Well side tracked again. My terms still are not finished but I painted up 20 orks from the AOBR set over the weekend. I'll have some pics up when I get back home. So all I have left to paint from my AOBR set is the 3 deffkoptaz and the dread and 9 marines. Then I need to get back to work on my CSM. So much to do and so much nagging wife. lol Gonna try and get a game next weekend at my brothers house. Think I'll play my orks and whoop up on his space puppies. He still learning how to play so the games go slow and I win most the time but he is getting better. I think In a few more games he will pose more of a challange. We only play 1000pts cause thats all he can field at the moment but later we hope to have 2000pts games. Got a box of space puppies that I'm gonna paint up for him for his birthday in a few months. Well time for food and then finish up those terms when I get home.

Nice color scheme on your chapter! Everything looks nice and clean.

You need some highlighting though. Even just one player of extreme highlighting around the edges of the armor would take it to the next level.

Good work!

@Reecius: Thanks for the imput. I'm going to practice working on my highlighting on test pieces but right now I'm not at the point I want to be to do it on my SM. But once I get there I plan on doing it.

And as I said before here are the pics of the Boyz and of all my orks so far.

I plan on having 2 squads of 11 Boyz and a Nob in a Trukk. I have 22 Boys painted in the pics and more that enuff Nobz. I have the trukkz but I just need to build and paint them. Not sure if I want to usse the kits and make my own or just follow the assembly instructions. I also want to do either a squad of 11 or 19 'Ard Boyz in a Trukk or Battle Wagon and of course a Nob. I got 12 Bikez off on ebay for about 1/3 the price that I plan on adding in the future. I'm hoping to get a sizable Speed Freak Army and then use what ever I have left and do a Loota Army. Hoping by the end of it about 2000pts each.

I highly recommend customising your Trukks so that they don't all look the same. Extra work - but worth it in my opinion You can follow the instructions for one - just to get a feel for the kit - and then add a bit of imagination for the rest

Made in us
Growlin' Guntrukk Driver with Killacannon

@Arakasi: Yea, I think I might do one straight from the kit but the other I want to do alot more with. I also want to really modify the Trukk for my 'Ard Boyz. But I did take a look at some of the stuff you have done the one trukk that looks like its kreaning looks outstanding. You have done some beautiful comverting.

5 man term squad is just about done just have to base and highlight when I'm ready. All I have left is my dread and 8 marines and that part of the AOBR set is done. I found so bits in my bit box for a command squad so I'm gonna work on that next after the AOBR ones are done. But before that I want to start working on my CSM more. I want to at least get one squad finished up. Then move from there. So 'Ere we go.

Thanks! That was my "straight from the kit" one I'm sure you'll do well - there are plenty of other good examples around Dakka and da Net...

Well its been awhile since my last post. Have had alot of work stuff going on so have had little time to work on anything. Have an update on my SM and an idea to incorperate my ork and SM armies together. I'm not going for anything but table top quality so I thought it might be fun to add pieces from each of the armies to the other armies bases to show that they have had a history together in battle. I've started basing my Terms and am going to go back and add some SM bits to my Warboss and Nobs. Not gonna go crazy with the basing just gonna keep it simple. Been working on the rest of my first tac squad so when its finished I should have 500pts of SM painted and ready for table top and I have about 1000 pts of orks. Which 1000pts is what I play with most the time but once the group I play with build our forces up more we are hoping to have about 2000pts per army to pull from. We only have 4 players and whats funny is we are family. Myself: SM/Orks and later CSM, my brother in law: SM/Necrons, His 14 year old son: SM, and his 10 year old daughter: Orks. We did play some meat grinder games recently and everytime his kids played my niece won. Her brother was not a happy camper. Myself I won once and lost once with my orks against the necrons. Which brings up a question. I had a mob of 6 nobs with Power Klaws and assulted his Monolith. Power Klaws being str 8 and if I'm wrong please let me know str 10 when charging was able to score many penatrating hits on his monolith and took it out of action. Which we both thought kind of odd that they could take out such a heavily armored vehicle. So if I was right or wrong it would be nice to have some clearifacation. But enuff of that here are the new pics I have. The tac squad is not yet finished.

Im not sure if necron vehicles have any goofy rules other than the "lances dont work on them" one, but ya. PKs can easily wreck vehicles.

PKs double base strength, so they are strength 8 on nobz. Then add +1 strength for assaulting (as per furious charge) so that would leave them at strength 9.

Monoliths are armor 14 all around (i believe) so you would need 5s to glance and 6s to penetrate.
Bring in a bit of Mathhammer and with 4 strength 9 hits per nob, chances are you're very likely to do some damage.

