I spent my weekend stripping, and rebuilding 150 or so dollars worth of warmachine models I picked up for 40 bucks. It was kinda fun, but they are in much better shape than what you picked up. Best of luck!!!

C'mon - I count 8 immortals and 8 wraiths. Even if the rest are totally unsalvageable (and they aren't) either of these groups alone would have made it worthwhile, and both together would have easily gone for $50 to $70 on Ebay. They're metal minis and will survive even very aggressive stripping solutions, like straight acetone for a week. Definitely a great deal.

Thanks for all the feedback guys! and tips and offers =) I really appreciate it!

Ok so I spent some time trying to clean the glue off and file whatever i could.

Darkkt suggested to go with a real worn/beat up look so i figured I would try and make this wraith
look grungy/scrappy if that makes sense so here is what it turned out

NOTE:I figured I would give it a try and paint OVER one of the models that wasn't toooo bad so tell me what you think!

I know more can be done but I just go more for a tabletop standard for these guys no sense is spending hours and hours trying to make a trash can
look like a highly polished work of art haha

Drop them in a stripping solution for a week or so. There is still a lot excess paint and material on that mini.

Also looks like the flash needs to be trimmed badly....might just be the pics though.

Didnt turn out bad, but there is still lots of flashing that needs to be cleaned up (I see some on the shoulder pads, spine and hands). But for sure a vast improvement.

Oh yeah I completely agree there is still a need for a lot more cleaning on the model!

this was the only model I painted I just wanted to see how it would turn out if I simply went for a grungy/scrappy look!

I'll prob get some simple green when I can and let them swim for a few days lol

hell, I would've paid 10 dollars just for the warriors. I guess you got a good deal Soak all the metal stuff in acetone and the plastic stuff in simple green....The monoliths could be tricky, however

Good luck! What are you doing with the nightbringer?

Good question. I'd almost hazard to say that the model doesn't look salvageable.

Chop the 'liths up and use them for armor plates in other projects IMO. Honestly looks like it was melted or something.

6 bucks for a big bottle of concentrate. If your buddy's used GW paint, shouldn't need more than 2 soaks of 1 night each to take off the paint. Thats long enough to weaken superglue bonds too, although if they used plastic cement be ready to cut the models into useful parts. Metal ones you can use really aggressive solvents on, and it will probably weaken the bonds on glue and/or funky putty or whatever they used.

When removing cured putty, I like to use some plastic clips to get a chunk loose, then pull that sumbitch right out with some needle nose pliers.

I really don't know why people use plastic glue. It's the absolute most idiotic thing you can do to your army. Not only can you not fix any mess-ups or swap pieces, but you're dooming any future owners!

Plastic Glue is just a trick by GW to make you buy more models instead of fixing old ones.

If anyone ever wondered what it looked like to paint using a toothbrush and the toothpaste, well, there it is

But for $10 Id say you did pretty good. Now strip those Necrons, and start rebuilding that army

Pff, thats so wrong its scary. I use testors plastic glue on every bit of plastic I have. Its FAR better then super glue. Now THAT stuff doesnt touch my plastic minis.

I use testors on most of my plastics as well, but it just doesn't hold up on my metals so I use superglue (or a dab of gorilla glue, depending on the model) on them.

Not sure if theres an equivilent in the US but in the UK I use Fairy Power Spray. It's a household cleaner which can be bought from any supermarket and it works wonders. I took a load of minis which were caked in paint for 12 years and left in a garage and all it took was 3 hours in the stuff and a toothbrush, then they were as good as new, literally. And the best bit is that it also works on plastic, without any damage at all! We use it in store to clean the painting palletes, just a couple of sprays and 10 minutes later they are sorted.

Ya know, they can't be too bad to fix. That one model looked better with nothing more than a new paintjob.

For the metal models, I'd skip simple green and go right to acetone, which will also work on that glue for you. Drop them in for a week and forget about them - work smarter, not harder.

I'm not sure the standard was ever that low.

God I hope not. I paint to mass produce large numbers. I consider most of my paint jobs a 5 or 6 on a scale to ten but if I voted on these I'd give some of them zeros. If nothing else the glue was so horribly overdone it seems intentional. But I have faith that with a little bit of solvent they'll be back to a workable condition in no time.

Some conversions on plastic figs are impossible using super glue. Also super glue is a much weaker bond than plastic glue. I don't enjoy gluing the arms back on my marines every 3 days.....super glue is also harder to control.

Anyway, I would say most of these figs are fixable. Strip everything. Clean it up and re-assemble them. I bet you have more serviceable figs than you might think.
