- Flight stand tops busting off inside of Destroyers/Heavy Destroyers. All but one of mine have had to have this repaired.

- Wraiths breaking from metal fatigue where they connect to the base.

- Broadsides breaking at the ankles. I've had to pin every single one. 2lbs of metal supported by 2mm of plastic never ends well.

...and +1 to the IG guardsman on one foot. We HATESSS them!!!

I shortened this librarian's staff so it would fit a little better in my normal height tray:

since then, the top absolutely will not stay on, despite a fairly long pin.

I have the same problem with the bosspole thing on the Shokk Attack Gun.

I didn't even bother gluing mine on. I could tell this would definitely happen.

And, both of these, too.

Chaos Blood Slaughterer ... pretty thin, long legs - each consisting of at least 4-6 pieces - and even if the glue holds, resin isn't the most durable material for thin and long pieces.
I'm in the progress of cutting a special foam case for it right now...

Sorry this sounds obvious but for those that are having problems after pinning: are you using large enough wire for the pins and enough glue to fill any voids? Also if you are using softer wire, score/rough it with a sharp knife before you cut it to length so that the glue has something to grip to.

@ Ouze - Have you tried using piano wire [assuming that you are using copper or brass rod]? It is allot stiffer and would resist the weight of the head more. Its a bitch to cut but really effective on models like that. [had the same problem with a sword on a 54mm marine ]

@ OP - As Chromedog I also have always pinned this set of legs. I do it slightly differently, not sure what would be quicker. Stick the legs in place, drill through the base into the foot and leg, glue rod in and bend 1/2" back and against the base and glue in place. So stong I have never had a problem.

My problem models would be the RT metal land speeder and marine dreadnoughts - so much wasted glue over the years!

There's three models from my Eldar army that always seem to break. (Granted, they've been moved quite a few times while just sitting in large boxes without any packaging material. The follies of youth )

1) The hand and spear of a Farseer. I've got 5 or 6 Farseers (from back in 3rd when you could field them all in a unit). I think I've re-glued that spear hand 30 or 40 times total.

2) Swooping Hawks wings. They certainly look cool, but they break off very easily. I've stopped re-gluing them until I finally get around to pinning them.

3) Jetbike bases. This is mostly my fault for poor transport. But, I don't have a single jetbike that is still on a base.

I do pin, with the larger models, but pinning the Nightbringer isn't easy, due to the way his arms angle.

I also have a grot that's apparently resistant to all known forms of glue (odd superpower, but there you go...)

In the middle of the battle his head just drops off, no matter what i used to put it back on. I may remodel him to be looking for it, with it giving directions from the floor..

I have a loader on my Griffon tank who does the same thing. His head usually spends the whole game poking out of the end of the mortar.

The only model that really gives me problems is the Dark Elf War Hydra, every time I use either of the two I own a head falls off and that's despite the fact that the are pinned. Oh well it's not had to glue them back on.

Pinning and weighted/balanced basing...

Other than that, 2nd Edition eldar were terrible for thin linmbs breaking due to metal fatigue and bumps.

I pinned mine back on, and it has stayed there quite happily.
Did a conversion for a mate with the same model - he wanted the staff to be the 'seer's witchblade, but a halberd, and had a spare banshee sword to use. Pinned them both together.
Just takes patience and time to learn how to do.

Ironic.

Night bringer seems to a common one, does anyone have any pictures of it's assembly so we can see why? What about the lasguns on the chimera? Once you lose one it's game over.....
