For a game that covers nearly every sci-fi trope and archetype we are missing some stuff:

Bugs. Not like tyranids, I mean like way more eyes and legs than necessary and clacking mandibles.

We also don't have your typical big-headed, alien, greys; though I think necrons have some of their traits, namely abduction, mystery, and experimentation.

And finally some sort of evil space corporation that's in it for the credits (which is always what money in space is called) and only uses automated drones. Think Weyland-Yutani and Dune's Guild. Though the tau and Ad-Mech might be able to cover those.

Honestly though those are just some sci-tropes I think are missing, I just really want Ad-Mech.

I know the Q'Orl were mentioned, but I have a different idea

What earth creature can survive in nearly any environment, survive a nuclear war, and would almost certainly be on any planet inhabited but the IoM?

The cockroach!

Now imagine them evolving for roughly 38,000 years being exposed to radiation, random mutagenic chemicals/gases, the Warp and who knows what else. If you think that still wouldn't push them far enough alone to be a full fledge sentient race, you could always have some 'mysterious force' rapidly push their evolution forward (would be the first time it's happened).

A roach army would weld a mixture of scavenged IoM gear and bio-weapons. They wouldn't be strong, but they'd be a lot of them.

I know it's kinda out there, but hey crazy, crazy stuff happens in 40K.

Hmmmm, I'm guessing new army means not a variation of an existing army, as I'd rather they balanced what they have out at the moment, and brought out new rules to allow you further customise your forces based on Chapter/Craftworld/God/Hive Fleet/etc.

If I made a new army, I'd probably like to see either the Adeptus Mechanicus and their Skitarii Legions brought to the field, the Adeptus Arbites, or the Deathwatch.

There's not really any other factions big enough in the fluff that you could make an army out of them, instead of just editing their codex to make it possible to field a list of them (Genestealer Cult). The Tau get picked on cause they're really small, imagine the flak some new race no-one had ever heard of would get....probably less than the Tau, cause they aren't grimdark anime.

The fact the GW would make space fish gundams but not the mechanicum is a testamate to how little they care about fluff and how much they care about money.

The mechanicum is a stand alone force in allience with the Imperium, they have armies as vast as the imperial guard and with some units as powerful as space marines. GIVE ME THE MECHANICUM!!!

You compare the Tau to Anime? Good lord, that's cruel. (Dodges thrown Daemonhammer) Of course, I suppose there are those who would argue it would be cruel to compare Anime to Tau, but at least the Tau's armies arent comprised entirely out of schoolgirls and people with big hair. (Dodges even bigger Daemonhammer)

Anyway, I'm getting off topic.

Deathwatch would be good. However, I have heard rumours about a forthcoming Codex: Alienhunters, which could well be the Deathwatch. It just seems a shame that such an integral part of the Imperium has no Codex.

I'd love knights, as from adeptus titanicus/ space marine days, but obviously smaller.

When I went to warhammer world the last year I saw what I believe was labeled as a chaos mechanicum army made of various servitors, knights (you will know what I mean if you have read mechanicum) and floating gun platforms, it looked really good!

I think a mechanicum which includes imperial and chaos/renegade would be good.

I would like them to bring back the lost and damned personally, I've just read some Gaunt's Ghosts novels and I really want to make a chaos IG army.

I'd like to do the Interex. Highly advanced humans with an almost eldar style to them combined with the tougher, stronger, but slower kinebrach.

It'd play as a highly mobile force wielding light-bows from atop Centaur firing platforms and power-weapon armed CC troops, backed up by anvil units of heavily armored kinebrach.

In fact, i think I may need to work on a fandex and some conversions now

I've always thought that 40k universe lacks robots army. And I mean robots-machines. Not some mystic, undead, ancient, magical terminators, but pure, non humanoidal robots. You know, small walkers, assault walkers, big spider tanks, small spider tanks, mechanical tanks, robot octopus, floating probes. With some funny SI based mechanics, and army rules (like synapse for nids)

I would want a "wild animal" force if you will. There has to be planets with native animals or something, such as Catachans plants and wildlife.

Yea it would mostly be for smaller games or a story driven battle, but that would be awesome to have stats and models for the deadlier creatures we read about but never have seen.

Also Traitor Guard. Seriously was tons of fun to play against LatD armies back in the day, plus they are one of the Imperiums most fought enemy (according to every guard BL book I read).

I reckon it would have to be Mechanicum/Princeps as they do have close ties and who doesnt want to field a titan or at least a mini titan in a real game. They could make it take you two or three heavy support options

I'd want something which has super-strong armor, but really pathetic toughness, because that's a little different from what's gone before. So perhaps some type of gaseous alien in an environmental suit (Think Vorlon Kosh from Babylon 5), that would be tough to rupture but would basically die if exposed. Maybe some race with T2 but Sv2+(4+I) on basic troopers.

Obviously, it'd be a shooty race, as something with vulnerable physical forms wouldn't want to get up close and personal (Maybe have no Inv save in CC) I'd also have them be without vehicles, but perhaps have flying FA. Kind of a shooting equivalent to the Tyranids.

That sounds really interesting. The only problem you'd run into would be from how wounds are dealt in 40K, and how toughness comes before armor for that. Might balance out, might not, though.

I'd say more of an Ooze race, instead of gaseous. Would allow more versatility in the fluff.

Ooze might work better, I just thought the idea of a gaseous race would work better with the idea of gas giants and over resource rich non-terraformed planets.

And yes, the toughness before armor rules might be a spanner in the works, but I was just spit-balling something that was different from what we currently have.

Of course, if it was re-introducing, I'd like to cross-pollinate the old Squats with the Demi-Urg from BFG. I did have a very basic Codex figured out, but it got lost when my Windows XP install went tits-up (Which is why I'm now an Ubuntu guy)
