Heh this reminds me that Fantasy players think the exact OPPOSITE!

"Wtf, ANOTHER Space Marine codex? Come on GW Ogres are still suffering bad"

"Man can you believe this, too many 40k players at my store. GW just loves them dont they"

"Oh look, another extra ruleset for them. Didnt Battle Missions just came out?"

Not that I agree with that but Fantasy centric players think that GW loves 40k these days a lot more than the original game. The age demographic doesnt help

Except it is true. There's been more 40k love than Fantasy for quite awhile. There still hasn't been a proper follow-up to Warhammer Fantasy's "Skirmish" rules set...when there's been Apocalypse, Battle Missions, Planetstrike, Cities of Death...

Need I go on?

Some say the less GW touches something, the better it is! (well it sure has worked out for necromunda and mordheim)

I have no interest in WHFB.

I expect there are plenty of people who play WHFB and have no interest in 40K.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Inquisitor would have been awesome if it were wh40k scale, the conversion possibilities would be endless. Instead you had to buy one huge hunk of metal with basically no options for customizing your own character. Not to mention making all-new terrain just to play a battle. Too much of a pain to be worth it imo.

I dunno, I found both of those to be awkward and clunky to play.
Still, each to their own.

In the Webway.

I actually think that it should be fantasy players moaning about 40k, not the other way round. The only reason why fantasy is the main focus is because of the new rules and the new boxed set, it will be like this for 40k when the next 40k edition and boxed set is released.

I think GW likes 40k more, tbh, which is a shame because it was WHFB that got them going. I also wish there were more fantasy players at my store.

What I don't get is why people want to play WFB when WOTR is available. Better gameplay, better rules, better fantasy world. What the dilly?

Most LoTR models are all one piece Get's really lame after a while. Not to mention they take way to long to paint for how many you actually need to play. Just a general waste of time. I do like the mumak Though!

Tau aren't in Fantasy, so I don't care about it.

Seriously, WHFB doesn't interest me, so I'm also getting kinda sick of all the attention to fantasy. If if it wasn't Fantasy, it'd be Space Marines, Orks, Guard, or Daemons (seriously, WTF? Daemons? Really? Did people finally start buying them or something?).

Three things:

1. I agree with you insofar as I don't really care about Fantasy and want more content for 40K.
2. However, their new starter set just came out, and 'What's New Today' is becoming more and more a tool for selling products than an actual Hobby Blog, so it makes sense that they're pushing Fantasy at the moment.
2. However however, if GW used White Dwarf as a hobby magazine rather than a glossy over-priced catalogue, some of these issues could be mitigated. A number of the recent Warhammer 8th Ed articles (especially Jervis' series on the key changes) should have been in WD before 8th Ed was released. Had those been in WD, making WD into a useful magazine, then there would be more time to devote your hobby ezine to things other than 8th.

kenshin620 wrote:"Wtf, ANOTHER Space Marine codex? Come on GW Ogres are still suffering bad"

Anyone who says that with any level of seriousness isn't very intelligent. If it wasn't a Marine Codex in that slot, it'd still be a 40K Codex. The two are not interchangeable.

I don't mind the fantasy updates, even though I play 40k (although I collect Lizardmen because they look awesome). I think they need some love too, 40k isn't all games-workshop has. I remember before I got interested in 40k I was going to play fantasy and I was constantly annoyed with updates and articles in white dwarf on this weird future version.

I used to feel the same, ever since I quit fantasy back in the late 90s.

I saw the new plastic models in person today, though, and ended up splitting three boxes with some guys that wanted High Elves. Now I have a nice little pile of rats to get me started.

I haven't read all the rules yet, but the game seems very interesting so far. Certainly more tactically involved than 40K (although I still like 40K more if only for the IP).

Right there with you my brother!

I agree with you Samus. I don't give a Skaven's ass about Fantasy. I find it interesting that even GW has admitted that 40K is more popular, yet they ALL seem to fawn over Fantasy as if it were the end all of games. Personally, I cannot justify the expense (Several years ago when Wood Elves came out the store owner and I sat down and added up a 2000 point army. It was between 1100 and 1200 dollars; back then!) of building an army for a game that essentially breaks down into a chess match. E.G. We maneuver around until he who charges wins. None for me thanks, I'm shooting!

40K pronunciation guide. Abaddon = [uh - BAD -done], Belial = [bee - LEEL] (I promise), and chimera = [KY - murr - uh]

In all honesty. I like 40k more. The tournament crowd boasts fantasy is the better game. But I beg to differ. It's OK and by all means I'll get my dwarves to 1k and all that. But 40k is the better game. SPACE MAHRENS AND MULTILAZORS FOR LIFE!!!

I find all fantasy games( WFB, WoW, DnD) all the same sort of thing. That's why i love 40k because it just proves that you can never have too much grimdark in one place
Also due to the badassiness of the SEPSS MEHRENS and the hope that humanity could do this in the far, far future