As to the models, theyre looking good so far. The red though seems to need a bit more shading/highlighting, and maybe bring the studs of the Terminator sergeants loincloth out with gold or silver.

Its not all that impossible or odd to kill big vehicles with PK infantry. You just need to roll somewhat decent.
Heck my squad of PK nobz and warboss assaulted a Warlord Titan and managed 2 or 3 structure points, countless drive damaged, and almost all weapons torn off in one assault.

Good work all around!

I like the orange, but as someone else already said, the Marines will look a little better when you get a highlight on them. Good colour scheme though.

Now sure how I feel about the red skulls on the CSM. I liked the early pics with the brownish-tinged skulls, but that's just me. I do however love the damage on them, and you've done a good job on the yellow.

Go mean, green Orks!

The pic of the Gorkamorka style boy is an improvement over the earlier "flatter" boys. A little highlight goes a long way on Ork skin, it's so nicely textured.

As for the PK vs Monolith question: it's not weird that you took it out with so many high strength attacks, but you did do a bit too much damage to it. A charging PK Nob is only S9, not S10. You double your base strength from the klaw, but not the extra strength from charging. So your strength is double +1, not +1, then double.

edit: Damn! Ninjaed *shakes fist

@Hungryp/Ramos Asura: Thats what I thought also on the PKs but wasnt to sure. Thanks for the help.

About the highlights I plan to do those someday but no up to the task yet. But one day I will once I feel I wont screw them up. Tried it on a model but I didnt like how it truned out.
But I thank you for your comments and feed back and once I get more to post I will. I do have something though. Was kit bashing some bike models and came up with these. Found the idea on a website along time ago so I put my own spin on it. Not sure if I want to use them as Bikers or Deffkoptaz. But here they are.

Ok so I ws gonna work on my orks last night but got side tracked. Instead of working on my normal ork army I ended up working on a Bad Moon Boy.
The only this is I conat decide whether to make it a slugga or shoota boy. So here is what I've got so far so let me know what would better suit the
model.

Artsoldier35 I haven't got the ork you sent yet but it should be here in the next day or 2. Mine should be getting there Tuesday I hope. I mailed it out friday. Also I was just reading up on the Great Marine Swap blog, I just like to see what ideas people come up with for there chapters. Some really nice ones in there. An d it got me thinking. I've always enjoyed working on my ork army more than any other I have and since I just did a swap with Artsoldier35 if anyone is interested in swapping orks let me know. I can either do one in my army colors or your own if you would like. So I'm open for trade if anyone wants to.

SCHANK:
I got yours yesterday! It looks even better in person. Yes, this is a great idea and I almost have a complete 12 man squad. I too got the idea from the GMS thread. If you can get people on board with it it's a good way to get some unique models. Good luck and thanks for swapping with me.

OH-I Wanna get out of here

If you guys want, I can add you to the GMS along with Arakasi. I've been opening it up to more then just marines to keep it alive, and our beloved Dark Angelz kinda set the precedent for non-marines. Just post in the thread!

@whalemusic360: Cool I'll have to do that. I'll post on the tread for ork swaps. Thanks.

@Arakasi: Bah who cares if your slow. I've seen your work its work the wait.

@Artsoldier35: Nice. I'm glad you like it. I'm hoppin that yours gets here today.

So like I said before if anyone is wanting to trade in gonna post on the GMS on whalemusic360 thread. There are alot of fun and unique painters out there. And I would love to get a model painted by them. To the Great Marine Swap.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
@Arakasi: Did you want an ork from my clan or do you want me to paint one up to match yours or something completely differaint?

I was looking at the Forge World web site and they came out with a new Kommandoz upgrade pack. It look nice but after looking at all the picks it doesn't seem like it would be hard to duplicate with bitz I already have. The back pack seems easy enuff. With all the Big Shoota pack I have I can just trim them up and add some bitz. I'm not using burna boyz in my army as of yet so the heads from that should work well also. I can't find my blue tac so I'll have to get some from work. but here are the bitz I plan on using for my first attempt. I've done some work on the pack and am happy with it. And I don't think I'm going to paint it the same as the rest of my army. Gonna use the Blood Axe colors I think and just use them as hired orks. Still have some mold lines to shave and some clean up on the bitz but I hope to have an assembled pic up by the end of the day when I get off work to give a better idea of what it will look like.

Here is the mob I've been working on for GorkaMorka. Almost 4 strong. Still need to do about 6 more and some vehicles. Figure I could use it for Necromunda also using the Goliath rules or see if I can find ork rules for it. But this is what I have so far. A boss and 3 gangers. Those arnt the bases they will be going on just blue tacked to them right now. Working on the bases still. Painted them so I could use them in my ork army also. Just more detailed then the rest of them. Still a WIP.
