I'm stumped on what to use for the Secret Bearer symbol, so could some kind souls give me some ideas?

File down the barrel of the plasma gun. The mould line is kinda glaring. Maybe even drill out the barrel or black dot it.

Only other thing I can think of is to highlight the edges of the plasma to make it look a bit more 'glowy'.

I really do like your color scheme. Looks surprisingly striking on the Tabletop.

Sorry, no idea you were talking about the Icon Bearer... I should have figured out, it's pretty nice indeed!

also, I don't know wether any one relised, but on the previous page I stated I changed the name of the sorcerers to Secret bearers, thats what I meant by help on the icon for the secret bearers

Depends really, sometimes my camera switches from macro to auto if I get to close (I know, weird)
Those photos were good by chance! The flash (Which I don't know how to turn on/off) went off when I tried to get a photo using natural light, giving the shown results!

you can't see it easily I the 1st Photo, but I black dotted the barrels.
Is the plasma glowy enough?

Plasma is looking good. Could maybe use one more highlight, but its hard to tell from that angle.

If you can find a way to lock the flash on, that would be a good start. And find out how to turn on the Macro settings. (When in doubt, RTFM, if you dont have it, DL one online)

the closesed I could get to locking the flash on was a special mode that takes to photos on after the other, one with and one without flash.

I'll try to get a lighter highlight, what colour do you think I should add/intensify in a 2:2 mix of blood red and sunburst yellow?

Blazing Orange seems to be the normal red extreme higlight, IIRC.

I'm so short on colors at the moment, I cant really give you insight. Heck I dont even know most of the current GW color range.

would golden yellow do? I don't have blazing orange

As a 50-50 mix, I dont see why not... Try it and find out.

Okay, highlighted the plasma with a 3:2 mix of suburst yellow and blood red.

Not bad at all for a first try at OSL. Braver than I am.

Tip.

You have some nice big, clear pics.

Use the Default windows Image Editing program to crop them down a bit, and adjust the white balance. Super easy to do, and you'll get a nice close up image of the mini.

Also, grab a pain white peice of paper and put it behind the mini. Might help a bit.

very nice work

It looks almost perfect, but it lacks a little something to finish the effect...

With my "short" experience in OSL (4-5 minis lol), I have found the light source should always be brighter than the reflected light.

So I'd say, try to highlight the coil with another step, or, if you have patience, another step for both surrounds & coil, then a last highlight on the coil only.

As for the mini itself, you should consider washing him entirely with... Say, watered down Badab Black? It'd help in smoothing the transitions between the trims & armour plates, and would make the small details (gauntlet, fingers) stand out more, with little effort...

Badab is maybe the simplest choice, but I think someone could suggest a "colour that would add depth"...

Okay Yggdrasil, I'll do a 2:1 mix of Sunburst yellow/blood red for the glow + coil then a 5:2 mix of Sunburst yellow/blood red for coil.
Sound good?

That could do, just be sure to put the final highlight on the glow only on the most prominent edges, not along the whole edge.

How does the Plasma look now?


Also, I gave the model a thin wash of Badab balck. How does it look?

My first comment would be Mold Lines!

My second comment would be that the glow looks good. The next step in making it convincing would be to get some red reflected light on his chest plate and respirator.
