Dust/Dried mud. If its been sitting, then chance are it wouldnt actually get 'muddy'

Thanks, i'm going for the dusty route for weathering my tanks (a lot easier may I add than realistic wet mud )

Here's a start to one of my new projects.

My long neglected Shadowsword

His commander

The colour scheme for the commander was from when I used him as a Steel Legion commander, he'll most likely use the standard grey as with my other commander.

Will do a little more on the standard death korps later, expect pics!

Apologies for lack of updates, but I've only just gotten back from my New Years trip

Anyhoo, i've hastily painted several guardsmen in alternating colour schemes, these were incredibly quick jobs so they are just barely under tabletop quality but they're here to illustrate the basic colours of the guardsmen.

I'd just like some feedback on which colourscheme looks the best before I continue and paint 20 of these suckers!

Well, I like the middle one most.

The blue one....MY EYES! What have you done to a krieg model?!

I like the blue one - he reminds me of french first world war uniform. Perhaps theirs were just a little less bright...

I'm afraid I'm going to be boring and say number one at this point as number 3 is too bright... have you tried using Fenris Grey instead? It gives a nice blue that is more remeniscent of the WW1 French uniforms, with the added benefit that it doesn't blind

Charadon Granite also makes a nice colour for DKoK

Well, It wasn't meant as a rude comment, mind you. I just have to agree with the others. The blue one is too bright. Darken it, and it'll look WAY better.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of, currently I used Ice Blue, but of course that is a little bright. I'm not sure what other blues to try to get that French WWI infantry look (i'm not sure GW does the right blue so maybe French Ultramarine or Horizon Blue acrylics from an art shop?) Also, any ideas on how to darken it without losing the colour? I'm trying to avoid too much washing as I prefer to use that as an easy way to blend colours or for easy shadows.

Ah, yes that's the main inspiration for the blue uniform, it was a bit of an experiment trying to get close to the French WWI uniform, and this was the closest I managed to get it. I don't think it's any coincidince that I bought a bottle of Charadon Granite the other day .

One more thing, does anyone happen to have a picture of a DKoK model painted in WWI french colours? Using someone elses artwork to base your own troops seems to be much easier than experimenting yourself

There are some good ones in the gallery if you do a search for Krieg.

These two came up quite high in the list :

Riocordo's Krieg
and Brish_slip's WIP

Bris_slips look best imo. The green chest plate gives it some nice contrast. At first I wasn't convinced that blue DKOK look good, but hey, if you give them some nice contrasts, they'll look smashing.

Snarky I love the gray which fits with the theme. Great job on the Krieg troops I can't wait to start on mine once I am done with my other troops.
Keep up the great work hope to see more.

Update time:! This time it's random miniatures, my Death Korps ended up as a multicoloured mess, so i'm deciding whether to strip them down and start again. While I do that however, i'll post some other stuff i'm working on.

Finally got my mitts on IA:10 the other day. Very impressed by the book.

IA9 also fits snugly in the box!

Lufgt Huron, the keen eyed amongst you might have seen him in the background from my first images. Time to give him some paint!

An Astral Claws sergeant with meltabomb.

WIP Astral Claws sergeant w/powerfist

I plan on getting some more FW marine stuff, namely the new ironclad dreadnought and possibly a few MK5s depending on how my army list turns out.

I like the Dkok to the left the most. The traditional gray is the best look for them in my opinion.

Been a while since I updated, but here's a few things I managed to pull together.

Finalized colour scheme for my guard, gone for the boring grey.

Group Shot of half the squad

Even bigger group shot!

more to come soon...

Grey works well for these guys and isn't boring at all (especially with the added muddiness). When I was planning a Kreig based force I was also planning on a grey scheme. Looking good!

Haven't updated for a bit. Here's something i've been working on, a different take on the Anti-Air tanks of the imperial guard.

Probably a bit extreme when dealing with the paper armour of aircraft...

Managed to get a little more progress done.

Watchmaster

Commissar

Meltagunner

Company Commander (Count-as Straken)

Now the image for the Company Commander isn't the best, (i'm not sure why the bionic arm is so crisp compared to the rest of the model), but he does have a fully cybernetic left side. I'm musing on giving him an overslung shotgun to make him fully WYSIWG, but I also want to use him as a regular commander with plasma pistol in my death korps list.

Finally a sneak peak at another project, "the bros".
