I love the idea but I have to say that I'm cringing at the thought of classic Genestealers (specifically the ones you have already painted) getting chopped up. I have a soft spot for the Genestealer Cult and haven't seen a classic paintjob on 'Stealers in quite a while.

Nice, that reminds me, back in an old 80's white dwarf there was a conversion of a genestealer-bloodletter hybrid!

Well, I haven't cut up any of the painted ones...yet. However if you would like to "save" some of them, I could probably be convinced to part with some of them!

I haven't gotten a White Dwarf issue in YEARS! That would be something to see though!

I will try and find that white dwarf, although I may not be able to find the right one out of my 100!

That's a pretty neat idea, converting 'stealers into Bloodletters.

Excellent GS work there. Looking forwards to seeing more of them.

Thanks everyone for the encouragement! I'll need it! I have a lot of work left to do!
My to do list for the Genestealers is:

Make 4 squads of 8 Bloodletters.
2 squads of 8 Bloodcrushers (my 'Letters will be riding scratch-built Juggernaughts...hopefully)
1 Skulltaker - Herald of Khorne
1 Standard Herald of Khorne
1 squad of 8 Horrors (for these I plan on modelling them to have Khorne markings and pretty much look like Bloodletters but with large gaping mouths for shooting flame and call them "Blood Horrors")
1 squad of 8 Flamers (similar concept as the Horrors, looking like 'Letters but with large "shooty" looking arms, and call them Flamers of Khorne. I'll have to write up some fluff to make it work, so we'll see.)

I know this equalls more than the 60 Genestealers that I have, and I know it's a big project (understatement), but that is my plan of the day, I might change my mind by tomorrow!

Well, I finally got around to putting some paint on my first Bloodletter! It's still a WIP, but let me know what you think, any tips, tricks or comments? Keep in mind this is my first start-to-finish paint job in like 10 years or more! It's definately easier to see areas I need to pay more attention to when I'm sculpting...hopefully the next ones will be better.

Wow, they looked good unpainted, but that painted one looks awesome! Just shows what a bit of greenstuff and effort can do.

I don't know if it is me or what, but the red seems to be a tad flat. It might could use some highlighting. Just a thought.

Highlighting! I knew I was forgetting something! Thanks, it's been a while.

Thanks for the comments all, if anything else looks a bit off, let me know. I need the help!

Looks alot better painted but if i'm honest he still looks a little steroidal. I think wiry musculature would look alot better. It's pretty easy to sculpt, and judging from your displayed skills i think that should be easily doable for you.

Yeah, that has been said a few times, and I do agree, and I am going to thin down my future sculpts, but the Big guy will be my model of the 'Letter with Fury in my Daemons army. So I think that will work out, I don't know if I'll go quite that muscular for future models with Fury, but we'll see. It's difficult to give them defined muscles withour making them big, but I'll keep practicing, Even my second one with the Icon is a bit bulky, but I think I'm getting there! And thank you very much for your honesty! It helps alot! If no one had said anything, my second and future 'Letters would probably be just as big, and I would be going through the Green Stuff pretty fast!

I like this, I've been trying to convert the other way, Bloodletters to Genestealer Hybrids, with minimal success, so I chose to scratch build for the ! most part. Looks like you did a better job than me

Looks really amazing, wish I could sculpt like that. You could try and model the horn-blower to hold the trumpet with his tongue? Just an idea.

Wow, it's been a while since I updated this thread! Sorry about that, but other projects and life have kept me busy.
I got some basing done, just need to finish that, and I put some highlights on the raised areas of the Bloodletter, but for some reason, the camera seemed to have washed them out so you can hardly see where the highlights are. (I blame the camera, cause it can't be me right?!?)

So, brutal honesty! Let me have it! How does it look?

Thanks for looking,

Jake

I really like that look! I was thinking of getting some stealers to convert into d'n'd "carnage demons" (nasty muscley red demons with four arms) and this blog is definitely a pointer to the fact that it can be done!

Well, thanks for the comments all, it was a pretty ambitious project, and I really doubt that I will be able to convert all 60 of these little buggers, so maybe CT GAMER has a good idea there, and I might try to sell all but 8 (I need at least one full squad so it doesn't look wierd!) I'll put them up on ebay, and if they don't sell, then it's a sign! And then I will cut up the remaining ones! Muahahahahahahahaha! ... Ahem! Sorry about that!

At any rate, can I post a link here to ebay auctions? Or is that a no-no?

Thanks again all! by the way! I have already started on the Horn Bearer! I'll get some WIP pics up of him soon!

I really like what you've done. I can't give any advice as I've never done anything like this but I think it looks great, especially with some paint. My fav part is oddly enough the feet on your first one.

Nice work I like the big beefy one as an almost ork-like boss letter'!

You could always talk to Waaghlord.. you guys could just swap or something. Or put a chuck of them up in the swap shop forum. Failing that yeah, ebay would be the go. Lot's of people have a hankering for older models.

Go more wiry on the remaining 6, don't go so big on the bi's and shoulders and it keep the rest like your second one. They should look mint! Oh also.. I think the standard bearer looks better with the original long chain and the icon hanging.. it added something really fresh to the standard bearer design. Also where are them darn skulls you promised us at?
