Heresy Miniatures do that as well.

They're both good companies.

I dislike these miniatures. Prolonged exposure makes me think less of Hasslefree as a company. It might just be the god-awful helmets, but I can't tell because just looking at the things is like watching my own private Two Minutes Hate.

The internet hyperbole machine rolls along as smoothly as ever, I see.

I have to say that these aren't my favourite hasslefree models, though. I prefer them with pulse rifles. The box set idea is cool though.

In response to that guy who said there are no Female Guardsmen. That assertion is false. The Imperium of man has no qualms about pressing women into service. If I remember Ciaphias Cain had to get an all female regiment and an all male regiment to act as a cohesive force.

Did you read that part after he said there were no female guard, where he said that they all do "space vacuuming" instead? That was the part that indicated he was joking.

Aren't all IG merely generic sci-fi soldier with an eagle stuck on? Except for the ones which are generic WW1/Zulu War/Rambo/Bedouin with an eagle stuck on.

I've seen that figure before, but had forgotten how ridiculous the bodice is.

Funny, from the depictions of the female commissars and officers in the fluff (particularly in the Dan Abnett or Sandy Mitchell stories), they'd wouldn't be seen dead wearing something like that...

And would execute anyone who even suggesed they wear it!

What is "god-awful" about the helmets?

It's mainly that compared to the narrow shoulders, they look about twice as wide as they should be. The goggles and chin strap do not help either, as they make the helmet look even bigger than it already is. In short, it makes them look like dwarfs.

Something closer to the helmets worn by 2nd edition Cadian Shock Troops would have been a vast improvement.

Well, since women are smaller than men, any fixed size equipment like helmets and guns looks bigger on them.

Does anyone have an idea what the "unique" models are like?

Does it really mean a unique model in each box? I don't see how that would be doable, and I suppose they mean "new".

What it means is that in each box, you get at least one model that can't be bought from Hasslefree direct. In this box it's the third model along, which is a conversion of this model.

Sure, but not that big. The "ideal proportions" for a woman gives her shoulders that at their widest point are approximately three times the width of her head. Compare that to those helmets. There's "28mm heroic", and then there's absurd.

I think it's a matter of personal taste.

The helmets look pretty realistic to me for an SF equipment item that probably contains a visor, a communicator, camera, tactical intelligence computer, night vision, HUD, and so on.

Viz. US Navy "Talker" helmet, designed to accommodate intercom equipment

You look at modern helmets, they are smaller than these Hasslefree but they need to have a lot of the crap tacked on to the outside.

Yeah, the helmets are aesthetically a little big (especially the side sections), but not unbelievably so from a practical perspective. They seem to have adequate visibility and more metal/plastic/whatever between your head an incoming objects is a good thing.

I would probably dremel them a bit to look more like flatter metal helmets. I don't imagine the IG wants to waste alot of resources on things like "protection" for infantry. ;-)

Yea, helmets always make people's heads look weird when not wearing shoulder armor. Whether or not they are a little on the large side scale wise is harder to say, but they don't have the big IG pads, so they probably would fit pretty well, given that GW cadians have GIANT helms.

The USS Orinoco was a Federation Danube-class runabout that was in service with Starfleet in the late 24th century, attached to Deep Space 9. It was outfitted with a sensor pod.
