Looks like she's goofed What do you make of it Dakka? Innocent slip, or a worrying sign? Me, I think a bit of both, but it's not like I can vote for or against the mad old nightmare, so meh!

Better than Obama. Yes, I said it.
I'd vote for her.

I think trolling would be the right term. At least Bush wasn't as dumb as he appeared. Intellectually incurious and incompetent, but he knew the score. Which, incidentally is hilarious if you read reports of his own opinion on Palin...

So I'm trolling if I say I'd vote for Palin?
Of course Nurglitch, you being the king of trolls, I guess you'd know a troll when you saw one.
Maybe I'd vote for her, maybe I wouldn't. So she made a human error. Glad all dakkaites, specially our friends across the pond, are so perfect as to never make mistakes.
America made One Big Ass Mistake electing Obama. To a great many people who don't vote for her they'd feel the same if she got elected.
Although I hope Palin won't spend as much time fishing in Alaska as Obama does playing golf. I think even Tiger Woods plays less golf than Obama.

Some of us are a tad worried that US leaders have such a poor record when it comes to geography.
Something to do with them having fingers on certain buttons!
North Korea, South Korea.
North Ireland, South Ireland
What's the difference.

Cmon guys, Im sure it was an honest slip. You know afterwards she did the "of christ, WHY was it that one?" Im not a fan of hers what so ever, and the thought of her actually running for Pres makes me smile. Smile the same way I smile when my son does something stupid and reminds me of being a kid. Yes, exactly the same way
BUT I still think that was a goof. Im sure she was thinking about EVERYTHING she was going to talk about and it just gummed up, happens to everyone

I think having a great knowledge of the world is certainly something that should be looked for in a leader. However the first thing should be how much they will do for their own country, and whether they are representative of their nations desires. Afterall, what we think of US politicians isn't really important now is it. Not defending or slating Palin here, just textually vomitting mind juice.

That's my idea of foreign policy. Of course I'm sure most leftists would love to see certain AZ officials quartered and hung for doing the federal governments job for them but thank God the Constitution allows states the right to do those things.
Of course, Mr. Eloquence, who has people write his speeches for him (damn would I love that job...being overpaid with taxpayer money to write a 40 page speech for the Man himself) never makes gaffes due to probably a dozen men/women bulletproofing everything he says and proofreading his speeches with a fine toothed comb.
Nice of people to jump all over someone for a simple gaffe.

It is only one gaffe, but it's the latest in a string of them IIRC. They're all only 1 little mistake, but together they make one huge mistake.
The possibility that she could have power over the USA worries me. You really can't afford to don't avoid the swear filter please ! up when a whole country and way of living is at stake.
I personally think Obama should stay in, not just to keep Palin out, but because I think his election was a 'right guy, wrong time' thing, and that he just got unlucky; but here, I don't live over there so what the heck do I really know?

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Afterall, what we think of US politicians isn't really important now is it
Actually agree with King Cracker
Am sure Palin or any other American politician can't give two tomtits for what the likes of little ol' limey me thinks.
However, what they are thinking is of great import where the rest of the world is concerned, however isolationist or otherwise they may be.
US foreign policy affects us .
We have a right to be concerned. Automatically Appended Next Post: ps when I say actually agree with Cracker, I don't mean OMG at last we see eye to eye on something.
I just mean that I agree that it was just a slip of the tongue that we all make from time to time.
Just wanted to clarify.

You know Bush had a team of speech-writers? Didn't stop him from making stupid gaffes. Joe Biden makes stupid gaffes as well. Everyone makes them. Obama made a bunch, notably his comments about the US Postal Service during the election.
The problem isn't that she makes gaffes, but the fact that she consistently displays poor judgment, ignorance, and the kind of inability to speak coherently that should scare the heck of out anyone regardless of whether they agree with her political positions, whatever they are. I mean take Bush, for example. Dude had a habit of laughable malpropisms, but at least you could understand what he'd meant and hence mock him for mangling it.
Similarly, quitting the Governorship of Alaska before she could get kicked could be seen as smart, if one is inclined to imagine she prefers to put her own welfare before that of her constituents...
David Frum is right to warn Republicans against her and her ilk from over-running their party, and diluting its intelligence and vision.

She also has yet to announce her run for Presidency. Odds are good she won't get elected. We'll find out in 2012. IMO she can't or won't be any worst than Obama.
I thought Clinton was a gakky President and he was loads better than O. If I had to vote for O or C I'd vote for C in a heartbeat (and I NEVER vote for a lefty).
