Boom! Leman Russ Commander

your models are very awesome! I love your conversion.
The weapons and the capes are very well done!
Only thing I would say is that the bare heads seem a bit too dull for me. I would try to go for a darker or lighter color so that they just don't fade into the ggreen armor.
I love seeing Salamander armies and this one is great!

That's magnificent! I really enjoyed seeing the common themes, conversions and consistent high grade finish work that defines your army!
I'd be proud just to play against those some day!
Well done!

The painting is well done. Colours are good.
But what really impresses me is the converting. I'm a conversion maniac myself (slowly working on a dusk raider plog) but I do and have done the same thing for years, attempted to make them as dynamic as possible.
Your use of movement is awesome on your vet squads especially! I would absolutely love part lists for N'keln (particualrly that awesome head) and this guy...
The use of such a breadth of parts really helps to unify the army as well as keep the units separated with themes. It's great to see someone picking from everywhere to bring it all together like this. Did you cast/buy a large amount of running/kneeling legs? Or did you have to convert power squat marines? I really like the subtle things like the small arm/head/accessory changes you've done on a lot of them. Really add's character and life to them. Well done bud!
OH! And before I forget, never second guess the bulk of this guy.. it totally works! It's brilliant!

That guy is actually just one of the standard guys from the Masters of the Chapter box with a plastic Black Templar bolter instead of his storm shield(which went to Tu'Shan), and a different plastic head. The stock model is here:
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440271a&prodId=prod1060012
The head was just one of the Marine plastics I had lying around, so I can't say off the top of my head which box it came from.
N'keln was a head and weapon swap of Gabriel Seth:
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440191a&prodId=prod550013a
...after dremeling all the flesh-tearer iconography off.
The bits I swapped in were:
The head, which was sawed off of Chaplain Xavier, the old Salamander special character who is sadly out of print. Xavier was also the source of the backpack for my Nameless Chapter Master. In the book, N'keln's helm had a snarling Drake snout for a faceplate, and my old Xavier was the closest I could find. I dremeled Seth's head out, and pinned in Xavier's helm. It's actually noticeably smaller than a standard marine helm when compared side-by-side, but the pose of the model makes it hard to notice.
And then the sword... oh boy, the sword. After reading the description in Salamander, I knew I had to take a crack at the two-bladed sword design, but quickly realized two things:
1: There was no way in hell I could pull off that effect at a standard power-weapon size as it is in the book, this was going to be a relic blade.
and 2: This was going to be a bitch to make.
The blade itself is two Grey Knight Terminator Nemesis force swords, each with half of the blade filed off. Sawing one sword in half lost too much of the center mass, so I had to cannibalize two more for it. After they were filed all nice and flat, I tried drilling and using pins for the cross-bars, but it just didn't look right, and it was a nightmare to line up. The eventual fix was to cut lengths of a very thin plastic weapon haft and glue them on one of the blades, so it looked something like a comb. I then filed the "bristles" of the comb so they were all the same length, and glued the other blade on. I greenstuffed the hilt to blend the two together a bit. This horrific abomination of a weapon was then pinned onto Seth's gigantic chainsword-o-doom's handle.

I actually had enough spare crap to build this all without casting anything. I've been collecting Marines for way[i] too long. And I only had one pair of kneeling legs, which went to that one Sternguard guy.
Anyone else? Bitz lists for anything else, to the best of my ability, are available.

White primer.
Snot Green basecoat. (Doesn't need to be pretty or even, just covered.)
Thraka Green wash.
Snot Green overcoat, leaving the wash in the recesses.
Scorpion Green highlights.
Touchups. If any of your highlights were too thick, hit the main area with a little more Snot Green and gradually bring it to the edge to thin the lines.
The white primer is really what makes all the difference. It just makes the green so vibrant compared to Black.

I can do that. It'll probably be a few days, though. I was already planning on doing a tutorial for freehanding the drake-scale cloaks too.
And thank you. N'keln is my second favorite conversion.

That are some bad-ass conversions. Love the paint job also. Just one thing, I love how you used BA pieces and the gabriel seth model for your one guy. To me some of the angel wings on the shoulder pads and on the seth conversion model just look out of place. Not saying remove them but maybe paint them in a flame scheme to match the salamander theme a bit better.

Honestly, I just painted them to be variations on the Imperial Aquila. I never really thought of them as angel wings. Hmm...

Thanks. He originally had the powerfist-holding-the-helmet bit from the Masters of the Chapter box as his left hand, and I just played him as having two hammers. But I hate proxying, so I eventually gave him his second hammer. I debated on doing the brazier-flame thing with that one too, but I figured the single flame works as a focus, and having two focuses on a model tends to make it feel too busy.
