Too true.
I think Red and white are so good together, rather than red+black

That sceme is ok, but I hate armies with different boot colors than the legs.

I like this maybe use white on the top half of the legs just to add a little more contrast ?

but to tell you the truth, i tried as hell to get the black out of the scheme but he was iron on that^^. the white and red is far better, looks more aristocratic and thats what i picture a true sm codex army like...

They will be robed, so you will probably only see their arms anyway. (other than the ones with open robe bottoms)
The reason I am doing it on the normal painter, and not the one and adding the robe, is because i may paint up a few normal marines in this scheme if I have some extra. (my main army is BA)
Anyone have a good idea for a robe color?

Well as for the robes it depends if you want to contrast or to blend in more with the armour colour. Obviously black and white contrast well with red but I would consider a dark green to oppose the red or possibly brown but that might just blend in too much with the red.

I like the one white arm, you could come up with some fluffy reason why they do that like how the deathwing paint their armour bone white because of a legend...but I would consider using a golden helmet like BA vets..

Hmm, that one scheme that was posted looks good minus a few things.

I did really like the one white arm, because it stands out and is cool.
Vets will have something special, maybe a gold helmet. I don't know.

^ Hmm, with robes on, that one will probably look the best, anyway.

I'm thinking light brown, or blue. I don't know, but I don't want to use black. maybe bleached bone, or snake bite leather.

I kinda like this one. It would be a huge pain to paint, but would probably look great with a whole squad of them together.

Perhaps a very muted green for the robes? Almost like a brown or yellowish green.

Nothing currently, got out of the hobby, maybe getting back in?

Interestingly enough my sons SM army is painted in almost the exact same color scheme, with the exception of white shoulder pads.

I like this as well, and it wouldn't be that difficult to paint up,simply prime the minis white and add the reds, washes and details.

Idk, the frist ones reminds of Emperors pointy sticks for some reason, then the ones with the black reminds me of the flesh tearers.... try Quartering red and whilte( with a solid helmet, and give the eagle a silver or gold color, backpack soild color too like black or dark grey?

However, I gave up on both schemes because I started my orks, so I may go back and paint a test model for these colors.

You probably know this but if you go on bolter and chainsword SM painter V5.0 (or something like that) you can add robes to the SM as wargear (just make sure your colour scheme is completely finished because you cannot go back from the wargear scheme)

If you do decide to do some test models i think the idea of quartered colors with a solid helmet would look pretty good.
