In the mad rush of folks getting rid of their stuff, I'd probably pick up a few used units and repaint/rehab them to add to my IG and Blood Angels.

I don't play that often anymore and my forces are already good sized, but their are a few units I'd like to have, and having a couple of well rounded sci-fi armies for use in any number of other sci-fi games is never a bad thing. I'd also buy a few Tau and Kroot units and vehicles for the express purpose of using in other games.

Then I'd probably go on as I am now, mostly playing the many other cheaper and faster-playing miniatures games that my group plays.

40k will always have a place in my heart, but it's not the basis or the extent of my miniature gaming hobby anymore.

Id buy the remains of the company, and start anew. And use what made them go out of business as a template on how to fix it. I personally think warhammer/40k is just to rich to lose to a company being retards

Yeah in reality someone would pick up the IP and physical assets, but it's interesting to see that to some people GW is the Hobby, and their involvement would end if GW went.

Do you reckon there would be an online 'open source' project to keep it going, and would that even work? Or would it be a case of too many cooks spoiling the broth?

I don't think I would stop.. Ebay would be my tool of choice, and the purchases likely even more expensive. oh well, its "disposable" income for a reason

I would play the new 40K 'clix' game when hasbro buys the rights.

The rules seriously could not be a bit worse than what we have endured for 2 decades.

Seriously though, I would welcome GW's demise in some ways. bad for game shops, but people dont just stop buying games, they move on to new ones so it would be a slump and no the demise of the LFGS.

I would rather see someone else handle the GW IP than GW.

Hasbro doesn't do Clix games, though...

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.
Play the games that make you happy.

I believe when he says "clix", he means pre-painted collectible game, which Hasbro DOES have a history of(Star Wars, DnD, etc.).

Thanks Platuan4th.

Despite Hasbro not producing clix games, some people seem to get the point...

Also, when I say "Hasbro" I mean any game company other than GW...

That's what I thought, some folks reckon prices would drop, but I think prices would rise overall - supply and demand: no more supply, still demand, highest bidder gets the product.

I can picture this, but on a bit of a limited scale. Im sure the SM would still be produced by someone. The other factions...I dont think they would all be kept going.

As far as OPs question...i dont buy a lot of GW, so it wouldnt be a huge loss. I guess Id stock up on Termies and bits so I could continue my custom termie collection. Other than that Id probably go to PP stuff, which I may do soon anyways. Ive got the itch to try and do a more futuristic version of Warmachine. Also Id get some ships to play Full Thrust with.

If they were about to "go bust" someone like Hasbro would just buy them on the cheap and work em into the MTG/DnD releases.

Heresey! It can not, and will NOT FALL!

However, if the company WERE to fall, WHICH IT WON'T BECAUSE THAT IS HERESEY, I think THQ/Relic would buy it out. Perhaps the modelling part of the company would live on, perhaps not, but the Warhammer and Warhammer 40k universes would continue to live on.

Then the game would survive in its current state until some pleb has the idea to write '6th E 40k' and then another pleb disagrees and writes his own then the community fragments and dies since we don't play by the rules.

Also hasbro would buy it and you'd buy pre-pained random boosters of marines! DAMMIT ANOTHER PEDRO KANTOR- I WANTED VULKAN!

Custom Rules and Ebay. Some other company would probaly just buy the rights to produce Warhammer fantsy and 40,000.

If that were to happen, then we would have a new edition of the rules every 3-6 months!

Bloodbowl ended up with the live rulebook which is updated here and there online. It keeps the game alive for the fans.

someone will likely pick up the miniature range and each of the game systems. As long as I have my minis I'll be fine.

Depends on the local scene. Not many other options being played in the sci-fi genre locally, but plenty of other gaming options. I would play more PP, might try and find a 40k-like rulesset that I could graft my models onto. Would prolly go out shooting a lot more.

Play another ruleset like tomorrow's war with the same minis.

Or Stargrunt II.

Or something else, like I've done before (some games rules don't actually care whose miniatures you use in the game).
