I would probably make an assassin style army. Something similar to feudal japan's ninja's in storyline and feel, with the 40k twist.

Better to let them think you a fool, then open your mouth and proof them right.

Though technically not a new army, I would like to see an entire mechanicum force. I imagine them as using a lot of crazy servitors, as well as the standard techguard, priests and vehicles. I think there would be a lot of potential for an interesting army there.

The fact the GW would make space fish gundams but not the mechanicum is a testamate to how little they care about fluff and how much they care about money.

The mechanicum is a stand alone force in allience with the Imperium, they have armies as vast as the imperial guard and with some units as powerful as space marines. GIVE ME THE MECHANICUM!!!

I'd like to see a rogue army. A force with HQ as a rogue trader and no force organization charts. It would have thugs and awol guard as troops and rogue non-chaos marines as elites. This or a ressitance form of guard. Some of the books talk about resistance forces fighting chaos on conquered planets. They would have more stealth and hit and run based rules. More of a hybrid marine/guard army I guess. Somewhere in between.

The Imperium using advanced technology is like drinking Pepsi out of a Coke bottle.

sounds like some of you should try expanding several Necromunda gangs into a force-i think it would be fairly easy to find equivalent stats within the game.
However you should bear in mind that guard are already elite fighters as far as humans go and marine equivalents would be pretty much non existannt within the human populace so a lot of the troops would just be criminal type ordinary humans with low stats. ws2 bs2 s2 t2 w1 i2 a1 ld 6???? as a base civilian type.

The more non imperium armies we get, the better. We xenos and heretics are outnumbered by the umies for codex equipped factions as it is.

It is pretty ridiculous how many marine codexes have been released. The Dark Mechanicum would make a pretty interesting army though...

Genestealer cult. Almost all the models needed already exist, all you need is a codex to boost sales of current miniatures. A single cult sprue to convert IG would make the whole army viable.

i think this was mentioned before by darktau, an elite assassin type army would be cool, like a 'Black Ops' elite that is even ore inner circle than the inquisition and are second in skill only to the emperor himself. and could be used in a way to take out powerful rogue inquisitors, like the assassins that the inquisition use but in teams, not alone

For a game that covers nearly every sci-fi trope and archetype we are missing some stuff:

Bugs. Not like tyranids, I mean like way more eyes and legs than necessary and clacking mandibles.

We also don't have your typical big-headed, alien, greys; though I think necrons have some of their traits, namely abduction, mystery, and experimentation.

And finally some sort of evil space corporation that's in it for the credits (which is always what money in space is called) and only uses automated drones. Think Weyland-Yutani and Dune's Guild. Though the tau and Ad-Mech might be able to cover those.

Honestly though those are just some sci-tropes I think are missing, I just really want Ad-Mech.

GW give is another Imperium book, they get accused of just going after money. They create a new race instead of making another Imperial book, they get accused of just going after money.

The narrative feeds itself.

That said, I'd love to see the Adeptus Mechanicus, though it would be hard to make it play in its own, interesting way.

I think Genestealer Cults and Traitorous Guard would work just as well. You could probably combine this into one book, with a base level of options (basically IG with a lot the bigger toys stripped out, and access to more conscript level troops) and then a new set of options added depending on exactly what kind of heresy you want them to follow. Genestealer cult would give access to stealers and hybrids and the like. Chaos would give access to possessed and daemons and things like that.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

I'd make a walker based army, with squadrens of mini walkers as troops.

Esentially, everything would have an AV instead of toughness.

The faction of the army doesn't matter half as much as how interesting and enjoyable to force is to play. What the person across the table is fielding isn't all that important...it's not like you don't have plenty of Imperium on Imperium battle taking place. Heresy is everywhere and there have been a lot of misunderstandings between loyalists.

The pheromone gland stealing. They had billions of their number killed by the Imperium and now see the only revenge to be a great conquest of new territory in the name of the swarmhood. I think it also mentions the new breed of Q'orl that are a maggot that can take control of other races brains. So theres potential there for a Q'orl army with "infested" units from other races. They also lack warp travel but have high tech ships able to take on the Imperiums best. It would be even more of a horde army possibly than nids or orks. As the average Q'orl only lives ten years at best and thousands are spawned constantly. They also dont have bioweaponry but do have technology of their own. It looks to have great potential if GW wanted a proper insectoid race.
