It's only put in the Crux of a Terminator CAPTAIN, not every Terminator.

It was by his order that the armour be broken up... Because he was impressed by the valour shown by the Terminators assisting him from three different chapters as he boarded Horus' ship.

I agree a company captain must have at least done every job in his company to become a captain unless of course his company doesn't have terminators in the ranks

no, no it's not about them going renegade, if say for some reason one of the termies got beaten by the forces chaos/daemons and they would steal the armor with the crux this wouldn't be good right?
as for why others still get their crux , it is probably because of the seldom contact made with daemons,and more variety on the enemy

All Captains are part of the 1st company. But they are not counted in the 100 Veterans. Captains like wearing power armor to feel closer to their troops.
In my chapter they all wear Artificer Armor. As each suit is passed down captain to captain. And their company is nicknamed according to what they specialize in.

It varies chapter to chapter. But most captains wear Power Armor. Plus they have replacements if a Captain dies. There is way more than just 10 captains in a chapter.
It is very rare for any chapter just to have 20 terminators. If they possess anything more than 50 it means their chapter is either HUGE, or is very old.

Ok the save does NOT come from the crux,nor the piece of armor the emperor wore when he battled horus,terminator armor is THAT strong,it takes power swords to pierce it (if that)it resists walls of shells and lasers and flak and ungodly high caliber weapons in the 40k universe,it is almost impossible to make new suits of termie armor.only the best of the space marines are allowed to use terimie armor,and only in certain battles.That piece is sort of a relic,a reminder,yo know,to boost morale or to make the terminator think it brings luck.

No. Terminator and Space Marine armor is being made but not at peak capacity. If they were not being produced terminator Armor would of gone extinct A LONG TIME AGO.

I had that same agruement about 40k Machinery a while ago. Its not like they don't make it. Its just they don't know how to make it.

the concept probably goes differently, there are people who says that the gene base for GK is from the Emprah himself, so in other word, they don't need the crux because they are already carrying a piece of their emperor inside their own body, something around that line

I think the best way to put armour-manufacturing in 40k into perspective (but I can't back it up with any real fluff) is to imagine that, if the forgeworlds capable of producing Terminator armour through automation are dwindling, then the most common method left is if master artificers work on the suits: They'd have been trained for a lifetime and the suit they produce would likely be a life's work... the armour is so complex that it would take forever to not only manufacture, but would also likely have to be based on remnants of previous suits or a mish-mash. If you read armour descriptions in Dawn of War or even in the Ultramarines Omnibus, a lot of stuff is just salvaged from pieces of older armour. Thus though it is possible to make new Termie suits I think they tend to be, in part, based on older examples and take a lifetime of dedicated craftsmanship from a single artisan.

So whilst they are not in danger of leaving circulation, the passed-down information about their construction is so cryptic, the methods so primitive and the kit-bashing so time-consuming that Terminator armour has to be treated as a sacred relic simply to keep it economical.

I'm sorry but Relic Lore is very unreilable as well as C.S Goto lore. As it is so wrong. So so wrong.
Its true.... But I've already had this agruement. Termiantor armor is very rare only because of STC machines. It is not dwinidling its just hard as hell to make. As the STC machine only pumps out so many at a time.

Goto is a load and a half of stench beast crap imo and marine Armour is produced by a artificers a word i cant spell in the chapter's armory correct me if i am wrong but i think its mentioned in every codex except the SW codex....

I'm pretty sure Terminators get a 5+ invulnerable save because, ya' know, they're fething Terminators? You know; the dudes who can pretty much stand in a plasma reactor and brush it off like nothing?

Fluff wise, at least.

The Crux Terminatus doesn't give them their invulnerable save. Come on people, it's because they're wearing freaking Tactical Dreadnought Armor.

Also, only Captains have the armor fragments in their Crux, I'm pretty sure.

We all know how it works with GW, guys.

New fluff > old fluff

Which is pretty sad to say.


And Ash, don't bash Relic. They make great games and they've actually got round to making some games that are getting somewhere along the lines of "fluff-correctness".


Anyway, this thread is turning into a discussion about how Terminator armour is created, and no doubt will soon turn into a discussion about relic, amongst other things. Because, honestly, what can be said that's not been said?

All Crux's have 'em.
Only Terminator Captains have 'em.
The Crux's provide no save./TDA is just that awesome.
The Crux's do provide a save.
