I forgot to add in above, current weight is 3 lbs 14oz, so I think I will be able to keep it under 5 lbs completed.
Anyone know what the resin warhounds run around for weight?

that looks so cool and frightening at the same time. wouldn´t want to be on the wrong side of that little moster.. if you now add just some of these airsoftguns then you could blast enemy models for real^^ too. or if that fails just stomp them into oblivion^^
great craft man.

Wow! My first thought would be 'Don't paint it!'. Seems a shame to let all that authentic metal get hidden under a paintjob.
How much (if any) are you planning on leaving nekkid?
To echo others ... superb work! If this one's a learning curve, your next should be truly epic.

Thanks
I keep going back and forth on the paint thing, the weapons I am going to leave unpainted. I can't decide on full paint, or leave bare metal and just do trim and detailing.
Any opinions are welcomed.
Re: airsoft, that would be cool but a lot of work and the others I game with might get a bit pissed as there are some amazing painters and I don't think they would appreciate me shooting their figs.

The good thing with it being a metal model - you can strip paint off it using pretty much anything and not hurt the model, so even if you paint it and decide that you prefer the bare metal you are OK

Trying to decide on paint scheme. Anyone know if any good source material for Legio paint schemes.
These are all I know at present:
Mortaris(C) - Red and black
Tempestus(L) - Blue and gold
Any input welcomed.

Side view of same (backward lean is pissing me off, but would have to almost destroy one leg to correct. I'll improve on this in the next one)

although i truly love your work and you have done a tremendous job i have to add a minor critique:
the pose of your warhound looks strange... it looks like it would fall over backwards any moment.
don´t get me wrong if you alter the pose, you achived true godliness with your model. and also your model will be a hereditary piece...cuase it will withstand about anything thats smaller than a nuke^^
again great work, vik

I agree that the backward lean is goofy looking. The model is very stable (I assume due to weight) but I don't like the look from the side. I have looked and thought for hours, trying to figure out how to correct the pose. Unfortunately do to the welded joints. I would have to cut one leg off and rebuild a new one (which I may do eventually). Otherwise, to break or cut the welds would totally demolish the leg.
I appreciate the comments and critiques, please continue.
And thank you.

hmmm i thought it would be complicated to correct/adjust the pose...
may i make a suggestion? would it be possible to make the hipjoints for your next warhound to be movable?
there are some lego joints (jep i do mean lego)
http://cgi.ebay.de/Lego-Raster-Gelenk-Stein-2x2-2x3-neuhellgrau-4-St-/330336754441?pt=DE_Allesf%C3%BCrdKind_Spielzeug_Lego&hash=item4ce99adb09
would that technique be convertable to steel?
that would give you the option to make it movable and stil make it strong enough to hold a pose to play a game...
love your project and will stick to your developments to the very end^^
cheers, vik

The rearward lean is the only blight on an otherwise awesome looking build.
Despite what any naysayers will say, a good oxy/acetylene weld is a thing of beauty.
I greatly prefer gas and TIG welding to any other method simply due to how freaking beautiful they look when you are done.

Thanks for the suggestion and link. I have considered something similar for the next one. Basically instead of a single pipe piece at each of the joints, cut the piece in half (2 shorter pipe pieces) with a bolt through that can be tightened up to set its position. Then attach one half to the upper leg section and one to the lower. Then I just have to figure out what to do with all the toes.......

jep, if you make it repositionable then the toes will give you a hard nut to crack.
so in short when you make a new one we can expect to see a fully movable one?
then it might be a chance to even add a walking mechanism to make it walk on its on^^...
cheers mate, creativity is such a wonderful plague sometimes, isn´t it?^^

Sorry for the absence, been a while. Here are the latest updates.
Mostly completed the canopy for the cockpit. The brass piece on top is trim for the shoulder edging, still trying to decide if I like the width of it or not, it is almost looking too wide to me. Have to find some thinner brass stock. Opinions?

I have to say that is truley amazing. I am just starting 40k so most certainly too soon to start looking at titans but I must say that you have inspired me to try something similar down the road.
Also i noticed a lot of issues with the toes. What if you made them movable as well. Maybe by welding a small rod through the tow and the creating a clamp like loop that allows you to position the toes as needed. Doing such would also add a truly immense amount of posability for the hinged styled legs.

My first titan what part of a deal that I bought a LOT of CSM from a fellow gamer and the titan came in the deal. Well, that got me thinking, I have a hard time just having one of something, I need more. So jumped online, found some templates and was going to build from chip board and foam core. Then I made a wise ass remark about making one from steel......
After I get this one done, and build its twin, its on to building (or at least trying to build) an Eldar Phantom (foam on this one, my metal working skills/tools aren't up to that one). Still trying to come up with a good outer coating for the foam for protection and that smooth wraithbone look.......Any suggestions (preferrably spray or paint on) from the modelers out there?

Thanks. If I did a good prime coat I don't think it would be a problem, but I am going to just leave it black steel, add brass trim work, then just clear coat it to keep it that color rather than picking up rust and fingerprints. As far as weight, it is still under 4 pounds, still less than resin (I think).

I like the shin idea, unfortunately no room left after the arrows. Had a friend suggest the name on a banner hanging down in between the legs or off of a weapon. Gonna try the between option (kinda like a loin cloth with its name at the top), and see how it looks.
And thanks for all the comments, suggestions, compliments and encouragement, it is all very appreciated.
