, stripper, pinesol, simple green and meths.

I don't know whay sort of paint my friends used but it just forms into clumps of oil.

Most of those left need to be picked with a pin. Although, I am going to try one with oven cleaner!

Good luck with the stripping I swear by Dettol myself. I'm not sure what it stands for but just type it into your Search Engine of choice and you'll find a Yahoo group with an archive of a lot of 40k papercraft templates.

@Miss Dee and Llamahead

Will try both. After this batch I have another full box back in the UK which I will pick up at Xmas...and would prefer not to spend days stripping them.

I'm going to be away sans net for a week or so...but I completed two of the tanks (pic on page 1) that were built from card twixt a dismantled Rhino....

Out of interest...what points/stats should Sigmar have? I am considering just using the stats of a Daemon Prince + a special rule/space marine rules. Bearing in mind that in Warhammer Sigmar killed a arch-rival without injury and in my official Warhammer 40k fluff he managed to kill a brother Primarch - who was blessed by Chaos - without injury.

@ Miss Dee - Thanks will give it a go..I don't have any plastic models that need stripping - I had a fairly nasty accident a decade ago which lost me all my plastic.

Anyway, just a quick as the hotel I am in unexpectedly has internet...but no fan...go figure?...

Any views on the stats of Sigmar as Primarch? Thinking of Daemon Prince...

And what are peoples views on commission painting...I want to paint most myself...but I am not sure I am can give the older models the paint job they deserve...though I guess I have a lot to practice on.

Will do a mass of undercoating when back....

Oh! Awesome news by the way...I've had a massive windfall (in theory) to my hobby fund...my partner is going on a yoga retreat for a week - so I get to get the same amount for my hobby/interest. Not that we have the money as we've just spent it on a yoga retreat...

But anyway...means I can afford a few bits and bobs...but I am not sure what of the new model range I like. I want thunderhammers...and a halfling catapult and a ninja ogre...but thats it...any thoughts about whats good to get?

@ Kanelom : Thanks! I appreciate the liking! It is very hard to say points wise: a lot of the models that I have (IG Beastmen, Squats, Jet Bikes, Space Slann) just aren't around in Codex anymore - which I think is a real shame! If all my space Marines had arms, I think well over 10,000Pts just for my SM...afterall I have at least 40 Terminators and will need to buy more to replace missing arms! In terms of imperial guard I don't know to be honest - probably less than the space marines though I have more models for them a lot of them are no longer legal. How much would 20 IG Beastmen be pointwise? Saying that...how much would a Primarch be? Will get a new IG codex so I can count them up. Need to sit down and do some calculations...

@ White Wolf 0231 That is a very good point. I would love to say 'Yeah...my own work'. Will do it. Barcardi and Coke. Do it. Oh...and I don't ever download anything. Honest. 'Wink'

@ Miss Dee! First of all thanks for all the feeback so far! Appreciate that a lot! I think it would be 'slowly slowly catchy believer' for me...afterall the Sigmarites are Pre-Heresy effectively and non-beliverers....or...is it just a cunning plan by Chaos?

@Bear La Morte: Will correct when back in Manila; I always forget to do it!

Little update: Back in Manila tomorrow but back to the site on Sat for another half week, so I won't be able to do much...will get a Codex IG though and bring my SM with me and do some points calculations...

So long, and thanks for all the fish.
