Where ever the wife lets me. usually I move a small side table to behind the sofa (and out of her eye line). Only issue i the deal is that she gets the tv (100 channel and she always finds the worst things on) and I have to tidy up fully afterwards. I look forward to my man cave when we move. She actually agrees I need one so all of my "toys" will be out of sight, lol

I don't have room for a man-cave, so I set myself up a little man-nook in the bedroom. It pretty much encloses 1/4 of the room, but I keep my ever-growing piles of crap from spilling outwards, so my girlfriend doesn't mind. She does her craft-related activities elsewhere by choice, so me hogging the table/desk space in the bedroom isn't an issue.

If you'd rather just see, there have been a few "show us your workspace" threads, recently. This one has pics of my area, as well as those of others:http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/post/list/327761.page

I usually work in my living room or at Starbucks depending on my mood. I am going to get a paint station for valentine's day. I've heard it's kind of awesome.

In my unfinished basement. I made a path out of carpet squares to the area where I paint/model. I have a desk for the work, and to storage tables for... storage. With my Ipod blaring Devil Wears Prada.

How does painting at Starbucks work?

How does painting at Starbucks work?

Much the same as reading or knitting up at Starbucks would work. I typically go up there on a Saturday afternoon or evening. During the summer months, I'd paint on the patio area. Now I just take my toolbox, a few minis, my paints, and my own water cup up there. No has ever said anything negative, and I usually get interest about the minis from little kids and older ladies.

My Missus and I have a rather large bedroom,so I have a desk set in one of the corners were I do my painting.
Thankfully she's pretty easy going about things.

In the kitchen, at a round table next to the dining table. I'll stick Radio 4 or a podcast on (most commonly This American Life, if the latter) and paint away.

Downside is that any clutter, well, is a bit overly apparent, being in the kitchen and all. Which has the benefit that I have a reason to tidy up relatively regularly, but still, it'd be nice to have a room for it. Can't see that happening any time in the near future though. I'm just lucky to have a kitchen to do it in!

(spray-painting I do outside without cover, which means I have to wait for clement weather to do so. Which in South Wales, can be a bit of a problem...)

Everywhere I'm not supposed to be.

Down in the basement, under a nice pair of daylight bulbs (I wish I knew where these things are sold, they're 4 foot tubes...you're jealous, I know). I've got a dehumidifier set up so it's never too damp that I wait all day for primer to dry, and there's a seperate workshop down there that I can spray in without giving myself a tumor!

My GF and me refurbished a small room under the roof to become our hobby room. Half of it is for my Miniature addiction and the other half is for her hobby (sewing). The half room is enough to have 2 tables in an L and 2 cabinets for all the boxes and finished minis - it's pretty cramped - but comfortable (I don't have to move much, once I'm at the table and have a brush in my hand ; ).
I'm really lucky that she's so supportive and this way we can even spend time together while I'm painting

My Wife let me have our spare bedroom as a "toy" room, it has all my figures, books, graphic novels, 40k stuff and games table! I have my Paints set up on a table by the window with a large Cork mat on top so i can model there too (who does love being able to stab their craft knife into the table when they're finished using it?) also gives great natural light, perfect for painting! I've also covered the walls in 40K posters and stuff, its a real getaway area. mind you if I'm painting in the evening I have a spare hardboard sheet I use for spraying that i bring downstairs to paint on, spilled stuff on the sofa many a time! lol ^_^

Our "dinner table" is under the stairs in our open plan house so I sit there in the corner with a light clipped onto the ironing board! I put my three year old on his chair opposite me and the 1.5 year old in his highchair and they paint too, hopefully for longer than 5 mins.

On the dining room table. I have some shelves in the nearby closet where I keep all my supplies and whatever models are in progress. Then I just pull them out for a few hours and put them away when I'm done.

For airbrushing and priming, I go out on my apartment balcony.

It's funny, when I first moved into my apartment (shared with a roommate) I got an extra long desk so that I could work on models in my room. But it was much nicer to be social and do it in our common room (since he is a fellow 40k player).

I wish I had a room to myself for painting and playing....but my desk in in my bedroom. Of course this is a huge problem because its within close proximity of the bed where my wife loves to fluff the covers and fuzz gets all over my workspace. By the end of this year I will have my own hobby room to do my craft in looking foward to it. Prior to this I was in an apt where I converted the unjustifiably spacious laundry room into my work space

We have a spare Bedroom in my house and it doubles as the office and the closet is the game closet so I do most of my projects in there. That way I can sleep in the spare bed if I get into the dog house by spending too much time in here or by spending too much lettuce on games. SO it works out, plus the PC is here so I can stream netflix and play DVDs

If not for the mediocre who would be great, and thank goodness for those who are just terrible they make even those who are mediocre look great

I got the painting station for Christmas, so i am "allowed" to paint in the lounge, and in exchange i "allow" my wife to be in controll of the remote. Im not really paying attention to the TV so its a fair trade off

Spraying i do outside on top of our Wheelie bin, with a bit of cardboard from the recycling bin to protect the fence. And most of my bits are kept in our Death Cupboard, so named as you risk death entering in there becasue there is so much stuff in there that you might get hit on the head by falling detritus. (its sort of our shed but inside, big enough that you can step into, as long as i have not filled the floor up with bottles of lemonade or crates of beer )
