Aside from the giant Fist, I do not like the Character pack, except possibly for Iron Hands. Even then, I'm not entirely sold on them, especially in conjunction with the FW PH bodies.
The Runtbot isn't bad, but he's contorted onto too small of a base, so doesn't look good.
The transfers are nice, of course.

I honestly get the feeling that the character pack is, in fact, intended for Iron Hands.
Considering the Iron Hands were involved in the Badab War early on, and a few other choice details...they seem like they'd get at least something seeing as how they've got large portions of their troops bionically enhanced.
But yes, I'm not so sure what's going on with the ones they showed. Maybe it's the combination of plastic chestplates with the resin legs and arms that throw it off?

It's more of a set that adds character than a Character set, or a Vanguard/Assault Veteran set.
I like the components though.
I haven't touched my new MkV, MkVI, or Red Scorpion Vets yet so I can't speak to the size oddness going on there.

Not a fan of the conversion kit, and none of the rest is useful to me. However, a friend of mine doing freehand Blood Raven icons might like the transfer sheet.

I think they were going for the old-school cylindrical plasma pistol look. I had the chance, and passed it up, to pick up some old early 90's stuff, and the plasma pistol looked a lot like that.

I realize you're somewhat new here, but try not to let yourself spiral out of control, heading down the negative path of Marine Hate.
There's enough of that already - more is not needed.

I agree that this is more of a bionics set than a character upgrade set with retro small arms and other weapons thrown in, which does seem a bit random. It's as if they had planned a bionics set and a weapons set, but deemed them both too small to sell as two seperate sets, so they combined them. I like it, more or less. More decals and etchings is always a good thing, I may bite on the Iron Hand etchings, once we see what they look like. Since the character set has all the bionic upgrades, this may mean we will not see Iron Hand specific sets down the road. Oh well, beggars can't be choosers.

I'm getting them for my Cadians, without a doubt. So much better than the standard decals for Cadians.
I am simply overjoyed that we've finally got decals that state "ELYSIA" for starters, which was something I missed for a long time now. Campaign badges and even more decals for aircraft is a big pro as well though. I'm going to enjoy putting the badges on chest pieces, helmets and knee pads.

Thats some serious scaling issues or bad camera angles
Doesnt FW make kits that are closer to true scale?

Actually, FW does make their stuff closer to true scale.
It's why their Imperial Guard look so scrawny compared to the plastics.

My heart lept when I saw the word Elysian in the newsletter. I thought we were getting new models but I suppose transfer sheets will do.

Again, insert Jes Goodwin line about GW Marines being true scale and the rest of the sculptors not being able to adhere to the scaling system he originated.

Talk about splitting hairs!
OK - NO, FW does not make their MARINES True Scale.
Sadly, as noted, GW doesn't make ANYTHING to 'proper' scale, so if you want it for Marines, you're left to do it yourself...

Are we talking the oversized ridiculousness of some of the "true scale" Marines?
Because as mentioned, Forge World's stuff is more "true scale" in that there's not oversized weaponry or body parts.

Again, Forgeworld's 'humans' are nicely scaled figures.
Awesome - if we could somehow turn back the clock and have GW play along, fantastic!
I've seen plenty on non-ridiculous 'true scale' Marines, and these work quite well with GW's 'regular' line of ridiculously scaled miniatures.
Most True Scale Marines use the same size weaponry, and it looks... great!
