Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it. |

I've always heard and said lazcannon. Short a.
I used to say tai-ranid, until I heard it called teer-anid, which I've been using since. I believe I heard that from an online video, not a local though.
West coast, btw. (Tai-ra-no-saur-us)

I have always called it a Laz-Cannon, but I can see why some might call it a Chips-Cannon. As for Chimera, I have always pronounced it the correct way, Kim-Air-Ah, like the Greek word is supposed to bloody be said. Next you'll be telling me people call Flamers Flam-erz rather than Flame-erz.

Short-a lazcannon, although I do have a friend who plays IG and calls them all laze-guns/cannons.
Tir-Ə-nids, kƏ-mare-Əs.
Grew up in, let's see- California, Ohio, Washington (state), Alabama, Virginia, Florida, Indiana. I'd say Tie-ranno- is the exception to the rule. Not unheard of, but not hugely common either. TƏ-rannƏ-saurus being much more common. But maybe that's just the midwest taking over my brain. Or I only know people who speak incredibly lazily.

Actually, the greek word is pronounced "khee-MAI-ra". So...
Plus, how do you pronounce the word "chariot"?

Shush, I suck at this.
I am sure I say a lot of things wrong, but I know it wasn't said K(eye)-mare-ah.
And I probably say Chariot wrong too. The french knowledge in me wants to say Sh-agh-ee-oh but I say it Cha-ree- ott in English. >.<

lol. "stupida anglays! get off mon sharioh!"
I took ancient greek in college, and that actually screws me up with english words based on greek some times. For example, the greek letter "y" was pronounced like the english letter "u". Then some british people came by and screwed it up and now we pronounce words like "gAInocology" or "tAIphus", when those words originally had "u" sounds.
Given that it's a crap-shoot with loanwords anyways, I feel little remorse for pronouncing chimera "chim-air-ah". If people want to be a stickler, it's the pot calling the kettle black unless they use the ACTUAL ORIGINAL word.

ok I us a short a
but all this talk about the t-rex messes me up...
when talking about pronouncing words, it's hard to actually type it in. Because when reading things, people have a different sound in their head
so this is my best rendition of how i pronounce t-rex
T REX
XD
the sound t (like ti) ranno saur us rex
but for 'nids
it's TIER a nids....
are we gonna argue chaos god names next?
