Got a camera working so better pics this time, and it's a sort of big update.

Guardsman

I tried a different basing scheme for this one instead of the base barbed wire, which is a burst water pipe, not really sure I hit the mark on this one.

Better images of the Vox Caster

Also started work on a heavy stubber team

Crewman

Gun em down!

Also did a bit more on the commissar.

Unfortunately, I lost one of my commissars when I was playing at a GW, which I think someone must have pinched it while I wasn't looking.....

your heavy stubber looks a bit bent. Love the commissar, I would steal him in a flash if I was a sneak thief. Hate that though. One time I went to a big gaming club I came back home minus two minis

Thanks, I think it might be the angle I took the photo at but the heavy stubber is pretty straight in actuality.

Also, I know what you mean, it's the first time i've lose a mini while gaming, but it just teaches you to be more cautious in the future

With Platinum Devil 3 finally over, I managed to squeeze in some Death Korps between University work and Elysians!

Here is my latest project.

I plan on also getting a Medusa Carriage to go with my field artillery.

Also managed to paint another squad member, Mr. Meltagunner!

Unfortunately no, my medusa hasn't been assembled yet, these are regular griffon mortars

@Nerdfest09 Thanks!

Whoa, griffins,

I have just converted 2 griffins from old chimerias(s?) for my death korps. I just need to by a squad of artillery crew though, Which guys would you advise? (cost being the key factor)

I think the grey really looks great! Do you have any plans for deathriders? I've always loved those models, not that you can go wrong with DKoK.

@The only jp - I'd go for these guys if you want mortar teams for chimeras. http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Imperial_Guard/Death-Korps-of-Krieg/DEATH-KORPS-OF-KRIEG-HEAVY-ARTILLERY-CREW.html
It's cheaper than getting two sets of griffon mortar teams, and you can cut away the earthshaker shells to make them carry the mortars that come with the griffon.

@Rawson - I already have some interesting ideas to convert a mounted commissar to go with a mounted horseback command squad, watch this space!

Cheers snarky! They will be ordered as soon as I convince my parents to let me "waste" more money on "toys".

Also, how do you do you greatcoats? The blue is the exact tone I want, but cant achieve :( (if you don't min sharing of course)

Do you mean the garish blue ones I did in my test scheme? That's just a coat of watered down ice blue (25% water 75% paint). It was a very quick test job, so whatever you paint will be pretty much 100% better than that model!

Found myself a little spare time and started work on the two heavy mortars. Still needs weathering and highlighting.

I'm slightly disappointed that you didn't go for the utterly alien Cobalt Wastes of Verdun II camo pattern! I'd actually quite like to see a full army in that scheme with terrain and bases to match. For French WW1 grey I used Shadow Grey if that helps. Every time I see the Hades model the urge to loot 1 as a Battlewagon gets stronger!

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

That Blue!

Ah sorry for the confusion!

Here's the process and colours I used!

Prime black
Base coat of Codex Grey (watered down roughly 40% water 60% paint)
Black wash (self made) using roughly 80% water, 10% black, 10% codex grey in the recesses
Drybrush codex grey
Drybrush Astronomicon grey
Final highlight of a mix of 50% fortress grey 50% white.

Hope that helps!

Got some work done on my tanks.

Firstly introducing the mighty superheavy tank of my regiment.

Very basic camo work done, needs detailing (metallics) and weathering.

Meanwhile, I tried my hand at converting a more krieg-ish exterminator from plastic kits.

Another tank that I couldn't resist buying.

If you are interested how FW have changed the leman russ turret rings, here you go!

The turret fits the new smaller turret ring of the new plastic russes.

Old Russ chassis

Solution! A small turret ring that comes with the turret.

They redesigned the turret mounting?

@ stormwell: It's a clear improvement. The turret ring now fits on both the new russ chassis and old russ chassis. The ring fits perfectly on the new russ, which is a snug fit, while also being easy to remove too.
