I wouldn't credit it because they never said the world would end in 2012. That's just when that particular calendar ends, and then they'd start a new calendar.

Yeah, thing is if anyone else had mistaken South Korea and North Korea, we'd all just have a laugh and move on. But with Palin, while it was probably just a bit of a goof, we can't really be certain...

It's no worse than gaffs our current PotUS and VP have made.
Obama made reference to the wrong amount of US States FFS.
At least Palin's gaff was about a foreign nation and not her own.
I admit though that I hope the Reps can come up with someone better by 2012. Although we might not need to the way the way the BO is rolling, I'd still like to see it.

People are generally eager to attack fateweaver because when he makes accusations concerning the topic at hand (surprisingly rare, his posts generally don't get past presidential bashing) they tend to devolve into conspiratorial rants that are loaded to the bursting point with things that simply aren't true. Sebby can't be expected to run down hyperlogical fact finding trails to attempt to debate unreality, it's like arguing with a TV.

I mean take Bush, for example. Dude had a habit of laughable malpropisms, but at least you could understand what he'd meant and hence mock him for mangling it.
Similarly, quitting the Governorship of Alaska before she could get kicked could be seen as smart, if one is inclined to imagine she prefers to put her own welfare before that of her constituents...
David Frum is right to warn Republicans against her and her ilk from over-running their party, and diluting its intelligence and vision.
I'm not a fan of Palin or Frum, Frum's champion is McCain. The guy thinks the Republican's strategy should be to "out Democrat the Democrats".
I don't think she should run, she's not polished enough (i.e. too "real" for most), but we did elect a charismatic demagogue so what's the difference?

Is it a personal attack? I mean, many of your posts on this site are completely ridiculous, and there’s few posters who’d argue otherwise. If most of the posts made are ridiculous, how else might we honestly describe a person?
Is it a personal attack for you to claim you’re above me?
As Frazz would say, talk gak about your own people running YOUR country.
Start a thread on it and I’ll be happy to talk about the poor handling of the NBN or some other matter. To the extent that you can make sensible comments on the issue, I'd like to hear them.
Speaking of which, so nice of Australia to say we can have a man who SHOULD die by injection on the merits we only lock him away for a little bit.
As a country opposed to the death penalty, we won’t release a man to die in another country. I understand that you really and some of your compatriots really want to kill people, and so I’m sorry we can’t help you in that, but we simply can’t.

There is no point pretending it isn’t true. The guy makes utterly ridiculous comments, frequently.
Monster Rain wrote:At least let it get to that point then.
It’s been done, a lot. The guy doesn’t care for sense or reason, so why bother? Best thing is to just read, have a giggle and move on. No point getting angry because the guy isn’t trolling, he just believes things that are absurd.

As Shuma pointed out, this was already mentioned, and several people have acknowledged lots of politicians and public figures make gaffes. What makes this a little different is that given her efforts on foreign policy at other times, we just can't be certain she really knows which Korea is which.

Let's not and just pretend we did.
The thread seems to have taken something of a swerve to a tired old exchange of insults we've all seen/read far too many times before, appears it might be correcting itself, so let's see what happens.
Whilst I think it fair to say there a lot of people have issues with some of the ideas the lady in question has, this really is nothing more than a slip of the tongue. It's quite clear from the rest of what she said she is, ultimately , aware of which Korea is on "our side". Sure it's worth a chuckle perhaps but it's nothing to get too worked up over really is it ? If her entire conversation had shown a complete lack of understanding of the difference then it would of course be more.... interesting.
I thought he comments about pot a few months back were perhaps the most sensible thing with regards to the subject I've heard from a mainstream politician for..well.... pretty much ever.

Looks like she's at it again... on her facebook page
My fellow Americans in all 57 states, the time has changed for come. With our country founded more than 20 centuries ago, we have much to celebrate – from the FBI’s 100 days to the reforms that bring greater inefficiencies to our health care system. We know that countries like Europe are willing to stand with us in our fight to halt the rise of privacy, and Israel is a strong friend of Israel’s. And let’s face it, everybody knows that it makes no sense that you send a kid to the emergency room for a treatable illness like asthma and they end up taking up a hospital bed. It costs, when, if you, they just gave, you gave them treatment early, and they got some treatment, and ah, a breathalyzer, or an inhalator. I mean, not a breathalyzer, ah, I don’t know what the term is in Austrian for that…
She then goes on to explain
Of course, the paragraph above is based on a series of misstatements and verbal gaffes made by Barack Obama (I didn’t have enough time to do one for Joe Biden). YouTube links are provided just in case you doubt the accuracy of these all too human slips-of-the-tongue. If you can’t remember hearing about them, that’s because for the most part the media didn’t consider them newsworthy. I have no complaint about that. Everybody makes the occasional verbal gaffe – even news anchors.
Obviously, I would have been even more impressed if the media showed some consistency on this issue. Unfortunately, it seems they couldn’t resist the temptation to turn a simple one word slip-of-the-tongue of mine into a major political headline. The one word slip occurred yesterday during one of my seven back-to-back interviews wherein I was privileged to speak to the American public about the important, world-changing issues before us.
If the media had bothered to actually listen to all of my remarks on Glenn Beck’s radio show, they would have noticed that I refer to South Korea as our ally throughout, that I corrected myself seconds after my slip-of-the-tongue, and that I made it abundantly clear that pressure should be put on China to restrict energy exports to the North Korean regime. The media could even have done due diligence and checked my previous statements on the subject, which have always been consistent, and in fact even ahead of the curve. But why let the facts get in the way of a good story?
the leftie media sure do a good job of not making Obamo out to be a bumbler. turn his autocue off and he has no idea what is going on.
