Say what you will, but in previous threads beyond count such as this one the nearly uniform consensus was, and I'm quoting here, "please be assured Dakka Dakka does not in any way condone recasting of any sort, what so ever".

It would appear that what should have been said was "please be assured Dakka Dakka does not in any way condone recasting of any sort, what so ever, unless it's awesome or useful enough."

Take it up with GW? Or go to the creator herself?

Perhaps we should allow GW to protect their own IP. I get tired of fans who believe that they are weekend patent lawyers for GW.

And there is no proof that this is a recast. It's also, as previously mentioned, not harming GW's market share. Rest assured Brother Ouze, GW's team of paratrooping paralegal stormtroopers will descend upon the manufacturer's place of locale and most righteously and judiciously strike down the offending heretic with the most pure and awesome of weapons in their arsenal, the holy C&D order, should it be deemed necessary by the IPquisition. There's enough of them that they don't need you carrying the banner for them.

It's less about GWS and more about the hypocrisy on here on Dakka, but hey whatever makes for a better strawman right?

I think perhaps there is a subtilty here that you're not getting. This is probably our bad, and I will try to explain it more clearly, through the use of examples:

Example 1 (Bad) - "Hay guys i wanted to know how to make mariens and sell them on ebay."

Example 2 (Good) - "I made these polyhedral objects compatible with the GW Fire Prism, except mine are COLORED! How cool is that?"

We still don't know it was casted from the GW parts, it's not hurting GW's bottom line (if anything, it's augmenting it), and I don't see how it's any different than me slathering the inside of one of the ones straight out of the box with Yellow Ink and selling it like that.

Ouze wrote:And even if she did sculpt them, sculpting something that looks "remarkably" like someone else's IP and selling them for profit is still likely to land you in trouble, I think, depending on how faithful the copy. For example, how long would I be able to successfully sell my T-shirts of "Mikey Mouse" that look remarkably like Mickey Mouse?

There is a rather large difference between producing something that looks like Mickey Mouse, or like a Space Marine powerfist, and a generic polygonal shape.

Given the downward trend of this thread so far, I think we should leave it here.
