Well building of models has officially stopped, and the army is large enough for ard boys.
Now it's time to focus on painting.

Going to try the following list for ard boys, which pretty much includes almost all of my IG models.

6 Chimera
3 Vendettas
2 Leman Russ Demolishers
1 Manticore
Quad plasma CCS, astropath, officer of the fleet
Quad melta CCS
2 PBS with 6 psykers
Marbo
2 Melta Vet squads with demo doctrine

Dip them all, let the emperor sort them out.

Dipped all remaining finished infantry in army painter quickshade strong coat followed by their matte spray.

All 6 pics are completely finished models, input, votes, and advice for improvement are all appreciated.

The same way you make a real bomb: Copper wire, wire cutters, and a pair of pliers. Well actually insulated wire is used for actual bombs, and the stuff I used is not insulated. My wife has some fine gauge non-insulated wire that she uses for making jewelry. I've been stealing it for a couple of years for pinning my models, this is the 1st time I used it to create wires.

I've been out of town all week, so no progress on the guard. Right now I'm just looking forward to Ard Boys, but as soon as that's done it's back to work on painting.

Well the plan is to have a lot of the models work in both an IG and GK army, so here come 2 of the first GK units.

The magnetized guns for the Hydra to pop on and off, and the same guns are also used for psyfleman dreads.

Base coated the 1st psyfeman dread.

The dread needs some more detail work before dipping

Also basecoated 2 more Chimera, 4 turrets, and have a long way to go.

4 WIP Chimera along with 1 finished Chimera

Current plan is to keep working on the dread and 4 Chimera until they are all ready to be dipped at the same time.

Not much progress this week, but I did finish the last little bits of the turrets.

3/5 Chimera bodies are finished, only 1 dipped. The plan is to finish the other 2 bodies, then have a day of mass dipping doing 4 Chimera and the dread/sentinel on the same day.

Progress has been very slow do to the holidays and lots of time at work. Hydra and Manticore are almost finished. The plan is to dip 5 chimera, a hydra, and manticore tomorrow. Then my hope is the weather stays warm enough to purity seal the figures in 4 days.

Anyhow here is the manticore

And the Hydra. I ended up reconstructing the radar mast to look more like a radar and less like a death ray.

You might dip/wash the tanks for some easy highlighting and prehaps add some brown and orange paint for rust. Wasteland tanks gotta be rusty right

4 more demo charges, needs basing and dip. I use them for marbo, demo doctrine, and demo charge SWS because I'm a hate filled black hearted bastard

It's just the GW basing kit and spare bits along with small amounts of highland tuft from the army painter.

Need to add more weathering effects on the tanks, but don't want to go overboard on rust as I'm going for an arid look with the army.

Tried out a new basing technique that was a little less time consuming. For the bottom layer of the base coat Instead of black primer followed by a brown coat and a yellow dry brush I just went with a desert yellow primer. Looked like gak after I painted them, until devan mud saved the day.

Looks like I'm good to go for bay area open. The base closest to the front is an objective marker and my secret weapon. I automatically get to capture or contest that objective because one of my guardsmen already has his hand on it.

Starting work on the henchmen for when I also use the army as a GK henchman army. I'm going to need 14 warriors with bolters for 2 squads.

Playing with glue and green stuff the results are hit and miss.

Off with their heads. The first thing I had go was the zombie heads. The sculpts are bad, and I prefer other heads.

I like the jungle fighter and SM scout heads on cadian bodies. I'm overall happy with that combo.

For the guardsmen with zombie torsoes I think I'm going to use ungor or jungle fighter heads

Still very much in the experimental phase, but I'm starting to get some poses with bolters that I am happy with.

Alright the rocks are falling apart, and I'm not in love with the concept anymore. I still don't want any aircraft in my army for fluff reasons (Logistically speaking aircraft are needy bitches, and my wasteland raiders can't support them). I still also want to go with a chaos touched theme for my aircraft, and spikey bits are out of the question as even orks would see the flaw in the aerodynamics of spikey bits on an aircraft. So off tot he next idea, giant over sized 2 headed 2 tailed flying deamonic creatures that resemble over sized screamers.

Basic frame of plastic card and wire.

Held together on it's base with magnets with a psychic pilot on riding it.

My magnetizing idea. One magnet is on top of the flight stand, the other is on the top side of the plastic card and will be buried under green stuff. The magnets are strong enough that they hold just fine through the plastic card.

Abandoned the idea of a psyker riding the vendetta in favor of just of focusing on the Vendetta. Came to the awesome realization that the model can double as a chaos dragon. Anyhow my wife finished college and now found the time to work on the sculpting of the vendetta/chaos dragon. White stuff is Aves Apoxie sculpt, it's a 2 part white and light grey green stuff used by taxidermists.

Anyhow that's all the progress made so far. The front spikes and spine are down along with the rest of the frame. Will post more pictures as it comes along. What's probably noticeable now is it's going to have 2 heads, 2 spines, and 2 tails.
